I used Spotify for only 3 reasons: the app is very smooth with no lag, their song suggestions are so damn good, and the most unique feature is that Spotify connects easily with other apps like Discord, Facebook, etc.

11:25 Correction: I am an Independent Artist and my tracks are available on every streaming platform, Artists can distribute their songs through a music distributor service. For that distribution service, artist need to pay yearly subscription fees and the distributor will collect all the royalties behalf of an Artist and Artist receives 100% of the royalties. But yes, Spotify does pay less.
But it has more listeners. With more listeners that are using android and not iphones. It is certain that the listeners are not finantially stable. So i don't think less pay is that much of a major issue.

Because it is an dream for every indipendent artist to be a full time artist but since streaming platforms pay less, it becomes extremely hard to become full time artist because at initial stage, it is hard to get brand deals also it is hard to arrange live shows or concerts.
Then the only way to get funds for music is just from those streaming platforms.

I am an artist too and I use routenote for my music distribution. The major streaming platform that pays me is TH-cam Red. Spotify covers only 4% of my total income even tho my songs gets thousands of plays every month. And ya spotify really don't support me as an artist as my songs will never be recommended or anything.
