This has been a problem of mine since the start...wanting that shiny new piece of gear. I've been through an MPC 500, MPC 1000, MPC 2000, SP 303, SP505, SP 404SX, Korg ES-1 MK2, Maschine Mk1, Maschine MK2 and a whole bunch of different DAWs along the way. To be honest, none of the gear changed anything, I just made beats with them. The problem is that I've wasted time and money jumping around from sampler to sampler.

I did the same but I didn't come from musical family/friends or anything I'm the only one into music out of all. So I had to catch em all Pokemon. Honestly it taught me alot!! playing with different gear and sampler and synth fir extended time expanded my imagination and music structure so much. That said after this mix and match I can just use a laptop and make good music, without that long expensive hassle I don't think it would've been possible for me to grow this fast, I think a lot of people are missing this point. However if person can't afford it, a DAW is more than enough.

@@DonBrowsing I'm sticking with Maschine. Out of all the pieces I've worked with I've got the workflow down to a tee and I can get to work. I'm sure the MPC One and Live are also great but I've already wasted years jumping around.

I really dig the fact that you aren't out here claiming you're the best, just like almost all producers/artists nowadays. No hate on them, but it is really great to see a creative individual as part of that ecosystem with great beats and an even greater sense of humility. Your videos usually leave me feeling inspired and enlightened. Thank you for your content.

I've got a couple of machines that I use. I found that researching new gear kept me from creating music that I was scared to release. When I finally realized that I just did the Tom Morello thing and what I have is what I have and I will squeeze every last drop out of the gear I have. Now I have finally released my first EP.

Your channel is seriously the most valuable that I've found for an artist/producer. I admire your style of production so much. And yet, hearing your words in this video, hearing you describe the style of producer that sits at logic with a keyboard and builds.. That's me. I've been building in that style for a decade now, and am in a zone now where I'm building the best beats of my life, and writing the best lyrics of my life for them... So maybe I shouldn't be focused on switching my style up, learning the sample heavy style of production, getting new equipment... and just keep embracing the style i've been on.

I definitely got lucky with my MPC One when I snagged it for about $400! I started off with an MPC Touch when I found that for $150 and really enjoy just having a standalone, portable machine! I've tried my hand at the older models, but I definitely think I'm spoiled by the QOL changes the newer ones have! But I'm always a believer of its not about the tech you have but how you use it!

I just got an MPC X loaded with a 1TB drive and about every expansion pack made with many key groups of vst instruments. For a steal of a price. I know I will not use everything, but having all the options coupled with the ability to manipulate the sounds in a standalone unit if I don't feel like using my PC it is a great option. I don't expect to ever blow up. I literally just enjoy doing it and making music for the group of friends I currently hang out with and maybe some randoms on the internet who come across my pages. It is such a fun machine to mess around with. Since I have lots of experience with other varieties of synths it makes using all my hardware fun again.

Fantastic vibe in the video, overdubbing yourself doing your thing. I really enjoyed watching it.
I don't make music, but I do a lot of photography. It seems to me to be exactly the same phenomenon. I think there's a lot of fear behind it, you can always dream about the next purchase instead of taking what you have and maybe realising that you don't really have anything worth listening to in you yet.
Whereas a fully fledged artist doesn't really care what he's working with, he might take longer with one device and curse about it, another might sound a bit too artificial for him etc. but ultimately it doesn't really matter, it seems so hard to understand that when you haven't got to that level yourself.

Salute Conductor. I been beat making/music producing/engineering/ for three decades. I remember in 1996, a good friend of mine was telling me stop getting gased up off of these sound modules. He was using the Proteus 1 and I had the proteus 2000. He said strip away the reverb off those pianos. Sure enough the piano on the proteus 2000 was the exact same piano on the proteus 1. Over time I do admit, G.A.S was kicking my a$$. I have had placements been on the same albums with some legendary producers. It wasn’t until recently. G.A.S has finally….Well 80% has left my system. On the software side, there are things that I wish I had in 2001. As far as Groove boxes. MPC X and Live II are my final sampler boxes. As a older man, I feel like my friend in 1996. 😂 Anyway, you are one of many music production specialist, I can relate to. Keep up the good work champ. ✌🏾

However, the MPC One/X/Live nailed it in terms of giving you easy access to make beats like a 2000,3000 etc. But with the bells n whistles built around it without it being in the way. Buy what will keep you interested. Some people need new stuff to feel motivated. I like learning the stuff I have better. I started on MPC, now rep Maschine and all the native instruments geat and software. Pick one setup and F'in go. If I had to teach a kid now how to make beats, I'd say get Ableton at whatever price level you can afford, buy the Akai MPD pads you like and a 37 key midi conroller. If you need more than that give me the reason your stuck.
I have a bunch of hardware scattered around my house, but that's a motivation thing, keeps me sitting down and getting better, I can do everything I want with a laptop and a interface that lets me do loop back and has good drivers. Spending money is for bills and recreation with friends, not many have great stories to tell about when they went on vacation with their MPC.

I'm still rocking the Maschine Studio with the 2.3 software from like 2013 lol. There were times i wanted to get the newest shinning thing but i know machine inside out and very well that im able to manipulate it to my taste. Why would i want to interupt my workflow when i have it dialed down. I have been thinking of something i can take on the road thats portable and doesnt need a computer as a brain tho still doing my research on that. Its not the gear it's the ear baby🔥

Peace Conductor!....i NEED videos etc like this...Im 47 and have loved the culture for sooo long that back when covid first and we were locked down..with those stimulus checks I bought a desktop and a few things to TRY and make beats etc...that was 2020 and a few different gear later..had this sold this,,bought this..sold that etc and so on...Ive never sold a beat..had a beat placement etc..just do it for the love..the hobbie..culture etc..and that may change but I currently own an akai mpk mini 3..volca sample 2..volca drum...Akai renessaince mpc studio black..po-33 and a PSR-262 Yamaha...and for some reason feel like I need something new..because I want a standalone to where I don't have to open my computer up to make music etc etc etc...just really wrestling with this because my wife and I are being tight right now..money is low and I think of it every day..sorry for the long message but just vibin and relating...thanks for your time and keep it going!...

Thanks for praying for us. I plan on getting a MODX6, but I keep debating. I may get a few roland SPs or guitar pedals instead cause I love various textures. 😊

γειά σου conductor, could you do a video about getting placements? I’m sure lots of young producers could find this helpful, loving the videos, keep it up ❤
