My 12 volt tools are Milwaukee and my 18 volt, “20 volt,” tools have been dewalt. Lots of my Dewalt tools have failed and recently had quite a few tools stolen. Needed a grinder recently to get a multi groove sheave off a motor shaft and grabbed the flex due to cost. The thing really is a beast. Was gonna replace all the Dewalt to Milwaukee but gonna go flex now.
Wow !!! Technology has really come a long way. I have Milwaukee corded Super Sawzalls and there ruff to hold on to after a while for this old dog. Flex is changing the market. Thanks Vince for the video !!!!
I am a trailer mechanic, I have the flex grinder, 1/2 impact, drill, and impact drill. They are tough as nails, hold up to the abuse rather well, and saved me a lot VS Dewalt or Milwaukee. Seem to make solid tools 🛠️
Interesting results. I thought of one possible thing to try as well. Project farm did a test with a Dewalt recip saw and found the better batteries were actually giving him cutting problems due to the blade actually moving too quickly to be efficient. See if possibly different results arise using the 12.0 on the Fuel? Or maybe the 5.0 on the Super Sawzall? Would be interesting extra data. Great video though as usual!
Nobody likes to see their team lose. (Myself included.) Everyone relax. It’ll all be OK. With that said, I think it’s time to acknowledge that the new kid on the block is doing some things right. At the very minimum, they get credit in my book for studying the competition, identifying their weaknesses or at least where they had room for improvement, and incorporating innovations that address those areas. Fuel Sawzall is powerful, but has a lot of vibration? Ours will reduce vibration AND include orbital action as a standard feature. Like your Packout, but wish you didn’t have to hunt down someone in the 3rd party aftermarket Mod community? We’ll offer those options in-house, and include cross compatibility with our bit and blade boxes, so that we can keep you in the entire ecosystem. I’m mostly mad that they’re doing so well at showing team red how to do it just a little bit better. (Not for everything, clearly….but, I don’t know….gas struts in the lids and bit box holders built right in?!?) Kind of beating Milwaukee at their own game, in some respects. It’s OK, though. We can still all agree that their name and marketing promos sounds a little like a bad reboot of American Gladiator and that their rolling Flex Snack Pack sounds more like a lunch pudding than an awesome storage solution. Relax. We all win.
Why does everyone call flex the new kid? YES there 24v cordless line is new but FLEX has been around for over 100 years. They invented the grinder in 1922 and they have had an 18v cordless line in the UK for years.
I find it hard to relax with the number of milwaukee battery failures I've had recently. Im extraordinary pi$$ed about it! 3 out of 4 expensive 12.0ah battery failures. I'm seeing red and not in a fanboy sense either. We have 4 of those big dewalt flexvolt batteries at work for the dewalt recip saw. 2 years of heavy use and abuse and not one of them has failed!!! Milwaukee dropped the freaking ball and I'M TICKED!!!😡😡😡😡😡
If I were starting to build up my tools. I would definitely go flex same power or more for less cash. Since all my cordless tools are Milwaukee I will stick with them
Flex’s biggest problem is their limited selection of tools without timelines for future products. The longer they wait to offer arguable essentials (for wood working at least) like a sander, router, miter saw, etc the more people who want to stick with one ecosystem are going to look elsewhere.
Im in team yellow now but ill probably go team grey in a few years just waiting for the arsenal to get bigger with flex. they proven that they can make a high quality tool and in most cases out powering its competition's tools! Bravo Flex keep going up i want more tools!
Im thinking about switching some of my tool line to team yellow. I plan on being partially flex and partially dewalt. That is battery tools. The miter saw and table saws will both be corded. When was the last time a cord had a cell go bad? NEVER!!!!! Screw you, milwaukee!😡😡😡😡😡😡
It’s night and day difference my co worker is team red and has been for years every time he needs to use a circular saw or recip saw he comes and grabs mine. I asked him why and he said when I use this one my hands don’t go numb from vibrations and for the circular saw he just likes how smooth it glides through wood. Have to use hardly any forward pressure.
