Why no real details on Goodwins? When did it happen? Was anyone injured? Did they move any food anywhere to be sold? C'mon...

I lived in Crestline in 2018 and I’m pretty sure the roof for Goodwins has collapsed once before a while back. I remember someone telling me that story. Too bad because that’s an excellent local grocery store.

more bad weather in Northern California esp the Sierras, this weekend. Iam not sure about SoCal. I hope people don't think this is all over and they can get back to the regular routine. And the forecast for the rest of the March is serious wet weather which menas lots and lots of snow in the Mountains.

California should learn from the Japanese in roof construction. They build houses and buildings in a way that the roofs DON'T COLLAPSE. Now structures back away from the cities may have roofs collapse. However in cities where newer construction takes place this roof collapse doesn't happen. I seen a guy clearing snow off a building's roof that was 9 FEET DEEP on TH-cam.
What anywhere in the world would do with what happened on Lebanon's Mountains off of Eastern Mediterranean Sea in February, 2012???? THEY REALLY, REALLY DUMPED!!!! DUMPED in they got FORTY FEET OF SNOW IN JUST FIVE DAYS!!!!! This was just example of Atmospheric Rivers traveling easterly towards Lebanon that year. Google has pictures and the story.

Just a guess but I live in Oregon where it snows often and it’s sometimes a good idea to leave it in there to add weight to your vehicle to get better traction on the snow and ice. Some even use sand bags.

This is such a joke it's the local government working with the state that's causing all the problems for the people up there ether to get gas or food. Each agency working with with the governor's office is it difficult to leave or visit the location as many reports of people saying they see things are open only be told they cannot go up because they're not residents when they have property. They're doing it at all mountain locations making it very difficult to be up there during this time and not because of safety kits to make them think twice living there! Can you say it Agenda 2030!

your in a climate zone that is historically speaking, been only sunshine and rain.. snow belongs somewhere else. The architecture reflects that, so the buildings can stand earthquakes, but definitely not the reality of snow because accumulated snow is HEAVY asf. Flat roofs and cobble roofs aren't designed to allow it to slide off, making sure that the weight of the snow will definitely collapse your entire roof, sometimes the walls. Whose got insurance for snowfall?

Crestline averages 31 inches of snow per year so they are used to a lot of snow. They apparently just did not have a plan for snow removal when they get too much snow.

The access problem in places that snow could be solved fairly easily__don't wait till the accumulation is so bad it can't be moved.
All roads should be plowed consistently once there's a certain amount of accumulation, not waiting until people are snowbound.
This happens because the local governments (cities/counties) don't want to allocate money for it. 😒
For people who's homes are in more remote areas: if the main roads were consistently being cleared people/groups/organizations would have an easier time reaching out to help those remote areas from getting snowed in. 😺
