Thank you for your thorough review. I have never run into a Gibsons puzzle myself. If I should run across one while thrift store or flea market shopping, now I will know that they are worthwhile. I appreciate that. It's often difficult to decide if an unknown brand is going to be a good purchase. I love that you talk us through sorting. I have learned a lot by paying attention to how you group things. I used to find sorting very frustrating because I thought you were supposed to just sort by color. It has helped me a lot to learn that there are other ways to sort, such as making a group of house parts, no matter what color,or all parts of a person. Now I don't find sorting quite so dreadful! Thank you again and have a great week, and of course, see you in the next one.
You are so very welcome! I love knowing that others are finding my sorting talks useful! I know sorting is not for everyone, so I love to share my ideas on how you can go about the process as simply as you can, no matter the image. I feel it really does help in the long run. See you in the next one 🤗
I’ve done a lot of Gibson’s. I like their quality and their images. They feature a lot of English nostalgia images. Their puzzle sets where you get four puzzles that tell a story are fun. I had one set about a mother and her kids on a shopping trip to different types of shops. One puzzle showed them getting off a double decker bus, next puzzle they were in a toy store, next mom was trying on a dress, etc. You’re making me want to go on Amazon to nay another Gibson’s,
Oh that box set sounds amazing 🤩 I wish I found those during my trip. But now that I think about it, maybe it's better I didn't because I would've had to really shove them hard in my luggage 😅
Being from the UK I have a lot of Gibsons puzzles and love them - great quality and some fantastic images. In regards to the different box style I’ve done a few different ones and the quality just appears to be the same - I think it’s more the style of box relating to a certain series or artist. On a separate note I don’t like how the puzzles are no longer covered in cellophane. Don’t get me wrong I get the environmental reasons but I’ve been put off buying a few recently as the boxes were so grubby. Anyway glad you liked the Gibsons and they were a couple of great images you had there. 👍
Thank you for sharing! I do wish I was able to pick up one of those fancier looking ones, but I can leave that for the next trip 😁But I'm happy to hear that they seem to be the same. As for the cellophane, I agree. It does help the environment, but then the box can end up a bit dirty.
Gibsons is the top brand in the UK and I have done a lot of their puzzles over the years. Their pieces are thicker than they were 30 years or so ago and the hold is much tighter. As far as I am aware they are the only company who do a 636 count. I appreciate what you mean about the slightly waxy feel to the pieces, as I have noticed that with their current range of puzzles. Look forward to your next video.
I'm so happy that I was able to shop for them in England. It just completes the whole experience for me. I'd be curious what causes that waxy feel to most puzzles. Now I need to investigate 🤔
Hi Mandy! Thank you for your review. Both puzzles are beautiful and I especially liked the Bee Hall. I have done one Gibsons and really enjoyed it and thought the piece quality was very good! Thanks once again for sharing your thoughts, always appreciated 🙂
Both beautiful puzzles. Loved your My House narrative which always makes me laugh. Good brand I will try. Started a 2000 pc Aimee Stewart Great Fiction Library. So busy I sorted by peice shape lol......pulling out what stands out and pricing together....resort later if needed. Quite the challeng though...... Cannot wait for your next review as you definitely have become my #1 you tuber. Your personality is infectious (in a good way). Keep up the puzzling lady. Work starts for me 9/3 as I am a bus driver for school kids😢
Woah that puzzle of yours looks super challenging, but it's going to look so amazing when it's done. That's going to be a huge accomplishment! Good luck! And thank you so much, that really means a lot to me🤗🤗🤗 Hope you enjoy the last week before work starts again!
Glad you enjoyed them, I'll not a big fan of Gibsons as I find the pieces get jammed together in the bag etc and it's really hard to separate without damage. I also find they have false fits and the pieces also have a tendancy to peel as if the layers of card& paper part.
😂funny you mention that. After I counted up my time, I said the same thing to myself. Maybe I am starting to pick up my speed 🤔 perhaps a speed puzzle challenge for myself is on the way!
