Been building the Hue light groups for a few years now. Just like you say..they may be a bit more but they work well. Latest addition is the square outdoor deck light and additional light strips in the kitchen above and under cabinets. Google assistant controls them when not using the magnetic hue switches.
I go with the Smart Life app, the lights are 50% cheaper than Hue...But I've stuck with the app and products, all in all, if your getting control of all of your lighting with one app at whatever cost, it's just awesome.
Great video! Had a question on the LED light strips. Did you need two separate power plugs for the strip behind your desk and then for the one behind your monitor? Just wondering how that works because they are two separate light strips?
Really great video, I've got some philips hue bulbs but didnt know I could do all that!! Totally agree that they are the most reliable rgb product out there.....you do get what you pay for!!
I love this setup, I want to do similar, have a strip for my desk and another for my monitor, I have a question though, do I have to buy two sets of light strips to be able to set different lights to the desk and monitor? I was confused at the beginning of the video because I saw only one box of light strip and the extension, I'd appreciate if you can answer
white 3d wall covers is better than diffrent colors like cream color fot these lights ? better with white ? are they still works ? sticky parts still sticks on surface ? thanks
Fun tip if u have a single monitor and want brighter rgb lights just get the single Philips hue bar for only 60$!! That or the govee light strips they are good but not the brightest
Great video thanks and what did u use foe the monitor? I seen u used a strip and extension for the desk. I dont want to get the wrong thing ;) thanks in advance
I won over $2500 worth of philips hue strips, bulbs and bars. I just got a $55 govee RGBIC Dreamcolor and man it’s so nice. I liked it better than any of my philips hue lights :(

Great demo. Like your set up. If you don’t mind can you tell me how many inches off the wall is your desk? Mine is about 2 inches. Wondering if that willl be to close....
Sorry, never explained this well. I bought 2 full sized (80") lightstrips and 1 40" extension. I used 1 full + 1 extension behind my desk and 1 full behind my monitor.
Do you have a high pitch noise with your Philips Hue? I got this annoying noise when I have a high pitch buzz noise issue once adjusting the brightness above 20%.
The Hue doesnt have addressable LED's so it can't do a rainbow in one lightstrip. It can do a color loop changing the whole lightstrip to different colors but not individual leds on the lightstrip
+PC Battlestations how do you connect those lightstrips to app? Did you bought philips bridge? I just want to buy 2 separate led lightstrips (one for desk, and one for TV) and connect them together.
Does the hub that you hook up to the modem have to be in the same room with the lights? Or can I have the lights throughout my house but have the one Phillip hub at the modem?
Thank brother, for the video. I have a quick question. I put my lights to my tv and the three bulbs on also. The hub found just the three light bulbs. It does not want to find my light strip. Does the light strip need to have a separate hub??. Thanks man. Please help if you can.
Hello, I really need your help, I have a Philips TV 49PUS6412/12 android UHD 4K. One day I have turned off the Ambilight, after that it’s not turning on. I have tried all the possibilities to reset that, even I reset my TV completely but still it’s not working. Any suggestions would be relay helpful. Thank you so much.
No. The lights talk through the bridge that is connected to your wireless router and uses the Zigbee wireless network or the ZLL protocol. Some bulbs now can even use Bluetooth. If you want to control your lights remotely, you can set up Apple HomeKit or enable controlling them through their cloud: www.gearbrain.com/philips-hue-enable-remote-control-2644961622.html
what strip light did you put on the monitor screen? is it the extension? cuz I thought you connected the extension one to the 80" you have. im confused
Installed the light strip on my desk in the same place you did...I love it. The only complaint I might have with the entire setup is the fact they use small pieces of cover for the 3M strip making it really annoying to peel and stick. I think using a single cover for the tape would be much easier.
Trust me, you don't want that. I had a cheap eBay light strip that was like that, it had one while peelable piece and it was a mess because it would all peel off as I was trying to lay the strip gently. It ended up falling on the floor, on the sticky part and bam, stickiness was gone for good pretty much lol.
Looks beautiful, I actually found your set up some weeks ago and it inspired the current set up I am currently... Well... Setting up. I already got the TITAN CHAIR last week, so glad to see you have it. I'm sure that's a good sign lol. Did anyone see him test the "Video" effects out? I only saw him cover the Music and Game effect on the app. I wanted to know if the video mode works, that's the one where the colors are supposed to match what's going on on-screen making whatever you're looking at much more immersive. I originally thought that effect was only achievable if you had the Philips PLAY product bar thing but I heard it's do-able with just the light strips. :L
4 Months later, hey! I'm pretty much fully set up as of well, maybe a week after the OP! Lol! I have my speakers mounted on my wall, right beside my Ultrawide (same monitor as this dude) but read of many many issues with many of these LG monitors so may play it safe, and sell it, then get an Alienware AW20 or whatever, the white one, basically, even though it has a lower refresh rate. (120, vs LG's 144) but I think anyway it has the cooler aesthetics to make up for it and higher nit count for I think, more true color or something like that. I forgot the tech jargon I read about it.
Also, the video mode effects for the Phillips hue stuff is fucking kickass!! I went with a third party app called HUESTACEAN to get the most accurate colors in the areas I wanted and it's soooooooooooo good for movies and games!
Hey man, can you give more info on what products are you using? Iam planning to upgrade the lighting system of my office, and i have not decided yet which system i should use.
