This figure is a huge improvement, and have to be seen in real life to appreciate. The paint app is a LOT cleaner. The chest piece is well sculpted on the side below the armpit. The legs are solid unlike the past ones which has one leg crooked, and hence it stands really well.
Definitely the best version so far. Articulation is much improved and I was never a huge fan of double jointed knees on armored figures...kneeling positions looked unnatural at the knees. The helmet is easily the more accurate and overall aesthetics makes this the better pick. He can probably sit on the Dewback much better too, just put the sand trooper kit on him...except he’s not dirty.
I’d certainly be down for a new Sandtrooper! Just make one Sandtrooper with the new mold/helmet and include all the different pauldrons. Thanks for watching! -Justin
Excellent review. The new version is far superior to the older one, especially the helmet which is far more accurate! The older helmet sculpt is truly awful!
The helmet is definitely small for a stormtrooper. In Episode IV, the actors all said the helmets were huge on them. This helmet, although more functional, isn't completely accurate as you have to remember that the original Stormtroopers had a lot of equipment and technology in their helmets, making it oversized. The First Order corrected this by using modern advances in technology and reducing the amount of equipment to produce a lighter helmet.
@@alexissandoval1284 Yes, this is a bit smaller, but I think I know why; when Out Of The Basement was posing him, I noticed the butterfly joints made his triceps look scrawny from a certain angle. I was overall very pleased with the last three stormtrooper variants that came out, but you’re absolutely right in that when you really put the old sculpt under the microscope, it looks as though the trooper under that armor is very scrawny, especially in the arms and chest...not what you’d expect from what’s supposed to be an elite fighting force.
The old one had a better and more symmetrical head sculpt imo and the new one had a better articulated body, so kitbashed the old head onto the new body, pretty happy with the result 🔥
I don't know about you but I wish he had a holster for his blaster, and when I get mine I've been toying with the idea of removing the head from inside the helmet and painting it or replacing it. As for which one I think looks better the new one hands down.

Hey Out of the Basement crew, I just had a thought come into my mind. Because even the exclusive figures are numbered and share the side box art (minus the old box exclusives like the Target figures and the Gaming Greats figures), do you think that the exclusives that come in the new boxes like the Walmart Clone Wars wave are just going to be timed exclusives? As in Walmart or whoever will just get the figures earlier than everyone else, and then the figures will hit mass retail a few waves later (which for the Walmart figures has been rumored I believe). I doubt Hasbro doesn't think that non-United States collectors will want to skip out on four figures that complete the box art for the Clone Wars Figures. I personally really hope this is the case, because it would make exclusives so much less frustrating to collect. There'd still be the "true" exclusives, but there'd also be the timed exclusives for the early birds and those who hunt them down. I think it'd also really help with reducing scalping and keeping aftermarket prices reasonable. Great review, too!

But sadly I'm gonna pay scalper prices for the new clone trooper from walmart that sold out in seconds and also ashoka. I like the new mando figures but not enough to pay scalper prices
This is definitely much better than the old version. The helmet being slightly on the smaller side isn't even a major issue when you've got a much more accurate helmet design to the OG 77 and modern stormtroopers and articulation that completely blows the old figure out of the water. What would you rather have: a much more accurate and better looking stormtrooper with 10x better articulation for proper posing or a helmet that is a tiny bit bigger? I don't think people remember just how bad the black series used to be especially for articulation and accuracy. We now have the most accurate trooper figures in the 6 inch scale, the best alien figures, great articulation without sacrificing the aesthetics of a figure and human faces that can rival or even in some cases (like mace windu and dooku) beat the more expensive foreign brands. Not to mention a more in-depth cast of figures and all much cheaper than the competition. Quality has dramatically increased while prices for the most part have stayed the same. Hasbro are not perfect by any means and not every figure is amazing but this is genuinely an awesome figure. Almost every figure released in 2019 and 2020 has been somewhere between pretty good to phenomenal. Take the last few waves for example. Not one bad figure. That was unheard of back in 2016 and i don't think people give hasbro enough credit for the huge increase of quality these past couple years.
You are absolutely right! We are in the golden age of the Black Series. People have been taking that for granted indeed. Thanks for watching. 👍🏻 -Justin
Definitely agree! This whole wave seems to be banger after banger. The three I found are great, the re-pack of Luke is a fantastic figure, Mando is gonna be dope, etc. Can’t wait to get my hands on more! Thanks for watching. -Justin
Considering the inability of Stormtroopers not being able to hit what they're shooting at. That figure should at least be one that can kick itself in the ass.
@@alexissandoval1284 the Clone Troopers were far more lethal. Stormtroopers were a drop in efficiency because the empire focused on a look more than anything. With the 1st Order Troopers, the quality got back up to Clone Troopers level.
@@Da219StarWarsGuy If you knew the truth, Stormtroopers are not nearly as bad as people are fooled into believing. Plus, clone troopers were bred specifically for war. Stormtroopers were not and were recruited from civilian populations. They had better equipment, even if their armor was slightly worse. The tv shows and movies purposefully make Stormtroopers appear weak to make the Rebels look like heroes of the people, which is not true in most cases. History is written by the victors to make them seem as simple as good vs evil, which may or may not really be the case.
Out of the Basement Quick update. Found a case at my local Target today. Bought Stormtrooper, Vader & Ackbar. This is indeed the best Stormtrooper the Black Series has ever produced! Bonus for everyone out there, they are 2 per case!
I think your'e being a little unfair to the old mold. Yes the new one can actually raise its arms and sit down, but the old one can definitely get past 90 degree elbow bends and aim down sights. The helmet on the new one is 100% an improvement. And don't get me wrong I am very excited for this figure, but its not enough to just throw away the old ones as some commenters have said.
The old mold is a great Stormtrooper mold. However, I would argue that you could not really get it to naturally aim down the sights as a human being actually would in terms of using a gun. The new mold has significantly better and more natural looking articulation. As far as the overall look, it's for sure up to the person. Thanks for watching! -Justin
No the new Stormtroopers definitely an upgrade,I know you put a lot of time and effort getting the old ones they still are really nice but they do not compete with the new, just be true to yourself, I love the old ones, but we must make way for the new, the old ones you can't even pose themin any spectacular way that you can these new ones,
You're so right on the single jointed knees being better! These guys aren't Spiderman, I don't get why people want so much articulation. Not a single character in the Star Wars universe is flexible lmaoooo

