Your timing is impeccable chief. Listening to this while watering my garden w my daughter overthinking about the fact i havent made a beat in 2 days. Youre right, its so easy to fall into the "i dont gots". Crazy thing is, i liked the beats i created last session. But i began to hyperfocus on other things that at the end of the day hindered my positive thinking. I came out to smoke and water the garden, saw your video and stopped when you mentioned learning how to create from a painter. My journey in making art started when i first saw the works of Da Vinci and Dali. Always invent and never create for anyone else but yourself is what they taught me, and when you repeated it, it hit like a ton of bricks. Im going to go cut some more samples when i go inside. Real talk, i appreciate you doing these videos. Your vulnerability inspires, peace
Not a beatmaker, but as a rapper the "quantity to get better" and "once the skillset is there the focus is now quality" mindset is exactly what I'm feeling right now, knowing that you've been in that position solidifies my confidence now, thanks Conductor.
I've been seeing this Andre 3000 video circulating about him saying why he stopped making music and he kept bringing up the word "age" . I'm 35 years old and I've been making music since I was 16 and I was sitting back thinking yesterday about how I haven't really made anything happen with my sounds . I love to rap and produce beats but I get what Andre is saying. I'm in the process of basically reinventing myself to fit the maturity I have reached because truth be told I can never see myself not making music anymore.
fully agree! & like madlib once said "i do it for me & my health first, if one other person likes it thats just a bonus" Its been cool watching your journey man keep doing you! thanks for being real to yourself Bless up!
This is a great reminder to not focus on the I aint gots....sometimes it gets hard after 25 years of doing this beat thing. I still press on because ultimately, I love it. Whether I do something big or not, the beats still gonna get made, I'll still put them out there and keep this thing moving. Thanks for the reminder. Salute from Chi City....
Straight up.. I appreciate you for making this video and saying the things you said.. Kind of like confessionary kind of stuff. But I say that to say this... I feel like we're kind of like the same person. We're probably the same in age. . I've always been a part of music all my life But not surely understanding where my place was.. And then I got into making beats. Starting with the worst equipment you could ever have, just being creative and moving up to better equipment little by little... Eventually getting my first MPC in 1997.. Which was the 2000. Even after learning that machine and understanding How to use that.. my creativity to the fullest potential With the right people around me then I realized I really had something. Basically gave me the motivation to keep learning. To understanding my craft. I salute you For your run down on how you got where you got today.
No shame in blind messaging people. We as producers are salesmen and we gotta be our biggest advocates. Turning within also changed how the world perceived me as well though it's crazy. The second I said fuck everything else fuck everyone: I started getting dms about placements n shit. This literally happened like this week or last. So we'll see how that goes but I noticed a change in my world. Also wanna say conductor thank you for your music, your vibe, your content. I cannot express how much inspiration from you but your vibe in these vlogs is so chill and relaxed it really helps me calm down myself. I appreciate u man
I cant tell you how much i appreciate you sharing your experience and your thoughts. Its been so valuable not only from a producers perspective but more importantly as a human being. Youre making a difference in a lot of peoples lives...a true blessing! Salute🙏
I grew up without a father figure, and now that I'm so into beatmaking and music in general, your advice fills a part I didn't know I needed. The Conductor, an inspiration.
@ConductorWilliams is my fuckin hero! I too have been making beats for soooo long, and just getting some placements couple years ago in my late 30's. Thing is, I'm havin so much more fun now than I ever have. THANK you for these videos, it's inspiring brotha!
At the stage I am with life, getting ready to graduate high school, and thinking about my next steps with my craft such as videography, media, and my essential branding this is what I need to hear. Keep doing you Conductor, you truly are an inspiration and legend. Thank you for impacting the culture and youth🫶🏼🚂
I saw this video the other day as I was falling asleep. Today I was eating and randomly thought, “How am I gonna get this million.” You’re making an impact and inspiring so many bro, keep going.
The good thing about making music unlike alot of other things people put alot of lonely time in is that in music if you stay working you actually do get better with time.Just keep working smart and hard and know who your audience or artist are that fits your production. Wise man once told me that,”only want who wants you”.
Thank you bro, your videos are much more than beat instructions. You have valuable insight on being a creative no matter what you do. I am a musician and director and what you speak about applies to all mediums, salute!
Your journey and mines share similarities… I haven’t reached success yet but I’ve reframed my mindset and have been making small steps towards my goals. I will get there! Thank you so much for these talks Conductor
Man I feel all of this in my soul. I've been afraid for so long to just love what I've created and to have faith in my ability to create in general for me I second guess a lot of the work I put into my beats because I often don't think its good enough for the world you single handedly just inspired me to not give up making beats, to love what I've done and to love myself. thank you Conductor.
I learned to sit with beats and work when I'm in that creative space and I do things to get into that space. I try to start with something liek your video, a snack, then ill listen to music and smoke and chew gum and if I feel inspired I don't think I just execute.
Peace to you Conductor. Only recently came across your videos here, it's a refreshing take in contrast a lot of the non-stop hustle and grinders... Quality and balance, these vids are very inspiring 🙏
I watch your videos for inspiration but more importantly the relaxing effect it give me.. thanks for adding the cigars breaks.. reminds me of my routine.. trying to put a rap together before I have to pick my daughter up, kicking it with her then back to work.. knowing one day everything will make sense
Gems that always arrive at the right time is what you offer bruh. Thank you. I got some vids to catch up on of yours but they always drop a jewel that you can take with you. Much love 🙏🏽
I ❤ everything about this video. THIS must be where I'm at presently. I couldn't put my finger on it. Outside of the EP that I forced myself to get creative on, I've only made a handful of of beats, but I feel them all. Something in me has changed, because my "volume" of tracks is WAY down, as I figure out where I wanna go and take people musically.
This was really good. I found myself overwhelmed with the fear of missing out or underperforming. I had to run it back just to fully meditate on what you produced. This is art. Thank you.
These videos are awesome fam! I always come to your channel to gain new perspectives on the creative process and gather some new inspiration. Always been a fan of your music/production but hearing your thoughts over your beats hits the spot everytime. Much love!
Inspirational as always! 🙏 I came up with the idea of a “million dollar day” about 10 yrs ago when I’d go skate & have the most amazing experience by just living it, $5 in my pocket. From the looks of it, I’d say you’re already living it too ✨
I love and value these videos so much man, thank you for makin them. Watching someone of your caliber level with the people is great. I started posting my stuff on insta/other places in part because of these. I can smell that first placement. ✌️
Taking your advice into consideration, I made something that I really enjoyed this morning. Revisted my old mpc and made something that feels GOOD. Didn't save any settings or overthink it, just let the flow state dictate. Thank you.
Watching these videos and seeing your dedication and love for creating is just pure inspiration. I’m curious as to what things you had started to do differently when rebranding your image/sound?
I’m getting the same exact camera in a couple weeks! I’ve been researching it for a while!❤ it’s a dope cam for streaming and content creation. I love your channel
Searching for my 'Martin': Inspired (again) by a bit of your workflow, I brought a tv into the studio, last week, to play 'Aeon Flux' on loop. As stupid as it seems, my production (quantity) immediately increased. (I think it quells some ADD tendencies in me...?) Aeon Flux is cool, but it's not my "martin". After that I'm gonna try some of my fave music documentaries (Dig!) on loop. Maybe something that reminds me of when I was 12yo...? Either way, THANK YOU for the many ideas/sparks and Peace to the Union.
