I tried Tymeka’s this past Sunday for the first time and I agree, the turkey wings were delicious 😋
The mac & cheese and cabbage were also good!
The whiting was perfectly seasoned and fried just right!!

Grabbage!!! My mom used to make that. She cooked them together. Now I make mixed greens, collards, mustard, kale and cabbage!!! It’s so good, just like you said, bitter and sweet!!! So true, we had to sit at the foot of our parents and grandparents and learn!!!
Greens and cabbage have been cooked together in the south, forever. Not just mixed after cooking…cooked together in the same pot. Love this channel!

My mom just passed 11/26/22. I remember my mom would make greens and then the next day she would add cabbage. Miss you mom so much. Thank you for all the great meals over the years. I remember when I used to live in NY I would go the the Shark Bar, the best soul food by far. It was right up there with my mom's.

Yes it's delicious mixed! Cabbage, and turnip greens are my favorite mix. Dash of vinegar, and dash of sugar! Yummy.

Soul food / anyone’s grandma food is all about love and family. Only years of practice elevates simple ingredients to a five star dining experience that everyone can enjoy. It’s a lost art that needs to come back. Bring back the big family dinner for at least one or two nights a month. Your life will change for the better.

What I love about these soul food spot, is black soul food is getting true recognition and especially seeing blacks and whites are supporting the food...on all levels.

I made mixed greens of cabbage and collard greens for Thanksgiving with fresh neckbones. The food looked delicious.
It’s hard as he_ _ to find good , perfectly cooked turkey wings from any restaurant. So this is a great find. You dropped the chicken because you forgot to put out something for your ancestors (they will take it from you ! (Lol). I love greens & cabbage on the same plate. My wife always cook her cabbage and greens separately and then mixed them in the pot together at the end.

Center City, I remember that place well when I lived in Philly. That soul food looks so good. I love turkey wings. I know that Philly is one of the best on the map for good food.

Lord have mercy where’s the cornbread with the greens and cabbage? And the turkey wings has a nice caramelization on them. They look so good!
Not to nit-pic, but we always had fresh cornbread with greens. I saw him eating a plain roll.

The food looks fresh cooked very well,when you can smell the flowers and tastes who delicious the food is,you will know the food is cooked with heart love understanding,that’s when known that you have the writ team in the kitchen,that who works as one,the turkey wings look great.

That’s my hood born and raised I never had Tameka’s tho🤦🏽♂️ I always hear how good the food is but I never tried…I will now thanks to you! I also saw your review on venango grill! I went there and got a shrimp beef and chicken kabob over fried rice🔥🔥🔥🔥 I’m a chef myself I work at a spot on South St. called South Flavors and brought we got the best egg rolls in the city!!! From cheesesteak, chicken Ch.steak, jerk chicken, crab cake, salmon, plus many more flavors of egg rolls plus burgers wings and more… You gotta stop by and do a review you won’t be disappointed🙌🏾💯💯💯💯

Do your investigative work first. Some of these places are closed and don’t be duped. Many of these guys are paid by the establishments to give good reviews. How many bad ones have you seen? Hmmmm.

One of the reáspns we don't get it right is because for a period of them me younger blacks did not want to associate themselves with soul food. So we weren't there to watch our grandma's cook. They wanted to eat food that made them feel accepted in society. Then when whites started wanting soul food it became popular and we realized we had it all along and now we are proud of it. Welcome home.

People like what they like. Good places get old fast because we over do it early and too often. Whether it’s cabbage and greens or greens and string beans you can’t go wrong. If you ask one person will say her foods great , others will direct you to somewhere they think is better. Philadelphians are foodies by nature. No one can tell us where to eat, only advise.
I'm not even from Philly but it's my home away from home and I know your statement to be facts....
Philly has some great restaurants ...soul food..seafood..diners...
