My 18 year old daughter has a red one, and she loves it. I think the car is perfect for younger people in college, high school ,or any young single on a budget.
@@idenna100 I don't think so, she ended up trading it in (about two years ago) because the AC went out and no one knew what the issue was. It's a really small space in the back so depending on the size of the child (newborn, toddler maybe, but a preschooler and up probably wouldn't have much leg room).
This is definitely the car for me! I have no friends, so I'll most likely just keep the rear seats folded flat for cargo. I need something really small, fairly fuel efficient. I'm glad to hear a few positive comments on the ease of use of the manual transmission.
I had a blast driving this little guy I rented all over oregon cali and washington for two weeks. It was sluggish to pick up to speed - especially on some hills- but for the fuel economy - and the cool screen that also had the ability to plug my iphone into for my music- or siri giving gps directions through the speakers- it was awesome. I wish it had just little bit more OOMPH - but hey- its just a little SPARK! - Great for what it is - I'd be more than happy driving another one around sometime
I am a 46 year old woman.. My husband got me this car for my birthday and I love it.. I got the yellow one.. Everyone in my neighborhood loves it too..
THANK YOU!.... so many smug used cars buyers magically think used cars fall from the sky. Someone bought it before them. This particular car has been selling well, and clearly isn't a bad car for many people. I like small cars, and extra power is just frustrating now that I commute at rush hour... I can't used it ever, and its a waste at the moment. This is a car you use its maximum power potential often and that is far better than useless reserve power.
This car just got IIHS TOP safety pick. Got top marks in all the tests, side, moderate overlap, and small overlap. Pretty impressive. Many vehicles that are much more money did much worse.
I dont know whether I want this or the 2012 Honda Fit, for my FIRST car. I've actually sat in the Spark in person, and I love the sporty-ish exterior, and the interior is pretty great as well. But the Fit is great too. I don't like the exterior of it as much, but hey, it has extremely good reviews for reliability and safety, and it has great space (Even though that really isn't a major priority for me). I guess which ever one is a more comfortable drive for me, will be the one I choose. I did driving school in a 2013 Mini Cooper Countryman, and I LOVED the drive of it (Pretty unreliable car though). So whatever drives as close to the Mini between the two will be the winner. :)
I (my wife and whole trunk and back sit of stuff) just did 1300ish miles trip in Spark 2016, 40mpg :), mostly HW and some city driving. VERY comfortable at 70mph on HW, quite. What more can I say?
TyMajestik not sure if you already bought your car. But I bought the 2016 model few months ago (11k with discounts) It has 10 air bags so very safe, you get a rear view mirror, pretty good mileage, the tank is pretty small though 9 gallons. We did a 5k road trip and it could be troublesome if you are driving in a lonely highway as some of them goes for hours without any gas station. Since mine is base model, it has manual lock and manual window which isn't that fun. I love the car play. You should give it a test drive if you haven't already. I bought this in a hurry, you could also look in to Nissan Versa note
Very good review! I just don't get the comments from all the idiots though. You aren't going to get 30MPG CITY from a mid-size car. Another point is that this is SUPPOSED to be a tiny little car that's easy to navigate city streets and parking. This is also a GLOBAL car for GM, it's not a Daewoo, there is no more Daewoo, it's a Chevrolet, as much of a Chevrolet as a Suburban. You CANNOT get as much new car as the Spark for similar money and I'd hesitate to buy a used car without a warranty.
I dunno if they have the Diesel here in Britain (I think they only offer the 936 cc i3 diesel in India) but it would be very nice if GM brought the diesel out over to Europe and the US, y'see that way you get the economy of a diesel and the relative cleanliness of emissions plus the torque and oomph of the small diesel which makes it alot more fun to drive around town than the petrol.
If you buy one that is not straight up base model under 10 grand, you are not getting the car for it's intended mission. Cheap. Good on Gas. Simple and reliable. Buy a Honda Fit if you are going to spend 15 grand. They are barely more than that.
I think if they could give me all those features in that model for 13k then yea i would buy it. But you're reviewing the top version of it. which is actually expensive consider how small and not as fuel efficient as other mid size cars for the price. You may as well go and buy the Mazda 3 which has 155HP , 30 to 41 HWY. 17k VS this car at 16k
I wouldn't want to give up so much for a 30 MPG average. I can not understand why Chevy would put out this type of car with anything under 40 MPG average, also the reason I looked it up was the name [Spark] I saw one the other day and was thinking it must be electric.
GM sells the ChevY Spark Ev but only in California and Oregon. Search the web and TH-cam for more information, especially in TH-cam where a Spark EV outraces a black Camaro at a traffic light and wins!
In the UK we have these cars it's ok in the US you have a lot of suvs pick-up trucks I feel sorry for the guy in the small car when one of them hit it.
You all talking shit!!! I own old 2004 Daewoo Matiz. It is very good car. No engine damages at all. Over the years I had NO engine failures. It still go as it was new. And fuel consumption is about 4,9 - 5,5liters for each 100kilometers. I also thinking buy this one.
You can get heated seats in a Chevy Spark, standard rearview camera in a Honda Civic, maybe it is time for BMW, Mercedes, Audi and other high end car makers to stop charging for these things, especially in their top models, it is just insulting.
$13,000.-$17,000. For a new car, that price would have even Scrooge McDuck interested. It looks like you are getting value for your money here. My initial thoughts were, 'Chevy version of the VW Beatle.' I respect Mat Watson, and I enjoy his reviews. But there is one reason I prefer this guy's reviews in some ways. Mat can get unfairly harsh. He seems to often expect compact fuel economy, sports handling, luxury comfort, and estate space. This guy reviews the car for what it is, and seems to understand more that you can't have it all.
honda fit sport felt heavy and unresponsive and was very disappointed with the testdrive so ultimitely i went with a spark! just go buy a 70.00 gforce chip and unlock about 30 hp and then it blows away the fit hands down and is most definately not a class below the disappointing honda fit.
I'm very surprised this itty bitty car doesn't get phenominal gas mileage...but it sounds like (unless I'm missing something?) pretty average compared with normal sized vehicles.
Why does this guy feel like a Chinese company tried to create a prototypical American in a lab and they didn't get it quite right? The whole wasteland of car reviewers and car reviewing companies that have established brand names but zero audience is such a weird section of the media.
Never chevy cars only truck... and this reviews by the journalist are stupid... you can see that by their body language they dont really like them either
Too little to late. Had they brought this here during transformers they would have sold some. 30mpg? You get that in a mid size sedan. When you keep designing cars for women it's not going to sell. Throw in a high price tag forget it. This car is a shiny turd.
I'm 16 and this was my first car and it's a fantastic car
My 18 year old daughter has a red one, and she loves it. I think the car is perfect for younger people in college, high school ,or any young single on a budget.
obdiane she's so lucky :'(
I had one but I wrecked it. Now I have a Chevy sonic
Is it safe to put kids in the back , I need a car for my first time . Single mom just asking. Will this be a good car