I am so happy that I picked these images. But there were sooo many others during that shopping trip that I wish I was able to snag as well. Maybe next trip 😜
I’ve done one Gibson but I have several others in the “I Love” series by Mike Jupp. The one I did was “I Love Gardening”. My experience echoes yours. I found it to be a superior quality with fairly good fit and perfect pieces. I had no false fits luckily because it was a very busy puzzle. I must also add that I LOVE the videos you work up a puzzle. Your commentary is unique and often very humorous! Yay for Gibson puzzles!!
Thank you so much! That really means a lot to me🤗🤗🤗 I'm going to have to look into that "I Love" series. That sounds like an amazing collection! I wish the store that I found these puzzles at wasn't a plane journey away. But then again, it's probably a good thing because I'd be in there all the time 😂
Hi! I worked a lot of Gibsons for the past 3 years. They are thick pieces (which I love) but the finish sometime is waxy matte, sometimes is smooth semi-glossy. I also encounter inconsistent quality in terms of "peely back" (which is easy to glue but annoying) and noodle arms (thin narrow distance between knobs). I still get Gibsons now and then but only when the image is really good.
Thank you for sharing your experiences. I find it so interesting when I hear about how some find inconsistencies. Have you experienced these issues with the newer productions or from some of the older puzzles?
Dominic Davison does have so many beautiful images, and a lot of brands feature him. So fantastic. I haven't heard of the other artist, so I'll definitely look into their work.
I usually remember to mention the puzzle dust if it really catches my attention, but from what I remember, the amount was minor. But you're right, I must remember to make mention even if it's not that much. I know that could be a deal breaker for some puzzlers.
Mandy-certified hold?!😂 I have one Gibsons, lucky me, as I am in the US. I have to rebuild it one day to remember the experience, but it is good; otherwise, it wouldn't be in my collection!
And she's finally reached house #501.....yyyyaaaayyyyyyyy Dont worry re the lights being left on....solar panels so a freebie for you from mother nature :-) On a serious note, that house jigsaw (your first jigsaw) is really pretty. You needed to have been here 2 nights ago....oh my God, the moon was a darkish orange, huge like an Aussie 20c coin.....and just off being a full moon...... don't worry, I didn't turn into a werewolf.....that happens next month lol What I'm getting at....if you can find a jigsaw of a stunning moon would be great to see. I am actually getting the earth from the moon jigsaw for $20. I'm half asleep as been up all night and on holiday for 2 weeks and have heaps to do, and wanted to ask you...have you seen those Murder Most Puzzling jigsaws? I have a couple. Basically, it is a murder mystery (duh!), and you read a sheet or two of notes yet to solve it, you need to put the jigsaw together that holds the solution....watched a couple on TH-cam and they look like real fun so it is a combo rather than simply just doing a jigsaw. Might interest you, and for your audience. 🙂 Oh PS. To really tease your viewers, cashews would do the trick compared to peanuts......my Mrs adores honey-roasted cashews.
I really need to figure out how I'm going to keep up with all the maintenance in these houses. I'm going to have to start cutting back on the house sales because I still have not reached super TH-cam megastar level yet. We shall see! Make sure no ones around when you during the next full moon! Can't have any issues leading up to your big move. I have seen a number of murder mystery puzzles, but not of that particular brand/collection. I really do need to check some out though, they do sound very interesting. OOoooo I absolutely love cashews. They can be quite expensive here so I only have them every once and awhile. getting back to puzzling as fall starts so had to start with your videos. So enjoy your personality and enthusiasm.

I enjoyed the video! Thanks for reviewing both the 500 and 1000 pieces in one video.

They are beautiful images for sure😊
Yes and they were so wonderful to piece together.
UK here. Our experience has all Gibson's puzzles the same in quality. Excellent stuff. 😊
Good to know😊Now I don't feel as bad about not picking up one of the fancier looking boxes.
This brand is on my list to try. Great video as always!