Excellent Job as always VCG👍👍👍 Just goes to show everyone that many quality tool brands can make great tools that can get work done, and no one brand is the best at everything even if they are one of the top dog tool brands. And more importantly that VCG is always on the Up and Up when it comes to rating and reviewing tools! The best of the best when it comes to all quality tools is the best in the function, reliability, and price value equation imo. But all quality tools must meet a minimum standard in that equation or imo they aren't worth using, at least proffessionally. Luckily the big dog tool brands usually always manufacture a quality tool even if they don't offer the best tool in every category.
I agree. That’s the one thing I miss about the corded tool era. I could pick n choose the best drills, saws … from each company. I.E. I liked , Dewalt drills, but my SDS had to be the Bosch Bulldog. I preferred Milwaukee saws …. and so on. Now it’s not only a hassle but not cost effective to own the best drill, the best , saw …. We’re stuck buying into a platform if we want the convenience of batteries. But, at the end, they’re all good tool companies.
People here still keep trying to complain about flex. But yet time and again it keeps outperforming the competition. People keep thinking about flawed tests. Yet it was Milwaukee that used flawed tests with the screwdrivers. This right here is proof of the naysayers that want to be right. But guess what... you're WRONG!
EXACTLY! I just started using Flex myself I honestly ive been pleasantly surprised by how they preform and the quality of these tools! I think its time for people to be more open minded about new brands that come out cause Flex is representing themselves real well by what they have been putting out
@4run011 exactly. Lot of haters out there. Instead of people hating on tool brands, they should just be happy and positive about their brand like everyone should be happy with their other brands. If it works for someone regardless of brand then there should be no hate. I'm invested in lots of brands and love them all.
FLEX power tools don’t put much of the vibrations into the user of the tool. Much of that has been engineered out and translated out into better material in the tool. Was explained to me by a FLEX associate, some of it makes sense. The tools are not light but they are all very powerful tight tolerance tools that are not light but they are heavy duty. Go check out the video where guy dunks his FLEX recip saw under water. Time and time again it kept working even after it sat under water for an hour.
@VCG Construction. Thanks Vince for making this video and helping to keep us informed about tool claims. The Flex recip saw is good for those who use a recip saw alot. I'm already in Makita, Dewalt, Milwaukee, and Ridgid battery platforms. I don't see adding Flex in my tool crib at this time. Keeping you and your family in my daily prayers. Merry Christmas. P.S. I'll have to remember I can use my recip saw to mix my next powdered drink 🙂
I knew it wasn't BS I have the flex recip saw and you can barely feel a difference when it's running and when it's off. The vibration control is crazy.
Mira el Supersawsall Milwaukee es muy bueno en poder d devastación en la madera , en hierro el Flex , Pero si yo saco una comparación personal para mí. El Flex es más chico más bonito y más portable.Yo m quedo con el Flex.
Having both the Flex and Milwaukee, the Flex is better in literally every way. And the vibration is a night/day difference. Not hard to see what Flex’s gameplay is here folks….Make tools that are better than everyone else’s, period.
I’m already sold on flex. Been using two power tools over the weekend and ordered a 3rd. Now I’d rather stick to the same battery system. So Flex it is.
I wonder if how the blade release could cause the transference of vibrations to the body. Milwaukee uses a blade release on the body, and Flex uses a release on the blade head.
The engineer that designed the original Sawzall was named Jerry Schnettler. He worked his way up the ladder at Milwaukee, and at one time was the president of Milwaukee Electric Tool Company. He was also part of many other projects of Milwaukee’s.
