Looks like you are prepared and aware of most common pitfalls. What I will say, having camping experience, is that until the body and mind adapt to sleeping on the ground/thin madrasses, it will be way less sleep. My body typically uses about 5 days to adapt. After that its all good. Same when sleeping on the floor in South Korea. The body will adapt eventually. When it comes to water storage, go for a low one that will not fall when driving. The taller once fall easily and make everything in the car wet. Especially if it has a tap/kran on it. I made 2 madrasses dripping wet in my car and it two weeks to dry properly... Fairylights/ljusslinga seems to be a hit with kids. Also a campfire if its allowed. Might enhance the kids memory of this trip for the future. Please be kind to each other during this trip!!! ❤️

It is inspiring and makes me want to get out of my little apartment and experience life more. I did not grow up in the USA, but my kid did, and we used to go on road trips too. Thank you! Yes, Sansan speaks fluently in both Mandarin and Swedish, and also the local dialect. Lian speaks a little bit of each, and mixes a lot. He doesn’t not translate between languages yet, so he know some words in Chinese and some in Swedish. But it comes with time!
Camping IS just one of those things that can go totally wrong, but I think as parents you already know how to expect the unexpected and deal with it. As long as you know something will go wrong (especially as long as you're planning to adventure it's bound to!) you'll be fine. Can't wait to see your experience. As an American, I can safely say that 6 months of camping throughout China will never be something I will get to do but I look forward to seeing it through your eyes.

I am using two Sonys, both are great for video but not for the wallet 😅 an A7C for photo and vlogs and an A7siii for video. Luckily I could get the A7siii second hand, and Sony had a 200 usd cashback on the 7C. Still the most expensive things I have ever purchased, apart from our new car 🚗
We were there for midsummer too, it was lovely! I decided to just enjoy my time there and didn’t film much at all. I had a lot of administrative work to do, but I didn’t film, so it was a half work half vacation time for me, to just enjoy my family’s and friends’ company 🥰
Well, my husband has spent 32 years here and I have spent quite a few years here myself! But 6 months is the biggest commitment we are willing to make to a road trip, since we’ve not been on the road for such a long period of time. But who know! If it goes well we might continue through the rest of the country!
Four tests, yes. Not that difficult. But you need to go practice at their school, and they have the most stupid system ever. Everyone in the group come at the same time, and you practice one person at a time, one round each. Then you wait. Yonghong can be gone for like four or five hours and in total he spent like 20 minutes in the car actually practicing 🤯
I'm sorry my key pad makes many glitches. I It goes autonomously and inserts stupid errors into my life perfect text... all e. g. 1, words, like person, bad grammar and French je suis etc. And Editing's not allowed.

You need a small camper, not a sedan. A family of 4 packs lots of camping stuff. Plus, sleeping inside a camper keeps most insects out.
