has Kevin worked with any actor that isn't a friend or family member? that's probably why he didn't get along with Bruce Willis and why his daughter doesn't get any work outside his films.
Kevin Smith has made some great stuff and some turds, and thats ok. No body is perfect. But will somebody let that guy know what a tripod is. Christ I hate shakey cam when it doesn't call for that type of cinematography
I feel like every nerd has at least one dorky pursuit that they cling to like a battered wife. For most, its Star Wars or Marvel or something similar. For me, that's Kevin Smith. He hasn't made a film I've loved in ages. In fact, Clerks 3 and Jay and Silent Bob Reboot actively sucked. Yet I keep sticking around.
Well, and maybe Pokemon. I keep giving up on that franchise, I'm definitely too old for it, yet every now and then I still find myself giving one of the newer games a shot and being not-so-surprised at what a fucking mess they are.
@haveanotherpinacolada The Matrix was near perfect, but I enjoyed the hell outta 2 and 3 and especially the Animatrix. But I get why people got turned off by the rest of the films and .. well, 4 works if you consider it being made awful on purpose by only one of the original creators as commentary on pointless sequels/reboots. But it's pretty fucking bad otherwise. I skipped Gen 3 initially, but I really like Gen 4 and I personally think Gen 5 is the best Pokemon has ever gotten. Once they moved to 3D, it just consistently went down hill. ...but I'll still play each new gen because what else am I gonna do for my member berries lol
I still show my film crew buds episodes of No Views to this day to exemplify what not to do when making short films. Believe it or not it's been a good resource of info
Kevin Smith should co-direct a film with Wes Anderson. I bet that would challenge each of them in ways that would reignite their creative juices. Or it would just suck.
have yall seen the TV series Reaper? the pilot episode was directed by Kevin Smith. it's a very fun and silly Buffy the Vampire Slayer type comedy/monster of the week series. he brings a bit of his style into it and it's pretty good. the show evolves to be a bit more wholesome and "cute" than it stars out (for the better, imo)
Do y'all have any thoughts as to how finished this movie is? The other reviews I've seen have mentioned that the audio drops out randomly and seems like it wasn't properly completed.
Kevin Smith is certainly all over the place, both in his art, and now in his life. Most people stick around and support him because he has the potential to make really great stuff. Clerks 2 is one of my favorite movies, and while Clerks 3 isn't great, I admire the balls Kevin had to make some creative choices that would divide and alienate fans. I think that's part of why I respect him. Love or hate his films, he doesn't shy away from making weird shit. Yoga Hosers might be the worst film I've ever seen in my life, but who the fuck else would have made that film? As for Killroy though, I don't know what the fuck he was thinking. I definitely pretend like that film doesn't exist, and thank god it actively tries to hide itself by design.
I remember listening to him laugh about the concept of Tusk, for two hours, on a podcast, and that was a big awakening moment, for me. I realized sometimes I just wouldn't think something is funny, even though someone cool thinks it was.
Would be cool if you guys covered Mega64. They have a similar history as Doug Walker and AVGN in which they are filmmakers that plateau and just kinda stop trying to improve as they feel comfortable with their fanbase.
Jersey Girl was the first Kevin Smith movie I saw. I liked it then, and I like it now. It'd be cool if he ever got the rights back to release that extended cut he talks about.
So, sorta related unrelated: I've heard people say stuff like Empire Records, Reality Bites, Ghost World and Clerks obviously sum up Gen X as far as movies go. ...What movies do you think would do the same for Millennials?
Reading this made me realise that I have no idea what movies people are watching. I love all of those you listed, but is there anything on the youth zeitgeist besides Marvel shit and awful Star Wars garbage? Do they even watch those, or is it all TH-cam drama channels and CGI toilets?
I'd argue he did nothing good on weed. I think Red State is good, but he wrote that before weed. I thought Tusk was interesting in parts, and I kind of enjoyed it from the "why the fuck would anyone make this?" perspective, but I've asked myself that about everything he's made since, so the novelty is gone.
My question is do we know that Kevin is also doing other work other than TV? I think TV is great for him and really, even Lynch does commercials here and there. TV is so talky, it's right up his alley.
please review the Channel Awesome movies! I unironically love Kickassia and Suburban Knights lol. If you can survive the entirety of To Boldy Flee that deserves an award.
Watching the last video: Maybe I should watch more Kevin Smith
Watching this video: I was right not to
Honestly, all you need is Clerks, Mallrats and Dogma. Maybe Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
Kevin Smith is the James Rolfe of filmmaking

She's legitmately a terrible actress...
She’s so off putting and unattractive, not just her looks either it makes you wonder how much Kevin Smith failed as a parent
Kevin Smith and Chris Jericho are a match made in heaven. They both have fallen so hard in my opinion.
Fallen for the smell of their own farts?
Kevin Smith died of a heart attack. Something else came back in his skin
Should people call the new Kevin Smith, I dunno....Kimmy?
It's a low budget tubi-quality movie. And yeah, he really goes all in on the anti-Republican shit.
A couple weeks ago I saw a 30 minute review from someone who saw it. That guy savaged the movie pretty hard.
Kino Kowboy, I’m guessing? That showed up on my recommendations, too

Yeah I love it.
Kilroy looks like the Bold and Brash painting from Spongebob
*Me:* "Yogahosers will be Smith's worst. I'm just glad Kevin can only improve from here."
*Kevin Smith:* "Hold my tasty cake!"
You would think that Kevin would want to grow as a filmmaker, work with great actors, producers etc.
He's become a complete hack. Such a shame.
Reading the title, I first thought this movie was about the album by the band Styx. Todd in the shadows did a great video about that.

Weirdest Kevin Smith project I’ve watched was his appearances on Degrassi
Where can I see it or download it? I haven't been able to find a torrent anywhere does anyone have a link?
I used to live a few blocks down from Ringling back around 2010. I remember thinking it was just an ivy league clown college.
It features Rev. Rick Derris
Kevin Smith is a one hit wonder and that one hit hasn't aged very well.

After Clerks, it was all garbage. Why do they keep letting him make movies?
It all went to garbage after Seth Rogan introduced Kevin to pot on the set of Zack & Miri Make A Porno.