@@obdiane thank you so much for this information
I rented this car from Enterpirse very recently. It blew me away. So much fun to drive. I was amazed by what this small car can do. Gas saver!
It was developed with Daewoo in South Korea under the old Daewoo Matiz badge. It is the Beat in India and had a Holden version in Australia.
My first chevy's.2013 base model. I love it
This is definitely the car for me! I have no friends, so I'll most likely just keep the rear seats folded flat for cargo. I need something really small, fairly fuel efficient. I'm glad to hear a few positive comments on the ease of use of the manual transmission.
Can’t wait to get me a spark next year
Love my 2015 Lime Spark I bought 4 yrs ago. I’m 65 and love how it drives. Just right size for me and cheap on gas!
I drove the Spark the other day and the interior is quite nice!
The best review! Thank you, Autobytel!

Cervo and Spark are most similar when the Cervo has a spoiler but the Spark has more defined lines and totally different tail lights.
This is for a minimalist state of mind, young or contemporary ;) someone with a practical way of living
since I will be a first-time buyer I liked the last few minutes of the review -- I think this car would be good choice for me!
Is the back of it the same as the Cervo?
I like this car, it looks cool and it's really cheap.
Kangaroo jack no it's expensive for me
I think these guys look really sharp. I notice them on the road. I live in a small town in American but I would feel no shame owning this car.
you're so clever aha I like the way you "plan" or at least present your videos! great job!
Did anyone buy Chevy spark way back 2012-2013?
I want to know the Manufacturer Price at the time.
Is this a rebadged Suzuki Cervo?
Think car makers are trying to tell you America needs smaller people not bigger car in the nicest way possible
cosgrove notts America is a continent not a single country.
+Das Böse oh my
+Das Böse ,the states need smaller people .It will be the downfall of your nation apart from shooting everything that moves
this thing is adorable
Nice review.
I'm thinking of getting this. Nice car.
If you look at the description it tells how much horse power the car has :-)

Saila Islam Haven't bought it yet, but wow, definitely will look further into it, thanks for the info! :DDDD
ONLY IF UNDER 10K, then YES.. worth it. Also look at Nissan Versa. Those are also under 10k base model.
Don't pass up the Spark EV, it makes 140 hp and 400 ft-lbs of torque! Plus is weight distribution is 50/50, so handling is pretty good.

You know for gernal knowledge💓 In India Spark is selling with the name of Chevrolet Beat💓
very good job on the video.
whats the fuel tank size? 10 GALLONS!
It uses all 85hp on the highway?! Man, I hope I don't give my passengers whiplash

frist entry? did he forget the aveo?
The Aveo is bigger, & got replaced by the Sonic.
still would make it the first if it was replaced

This blows away the Scion iQ. And a lot cheaper than the 500.
Whoever was filming this clip needs to take a course in videography...terrible constant "in and out" with the camera..wow
unique style but that's about it, little used hyundai elantra is WHOLE lot more car with better everything including gas mileage.
this car is made by deawoo car maker in korea..so are malivu and cruzer
Dont like the car but i like the fun review.
Thanks for debunking.

for the price I could get a Xb in a automatic
none of that back seat shi....nanigans..
this is a class below the fit... the sonic competes with the fit
"Almost European style" ?? This IS European. Same story with the Sonic (which is still called Aveo here in France) and the Ford Fiesta.
I am going to get a car when I am 15 but right now I am 12
I believe he mentioned 84.
Dorks need Cars 2
2:30- lol, we wouldn't be friends anymore
kind of asian look at front of this car. :)
lol
That's because it is asian. It was designed by GM Korea
Sounds rubbish on fuel
An engine that small and anemic should get way better fuel economy.
I'm very surprised this itty bitty car doesn't get phenominal gas mileage...but it sounds like (unless I'm missing something?) pretty average compared with normal sized vehicles.

yes and no, most people drive what they can afford and there are better choices, fuel mileage on this teeny weeny is not that great anyway;)
My dad just bought the mini car today and I feel embarrassed 😤

NO THIS IS a DAEWOO MATIZ in disguise. that's where the reliability standsout ....
Daewoo POS
A young person... Or a baby boomer looking to downsize.🤔
Looks like shiiiiit
