I haven’t cut my hair other than trimming the ends in almost 10 years. I’ve realized I’ve pulled my hair way too tight and then I band it all the way to the end as I build furniture and am constantly working with saws, planers, jointers, sanders, and a number of other tools that I really don’t want to catch my hair. I’ve started developing these painful headaches at the back of my skull. I’ve got to figure out a better way to keep my hair back, because I’m damn sure not going to cut it. Your long hair is actually serving as a sensor to your surroundings, which is why the story of Samson and Delilah has weight. Doing it too tight will damage your scalp dude. It can cause baldness over the years.
You should still go to the hairdresser every now and then to cut the tip. Some hair split up at the end and the split can end up going all the way up. Not only that but getting a cup keeps them from getting damaged too much.
I used to tie my hair back like this (fold over) but then I started to realize how much of a bend this puts in my hair after taking it out and its just completely unmanageable to wear it long after without washing it to reset it.

i've had a problem where it feels as if the hair on the top side of the tail is getting pulled pretty hard, i usually solve it by moving the band lover down the hair so it's relaxed, but this is the reason i never have a man tail, am i doing something wrong?
Sometimes I do the first technique but I feel it pulling too tight so I'm doing something wrong I guess lol

I had a problem with tying my hair. My hair gets snapped in half, and now I got long hair and a lot (a lot) of shorter hair. When my hair is dry these shorter hairs stick outward. (I dont mean a few strings of hair. I mean a thicket of hair. Its very ugly and embarrassing).

It goes about 4 inches past my shoulder, haven’t had a haircut since December 2019 lol I did get a small trim last month though. It takes so long to dry lol

I only wash about twice a week, and it’s nice cos once you get past that year long awkward phase, you can just wake up, and tie it up and not have to worry about washing and drying it. Ultimately saving water and products. And time! Bazinga! My hair is shoulder length.

Im currently 15 and my hairs about the length of the dudes in the vid. Many people pick on me and many say I look like a girl. Many girls are also jealous of how good my hair flows. My hair is so annoying but cant seem to part with it. As much as I get these urges to cut it I never have the balls to get it cut. Point is screw them haters, im too chicken to cut it off no matter what they say. Also I haven't tried tying it back cause it is so different from usual but gonna need to eventually if I want to go into the work line of carpentry to keep it out of my face.

How did you go through life with long hair without a ponytail?
I first started to wear my hair long back around 1983 - when I was 14 yrs old. I started out with hair barely past my ears, but within a couple years was getting perms, and another year, or so later - teasing my hair as BIG as guys could back in the BIG hair 80's. Some people would laugh at me, and stare, while others would think I was cool. (yes - I was in a band) By the beginning of the 90's I was tired of wearing it down, and teasing it, and let it go 'hippie' style, and in a ponytail that went half way down my back. Once again, some people would laugh at me, and stare, while others would think I was cool. Since then over the years, I've grown it long - very long - then cut it all off, and then grown it all back again! Many times I've repeated this, as I keep thinking that I'm getting too old for the hassle of it all, but then I miss it! I'll never change...I'll always do my own thing, and to hell with what people think. Life is short, do whatever the hell you want to do, as long as you're not hurting anyone. LONG HAIR ROCKS. ; )

Thanks man, I've been in 20 months of riding my hair out. I was getting exhausted working with my hair in my face and shoulders, sometimes strands in my mouth. I work in manufacturing so that doesn't help either. Because of your video I have been rocking the high fold that you showed at the end if this segment. All I can say work has been a lot better, getting a lot of complements especially from the ladies. Hair is out of my face, could work a lot more comfortable. Now I lay it out on the weekends or when I go to a rock show (Death Metal). I have curly wavy hair, so what helped me was from another one of your videos using a bit of product with tying up the hair. Thanks a bunch btw is it possible to get one of those LH shirts?

I'm at the point where I can tie my hair back, but I have to do it really tightly to fit it all into the ponytail. Waiting for the time when I can tie it more loosely, so it doesn't look so plastered to my head.

Yeah I've noticed that men's long hair is better than women's and especially when guys use elastic hair bands/head bands. I've heard some gals complaining that most men look better than they do and even some brave guys paint their toenails for summer to complete their look and they look cool when they're with their gfs or wives.

But a Bun typically looks like a Bun, like those things Princess Leia has, only smaller (and one instead of two).
For me though, I've always called it a Halved ponytail, as only half of the hair has been pulled through, the term Manbun to me is so annoying, because putting the word Man in front of something doesn't make in any less Feminine.
But whatever it's called, let's call it a Manbun, no Man in history has ever pulled off a Manbun and looked good, it should not be worn has a hairstyle, but as a way to keep your hair of of the way while performing certain activities.
Examples when it's necessary:
1. Swimming,a regular ponytail just sticks to your back, on when you turn your head your hair gets pulled, or worse you can't turn your head.
2. Running, depending on the length of your hair, a ponytail can swing all over the place, an most of the time your pulling it out of your mouth.
3. Showering, similar to swimming, but of course let it down to wash it (I recommend washing your hair last).
4. Any physical activity really, but I think I've covered this with Running and Swimming.
But one thing I hate seeing, is a guy in a suit with a Manbun, it's not a good look (an I've never met a Women who's said that it's good).