Sorry but I don't need my saw to be as smooth as butter. Flex had a smooth tool congratulations, never thought about my Milwaukee smoothness while I'm on the job cutting. It cut, and quick. That's what I needed it to do🤷🏾♂️
Milwaukee is no doubt the most powerful tool so far in my opinion. Yet the milwaukee tool vibration is kind of a headache especially on m12 impacts. I have had zip tie on my m12 stubby to hold the battery for more than a year. the battery wont fall out completely but it would drop to the point where it causes intermittent stops
thats fine but how often do you use the tool hanging from a string. need to figure out a way to test under load that could make a big difference. tool weight would factor in
I am curious how the Metabo HPT 36V recip stacks up. Been looking to buy a recip as my Hitachi 18V brushed is a vibrator and my brushed M18 Hackzall gets more abuse than it should. Hikoki touts the UVP anti-vibration tech it has in the 36V so I need to know if it is worth the money.
If Milwaukee is concerned enough that’s good because they will then improve their tool to compete with the lower vibration from flex. What if you used a smaller container? One that would sit perfectly flat on the flatest parts of the tools without sitting on any ridges/bumps? Once something starts bouncing that can be amplified through a simple test like this but not actually be felt as much in use.
How does it cut though? When I'm using the sawzall it's usually for less than 20 minutes at a time I'm not worried about vibrations but is it going to cut through a 4×4 with a bunch of nails in it and how often will I need to charge it and how many charges I get from the battery. Would like to see more tests on how many charges a battery takes before it stops being a good battery.
Right after I bough my flex stuff we had a job setting 6x6 in concrete to hang pasture gates on We had to cut them to height my buddy has a corded super sawz-all and the flex out preformed it in every way. Cut 10 6x6 with a 5AH battery and still had 2 bars left. I feel like it cuts better without the orbital action on.
i wouldn’t say it necessarily is the better performing too rather the tool that vibrates least. that would be a whole other video. performance against lumber, metal, fasteners, etc. . still appreciate all the work you guys put in to show us these test 🤙🏼
I wish you would've done a "project farm" style comparison to test them actually cutting. I own the flex and it's great. The vibration in the flex is much minimized for the hands, but it is SOOOO aggressive for almost anything other than pure demo work that I'm thinking of trying their 1-handed version... which I would love to see Ina head to head 😉
I hope Milwaukee comes up with a gen 2 duel super sawzall. Though flex is the better tool, I’ll go with Milwaukee since they are known very reliable tool and I already invested into the Milwaukee eco system. Flex could be just as reliable as Milwaukee and dewalt but, the reliability is not yet known.
Love Milwaukee tools. As long as they continue to innovate I will continue to buy. Being from southeastern Wisconsin they come out to job sites and give guys tools to use and ask for input. They really listen and make changes based off given input. My foreman actually has a wire cart they prototyped like 20 years ago that never made it to production. I like it a lot, definitely had some useless features but a few tweaks and I think it would be a big seller.
Nice. Wold be interesting to see how the battles shake when you cut real wood. Another test could be to tape the bottles to your arms as you are cutting 2x4. Just my two cents
Kids these days.. We used to buy our tools for how well they worked and how long they lasted. I'm glad this metric is being added but the questions remain: How does it work? How d is it last? Very few treatment are going to have one of these in their hands all day where vibration free might actually make a difference over time. But maybe vibration free makes for a better cutting tool. That I would like to know.
Flex has a lifetime warranty, and less vibration gets you less fatigue. I'm an HVAC tech and used to cut many holes for ducts in new construction. The vibration will wear on on you
I own a supersawsall mainly because i own alot of m12 batteries. I'm not doubting the flex but we have a dewalt flexvolt recip saw at work and its really enjoyable to use. Tons of power and alot less vibration than the milwaukee.
@@LARULES100 Dude....dude....we have a Dewalt 60v flexvolt DCS389 at work. The thing is a BEAST of a saw. Its the best I've ever operated. Runs circles around my m18 milwook super sawsall.
@@unclefester4626 Dude dewalt has to much vibration and there's plenty of test that disprove that the dewalt is better.I tried both and milwaukee is the better saw of the 2.