👍🏻 -Justin
i think the black series recently are doing a great job of giving figures a premium feel
Definitely agree! This whole wave seems to be banger after banger. The three I found are great, the re-pack of Luke is a fantastic figure, Mando is gonna be dope, etc. Can’t wait to get my hands on more! Thanks for watching. -Justin
The older one reminds me of Star Wars Rebels
I can see that, thanks for watching! -Justin
Great video comparison
Thanks for watching!
I want the new stormtrooper also darth vader since last year I want to find them the best price for me
The new Stormtrooper and the ESB Darth Vader are grade-A! Some of the best in the line. Thanks for checking out the review, Iron Boy Wonder! -Justin
Not sure if I like down the sights. After all they are known to ALWAYS miss lol
Except for in A New Hope when they destroy the sandcrawler! Thanks for watching! -Nate
I want one now.
Get one! -Justin
Nice review but white trooper on a white background makes it hard to see.
Did you watch the whole video? I put a piece of poster paper in the background. -Justin
Now I need 10 of them.... it’s amazing! Fantastic update by Hasbro... they can actually aim badly! Lol
It truly is a fantastic update! Thanks for watching, Alex! -Justin
The trooper aiming down the sights is shooting birds.
Not the birds! -Justin
new helmet looks 100 times better!
Totally agreed! Much more accurate proportions. -Justin
Considering the inability of Stormtroopers not being able to hit what they're shooting at. That figure should at least be one that can kick itself in the ass.
Hey they destroy that sand crawler! And the rebels at the beginning of the first movie! -Justin
@@OutOfTheBasement well, can't say they couldn't hit the broad side of a barn on tracks I guess?
@@Da219StarWarsGuy That's just plot armor. In reality, Stormtroopers are some of the most well-trained and deadly soldiers on the battlefield.
Blaster is different version rather than better. Shame about the silver.
Hopefully they can put that silver back in with future figures! -Justin
this new one look more humanoid and is much better, the old one looked like a robot with the skinny joints
Definitely agree! Thanks for checking out the review. 👍🏻 -Justin
If someone says they prefer the older one design wise they should stop buying Black Series and rethink their life
Hahaha, hey you like what you like. I have no hate for anyone but yes the new stormtrooper body is significantly better! -Justin
👍👍
James 😁
James? -Justin
@@OutOfTheBasement , That's my name. Old habit of singing my texts.
Oh what’s up James! -Justin
Congrats great score
Thanks for watching! -Justin
Marvel Legends, Black Series, Hasbro is improving their creations even more!
Very true! Thanks for watching. -Justin
Not a fan of the warped helmet look on these new stormtroopers. Bandai model kit is still the best in my opinion
i got a grievous for £28
Nice pickup! -Justin
Looks good.
Thanks for checking out our review! -Justin
Nice review. Target DCPI for checking this case assortment is 087-16-8467. Happy hunting everyone, Stay safe!
Thanks for watching! 👍🏻 -Justin
Out of the Basement Quick update. Found a case at my local Target today. Bought Stormtrooper, Vader & Ackbar. This is indeed the best Stormtrooper the Black Series has ever produced! Bonus for everyone out there, they are 2 per case!
Dope Justin! Cant wait to get him! 🔥🔥
You’re gonna love him fig! -Justin
The new Blaster looks like a Nerf clip stuck on the side.
True but I recently watched A New Hope and that clip seems to be large like this new figure. Thanks for checking out our review! -Nate
Looks like a regular magazine to me
Dope an akbar too
Review coming tomorrow! Stay tuned!
I was just at my walmart and it had 2 stormtroopers I bought them they are awesome look great behind my vader
They’re so dope! Great finds! Thanks for checking out my review. -Justin
Stormtrooper review on a white background.. hmm 🤔
Did you watch the whole video? -Justin
Out of the Basement Nope, I’m one of them guys that comments halfway through a video 😱
-Justin
No the new Stormtroopers definitely an upgrade,I know you put a lot of time and effort getting the old ones they still are really nice but they do not compete with the new, just be true to yourself, I love the old ones, but we must make way for the new, the old ones you can't even pose themin any spectacular way that you can these new ones,
@@casterortiz8922 Never said they weren't. And they are just toys, calm down.
You're so right on the single jointed knees being better! These guys aren't Spiderman, I don't get why people want so much articulation. Not a single character in the Star Wars universe is flexible lmaoooo
Yep, it's unnecessary and it looks better! -Justin
Lol every release is just accurate...next storm trooper release...most accurate...5 months later..another trooper release..most accurate lol
Actually no, that’s not happened. This is the first time getting a new classic stormtrooper mold. -Justin
@@OutOfTheBasement tlkn bout multiple lines bro
He can aim but will still miss
Tell that to the gunned down rebels at the beginning of the first film! -Justin
Yeah throw the old one away. I pre-ordered this trooper from GAMESTOP and they told me he will be in next month. Which is September.
I wouldn’t go that far...old stormtrooper is still a great figure! -Justin
This vids 10 mins. too long
Then don’t watch bud. -Justin
