I bought a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera LP 570-4. Why? And initial impressions

  • In this video, I cover my initial impressions of the Lamborghini Superleggera LP 570-4. In short, I bought it because the price was attractive, and I preferred the Superleggera to the McLaren 650s or the Ferrari California T. The car is in great condition, is Australian delivered, and has a full Lamborghini service history, so I expect relatively few problems and an inexpensive ownership experience. It was also more attractive than other LP Gallardos (i.e., LP 560-4 and LP 550-2). My initial impressions are very positive.

    If it wasn’t the same price, would you have still chosen this over a Lp550-2? Nice video btw

    Hey man, how much better is this over your preLP? I had a 2006 Gallardo e-gear that I sold because the transmission was absolutely awful.

    Great review. Really enjoyed watching it. How tall are you? You seem to fit perfectly in the seats.

      Thanks! I'm not exactly tall. I'm about 172cm ( think). Ed Bolian (from VinWiki) seems to have no trouble fitting and he's super tall though

    Good video and I agree with your thoughts. Would you have gone for a Balboni had one been available, and as there are only 250 I am guessing you think that would be a better long term investment?

    • @motoringmark
      @motoringmark  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup, Balboni would have been better ,..., If you could get one when they came out. I have never seen one listed for sale in Australia though. So I don't really know the pricing. I suspect they would be very expensive. The MK2 SL isn't limited edition per se. But, I imagine there aren't any more of them than there are MK1 SLs. I can't find good numbers though.
      I don't think a plain 550-2 is much / any more collectible than a plain 560-4. But the Balboni is amazing.

      @@motoringmark I am toying with going for a Balboni or if that proves tough one of the other Gallardo LTD`s that Lamborghini made...Perhaps even a performante if I get bored of waiting.
      There is a Balboni for sale on pistonheads.com now if you want to take a look..Also on E bay uk

    Interesting video. I'm considering a LP-570 or Huracan I live in Australia too. This is the lp-570 that was in VIC for $250K? (I recognise the blue callipers) What was the final price you ended up paying after negotiating?

      I saw the victorian one as well. But, it disappeared quickly. So, I don't know what happened. It came online almost immediately after mine started leaving Perth, and then went offline not long after. Mine was from Perth. I paid 230k. It struck me as an OK price. It had around 40k km on it. So not low mileage. But, not insanely high. It was in good condition, Australian delivered, and with full service records. It needs the brakes done and the clutch has wear, but these are honestly not big issues (it's just wear and tear)
      There's one listed for sale at around 290k. It is in Perth. But, tbh, I'd buy a Huracan at around that price. I don't think a 570-4 will ever get more money than a Huracan. But, I'll stand corrected.
      I never drove a Huracan. It was out of my price range at the time. So, I couldn't really consider it. And wasn't interested in the ersatz Huracan (i.e., the R8)

      @@motoringmark cheers for the insights mate. Yeah I was thinking around the area of $230K. I saw your WA one listed for $244K in memory.
      Yep, damn coronvirus prices people listing cars for way over market price. I'm gonna wait a while for things to come back down no way I would pay $290K for that grey one. Would just get a huracan at that price. Huracans seem to be bullet proof with reliability from what I've gathered.

    • @motoringmark
      @motoringmark  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely agreed. A number of the prices are just silly. The cars at good prices have sold. And, now, many on the market are unrealistic. The Huracan prices seem less insane because there are more of them.
      I hear good things about Huracan reliability. I'll likely shift into one in a few years. But, because I put mine under a chattel mortgage, it doesn't make sense to sell it too soon. I woudln't get a Huracan Performate though. They seem worse than the Evo (or at least, no better), but people still want high prices for the Performante. And, while there might be fewer Performantes, there are so many "special editions", color combinations, etc etc, that everyone tries to claim they have a one of one.

      @@motoringmark I like the huracan performante, but at those prices I would much rather pay that little extra for the Aventador.

    At a similar price what would you pick between an AMG GTR, 991.1 gts, V10 plus or 2007 Superleggera? Cheers and good vid!

    Did you drive a Huracan and compare the experience with the Superlegg?

    • @motoringmark
      @motoringmark  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alas not, it was a bit more than I wanted to spend (as I need the cash for building and investments). So, I didn't want to waste any sellers' time.
      I've heard it is better at low speeds and the transmission is smoother. The former would be nice, but LP Gallardos are perfectly ok.
      I'm not a massive fan of the Huracan's styling as well. But I might be one in that view.

    why not the mk1 superleggera? sound better ... a few pieces ...

    • @motoringmark
      @motoringmark  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They definitely sound better... But I had a standard mk1, and I wanted something a bit newer. Also, the financing terms are much better for anything 2010 or later (where I am anyway).
      I'm not sure which one is rarer. Apparently there are 618 mk1 SLs. But, I'm not sure how many mk2 SLs exist. I haven't been able to find much solid information

      yes it would be interesting to know how many mk2 superleggera were built. but think more. the mk1 was only built 1 year. 2007-2008.

    • @motoringmark
      @motoringmark  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can understand your comment. There was actually a reason for not mentioning it: It would be too old to finance very well in Australia (or would require bad financing rates). But, I can see it would look like an omission.
      THe F430 is an amazing car. I wish I bought it instead of my older pre-LP Gallardo.