@@LARULES100 ok...I'm lookin at my milwaukee. Its a m18 super sawsall 2722-20. So it is a milwaukee....and no sir it is not better than the dewalt at work. It is smaller, lighter, and extremely violent to operate which makes cutting stuff more difficult and causes more fatigue. The orbital is off the blade is a new diablo and the speed control by the trigger is turned down. I cut mainly wood with this saw...stuff that is getting demoloished. The Dewalt at work cuts fuel tank truck hose, frak hose, and parker 797tc 1" high pressure hydraulic hose....basicly bendable pipe. On those items the Dewalt uses new Diablo metal blade and one of 2 9ah 60v batteries. It is a beast cutting those items. Also...i like the way the dewalt recip saw feels better. In the fab shop 99% of the hydraulic techs, assemblers all liked the feel of thr dewalt saws and large grinders much better than the Milwaukee backups. So i dont mean to be mean but I'm saying no....i disagree with you. Sorry.
One platform i have consider dive into is xgt but they missing tool like fraiming nailer Table saw and so on i work a lot with m12 and m18 milwaukee have everything i need and beyond.
I always used Milwaukee for their sawzals and ryobi for there drills and hammer drills and inpact drivers and impacts and makita for circular saws and i also like ryobi and Bosch and makita for sanders
Awesome test VCG. People are mean to me because I rock Flex on the jobsite. I’m quite the lone wolf on my own in the wild out here in Ky because I use Flex🤣🤣. I think they are just jealous because their brand doesn’t have blacked out tools. 😎. That their brand doesn’t have stacked lithium ( real stacked lithium batteries 🤣 ). That their brand doesn’t have those sexy blacked out modular rolling boxes. The list goes on and on. I love Milwaukee but I prefer Flex. Merry Christmas to everyone and the VCG CREW
I’m glad you did this brother. People are simply butt hurt when the get fisted by the higher priced tool and can’t except the facts that the lower cost under dog performs better. Must be a bunch of CNN watchers!!!! I am a gun collector and this goes on all the time, some of the pistols that are economically priced under $300 will shoot just about any ammo and you got some $900 pistols that are picky.. love your channel man.
Have to admit the flex was impressive but still doesn’t make me want to buy it, I’m curious about the weight of each one cause that would also play into fatigue, just looked it up and flex is about 2lbs heavier
Great test it just matters of time for Milwaukee to solve the issue ..... i personal stick to red team not switching a whole battery platform over one tool that i rarely use
Nice but will be better if you can make a test with a smaller bottle as the milwaukee have a 3 point touch and the flex only 2 I'm not an expert but little that i know it makes a big difference.
I’m guessing people haven’t watched your videos for long or forgot about your video where you tested the flex and the supersawzall through the big I beam and you commented how the flex was less harsh and it was almost as fast of cut and way less money
OK, I’m a little late to the party but here’s my theory what’s going on here the Milwaukee has a much more heavy duty internals, so all that extra weight when the hits the end of the stroke is making a lot more vibration I don’t have any experience with flex reciprocating saws, but I’ve use that model Milwaukee quite a bit and I’ve used Dewalt quite a bit and the Milwaukee is considerably heavier then DeWalt or really almost any other one that I’ve used and I would assume that it’s the same deal with this a lot heavier tool with a lot more internal mass hitting the end of the stroke
I’m thinking 🤔 to which to flex :) Milwaukee got too big and they got too greedy or cocky on quality :( Used to be Dewalt 2007 - 2012 😮😢😢 Now, is Milwaukee like that? 😢😢😢😢

I'm glad this metric is being added but the questions remain:
How does it work? How d is it last? Very few treatment are going to have one of these in their hands all day where vibration free might actually make a difference over time.
But maybe vibration free makes for a better cutting tool. That I would like to know.
Flex has a lifetime warranty, and less vibration gets you less fatigue. I'm an HVAC tech and used to cut many holes for ducts in new construction. The vibration will wear on on you
I would love to see this test done with flex and metabo. I want to see flex give metabo a run for its money.
Does anyone know if Flex will expand its range of tools?
Yes.This channel is unveiling all the upcoming tools the last few weeks and they said there's more coming.
Thanks for keeping it real Vince!
