  • Carrying on from episode 68, I add the scenics to the other side of the platform at Castle Halt and explain future work. Throughout I test the tracks against the scenic work and present a running session to prove it all works. Please like and comment on the video and if not already done so, subscribe. I would be really keen to read any comments form you and any advice or tips you think I need to know.

    Hi. Your layout has come on tremendously from when you rebuilt everything. I always love watching the different processes of the build. Great

    You have made a lot of progress just in the last month. Great layout! As a former modeller of HO, I can tell you that a model railway is never completed. Bill from California

    Hi Steve, really enjoying how it’s all coming together. It’s a lovey scene looking up towards the castle. I loved watching the trains run round there to, excellent work and as usual looking forward to your next video, cheers Steve, John

      Thanks John - it has actually turned out better than I though tbh, but the hard part comes next to complete it, but I am in no rush so am taking my time and doing that favourite pastime - Pondering!

    Greetings Steve 🐲🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 The canal scene is coming on swimmingly ✌️ won't be long before the rusty bikes will be added 😳 So impressed by the performance of your steamers 😇 it must be a joy to be working on a scene with those to accompany you 🤩 Very best wishes from the Emerald Isle ☘️

      Thanks you Paul - rusty bikes, shopping trolleys a few fishermen and perhaps develop the myth of the escaped crocodile? I am planning to have a raft race for the good people of Aberlyng to take part in. Perhaps the Lord of the Castle would donate a prize? It will be interesting to see how it progresses, as right now I can't see a clear picture in my head but will bumble on and see what happens.

    You really have created a lovely scene up by the castle with the station. Just watching the trains go through the station was very restful. With the light subdued it gave a very evocative sense of a late summer evening. Some interesting new camera angles during the running sessions and interested to see your plans. Look forward to seeing how you get on. Stephen

      Your too kind Stephen, thank you. I am trying out different angles as the build progresses as until I get my mini cam and have a drivers eye view they all same to be the same video. I am watching you canal develop with great interest and hoping to emulate as much as possible on mine but in a slightly older period.
      Regards
      Steve

      @@lynganddistrict In case you are interested in getting some of the 3D bollards (3.99 for 12 and post free which I thought a bit of a bargain) I've added a link in the description to my last video to the item on eBay. I've been experimenting with an alternative product of the 'water' and I am going to stick with PVA! (pardon the pun) Stephen

    • @lynganddistrict
      @lynganddistrict  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Elvenhome That was my plan - Marklin has a very good video of how he does his still water with PVA and tissue paper, which is the technique I may adopt. Thanks for the link to the bollards!

    Hi Steve! Such a lot of work you're putting in and making swift progress once again! Love how the station halt has progressed, and the work behind it has all come together to make an integrated scene, with so many different parts! I know N Gauge Models do some nice quarry machinery for different eras, although their website is saying that sales are paused for the minute as they relocate premises! I like how the canal is progressing and can't wait to see how it hooks up to the canal basin at the opposite end of the layout! You're doing some sterling work Sir! All the best, Ian.

    • @lynganddistrict
      @lynganddistrict  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cheers Ian - I have been looking at PD Marsh and other suppliers for the quarry and barges but am not in a position to purchase anything atm. I am in no rush tbh. My main focus now is on the terrain and working out how the canal itself can be done as cheap as possible! I will be working on the camp site, riding stables and roads for the foreseeable future and may even "rest" after April as I will be on holiday and undergoing minor surgery .. then its garden time!
      Regards
      Steve

    Great bit of rock work. You certainly have it all planned out as to what you're aiming to do in this section of the layout. Always good to waych the trains running 😊 cheers Euan

      Euan - me? planned out? I'm flying by my pants mate - the next section I have no clear plan but just am developing it as I feel it as I go along ( and in budget of course). I know what I want to do but how and whether I can is another matter but hey its all good fun.

    Hi Steve, you’re doing a grand job on the scenic area around the castle it sure seem to flow nicely with lots of grass and foliage. Looking forward to what you do with the quarry and the canal basin scene. Cheers Gary

      Thanks Gary - I haven't got a foggy about what I'm going to actually do but I do know there will be a scout camp, riding school and caravan park - I'm thinking a bit of tourism is needed! Still researching canal basins and edging,

    Hi Steve great to see how your wonderful layout is progressing. If that was the last video till the end of summer, have a good one and enjoy. Colin

    • @lynganddistrict
      @lynganddistrict  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not quite yet Colin, still have a couple of moths but already spending less time in the shed and more in the garden as weather allows. I am away for two weeks at the end of May so will probably work to that date and then just keep the layout ticking over during summer.

    Hi Steve, This is not a criticism, and i know its your railway and rule one applies etc. But you appear to have overlooked a road of some sort for vehicle access to the castle, yet you have an ice cream than parked in the grounds. You could take away said ice cream van, but I think a castle of that size open to the public would have had some sort of access added in modern times. Especially when the railway was laid around it cutting it off from surrounding ground. If there is a road that I haven't seen then I apologise.

    • @lynganddistrict
      @lynganddistrict  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nope no road (as yet) It's a mystery how it got there but there will be some highways work going in at some point (or I move the van!). Thanks for taking the time to comment!
      Regards
      Steve
