Docking at Sarah Island, an old Penal Station from the 1800s. It's Australia's version of Alcatraz.

  • This is the fifth video in a 5 part series of my River Cruise on the Spirit of the Wild Catamaran.
Here we approach Sarah Island's Jetty and watch one of the crew members tie up the Catamaran so that it docks safely.
Sarah Island is a small eight-hectare (twenty-acre) island in Macquarie Harbour, Tasmania.
Between 1922 and 1933, it was used as a Penal Station for the most hardened criminals such as those who had reoffended and those who had escaped from other settlements.
After Docking, all the passengers disembarked from the Catamaran to have a 1 hour tour of the island to learn of its history. I did not record any of this except a brief 10 second footage of the Penitentiary remains.