I own a supersawsall mainly because i own alot of m12 batteries. I'm not doubting the flex but we have a dewalt flexvolt recip saw at work and its really enjoyable to use. Tons of power and alot less vibration than the milwaukee.
Flex recip blows dewalts out of the water.
Sorry.
Ive never tried the flex. It looks so tiny at lowes....
Unless they've done "something" internally??
One platform i have consider dive into is xgt but they missing tool like fraiming nailer Table saw and so on i work a lot with m12 and m18 milwaukee have everything i need and beyond.
Hiz hat says very cool gang with the Milwaukee lighting ⚡ bolt so your in a gang now 😂😵💫
The question is how does it feel in the handle not on top of tool
I always used Milwaukee for their sawzals and ryobi for there drills and hammer drills and inpact drivers and impacts and makita for circular saws and i also like ryobi and Bosch and makita for sanders
Flex puttin out some great stuff, wish they sold their tools near me lol.
Merry Christmas INT!
Flex is not bad but I can't justified changing platforms when all my tools still function perfect.
Well now I know which one makes better milkshake. LoL. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😇🥰
I bought all the flex tools just to try ‘em out, the sawzaw the only thing I keep on the truck from em, also got a decent hepa vac
What about the fan?Is it any good
I want to see if the tool still works in 5 years.
“If it can’t shoot steal it don’t deserve the brass”.
@@Hardworkpays209 damn right brother.
One thing is for sure, I live milwaukee but the Flex rear handle and inline circ saws are best in any class.
Not that I think you're lying but you still had a video cut at 4:13🤷
I would love to see how the dewalt compares
Flex is where it's at Man.
I’ll be that guy here, I’m sticking with Makita and 40/80v for the bigger stuff that needs more power
Have to admit the flex was impressive but still doesn’t make me want to buy it, I’m curious about the weight of each one cause that would also play into fatigue, just looked it up and flex is about 2lbs heavier
The Makita 2nd gen XGT recip saw took the throne of best recip saw on the market rn.
I have flex grinder and it uses up batteries to fast.
Vince here kicking ass and taking names… that’s 1 for flex and 0 for Milwaukee
Great test it just matters of time for Milwaukee to solve the issue ..... i personal stick to red team not switching a whole battery platform over one tool that i rarely use
Hey Vince my question is does it last like a Milwaukee product?? On that note I will say that that’s some incredible innovation on flex part!!
for the people that got it in the last 2 years will yes it will last especially with the lifetime founders warranty to back it up
damn that wouldn't be to hard to beat that. nowadays the way they are made.
I like your video a lot I like to see more of them
Nice but will be better if you can make a test with a smaller bottle as the milwaukee have a 3 point touch and the flex only 2 I'm not an expert but little that i know it makes a big difference.
do this with all the brands please :)
Did no one suggest maybe the Milwaukee has less vibration while actually cutting? They're not meant to be ran in air. They're for cutting materials.
You could literally see how much more the Milwaukee vibrated in one of the last shots by watching the tool itself.
Yo Vince! How ya durn? 🙂👍
Im still buying Milwaukee though 😅
I think if fi had to change platforms I'd go with flex!! But my go to is dewalt hands down!!!
Vince, we know you opened up that Milwaukee and ground a spot on the motor to throw it off balance.
🤣
Singing the "Milkshake" song while watching the Milwaukee imitating a Vitamix.
Ryobi owns Milwaukee.
[sits back with popcorn]
Well done
I’m guessing people haven’t watched your videos for long or forgot about your video where you tested the flex and the supersawzall through the big I beam and you commented how the flex was less harsh and it was almost as fast of cut and way less money
Steak is a better place for all that salt from the Milwaukee fanbois
Amazing!! 👏👏👏
The student became the master
software engineering organizations do tool tests all the time. industry standard practice 👍
I’m not so patiently waiting on a orbital sander from flex and I’m going to flex
I’m thinking 🤔 to which to flex :)
Milwaukee got too big and they got too greedy or cocky on quality :(
Used to be Dewalt 2007 - 2012 😮😢😢
Now, is Milwaukee like that? 😢😢😢😢
