Excellent interview. I love how Laurent is always so modest with his productions and how they all come together with little effort when in reality he has more of the Midas Touch and he always creates the combination of magic and wonder which sounds fresh even decades later just like When Things Go Wrong. No wonder it was difficult to choose a personal favourite when there are sooo many masterpieces under your belt.
This track has a sad and melancholic feel, it made you think about moments when you feel frustrated, heartbroken or disappointed..i agree with Laurent: there's no better way to cheer up with music. The title "When things go wrong", but you can't go wrong playing in a crowd :) Nice interview Twan!

Wow, suddenly stumbled into this from recommended videos. This brings back memories. Such a sad track, yet somehow cheerful and with a glimpse of hope. So different from other trance, reminds me a bit of Faithless - Take a long way home. Thanks for the interview!
Such a humble guy!!! Had the absolute pleasure of remixing him and receive a remix from him but most important: Met him at Lumi and had a talk with him! Again can't stress it enough. What an absolute legend and kind soul Laurent is! Truly!
Having him bring in audio loops while discussing the production really adds to the "story behind" format. And the fact that its based off a negative experience, adds a bit to its bitter-sweet, melancholic sound.
Forbidden fruit had such a good beginning. I used to listen to that song all the time like I do this one now. Weird to learn that one inspired the other lol
I always preferred the (Remix) of this track. Feels like the melody is more suited to the darker atmosphere of that version. I forget where I first heard it, possibly at Global Gathering 2003, then later that year I found it on a bootleg mix CD called "Pure Trance Session One - Mixed Live by Optimise".

Proud to be a Belgian again. The more we got to know Laurent the more i like the guy. Such a humble and down to earth person he is. Absolutely fantastic! Also one of the most underrated producers in his home country. I always loved his airwave work and as i said in the previous intervieuw with Laurent, innerspace is for me personally his biggest track with his remix of andain summer calling on a second place. Yes i love when things go wrong also very very much, but the party vibe in innerspace just rings my bell. Anyhow thank you very much Twan for this wonderful interview with Laurent again! Great track, but not really on my wish list for an interview to be honest. I always focus on the bigger classics / more well known tracks. I have some other tracks he did on my wish list already for next time 😉 Hopefully next year or so! 🤞🏻
Great track for sure, but I'm not really looking for suggestions or doing requests at the moment, sorry! He lives far and my time and travel budget are 0 at the moment, so it is not possible for me to do any new interviews abroad for a while. (Muzikxpress is not a cheap hobby hehe)

Laurent is a legend. He definitely sits up there with other (not only) trance royalty, such as Oliver Lieb and BT.
