We continue our summary of the story of Lisa the Joyful picking up right where we left off last time. If you're a little foggy on the details, it wouldn't hurt to watch the last few minutes of the first part to get a refresher.
Note: I am an idiot, and the graves outside Big Lincoln's aren't the resting place of those that have failed in trying to attack him, but it's the random discarded and abandoned bodies of those that have died in the Wasteland. He gathered them up, and buried them so they may Rest in Peace. Props to Sofa King for calling me on my mistake!
Also, this part may be kind of... Lesser... I was originally intending to finish the game in this second part, but there's just so much to unpack in the ending to this game, I had to break it into another part. Part 3, the conclusion to the Joyful and to the Lisa series, will be coming out in a few weeks (hopefully a lot quicker than this one came out since most of the script is already typed up!).

@@BE-fw1lr Did you play Lisa the First at all? Cause its more about Brad's guilt about what happened to his sister and not being the big brother he should of been. Seeing Buddy/Nancy as a way of retribution. Having already been taking the drugs for years, that's all his mind can come to. After finding Nancy, this desire is brought out tenfold. That, plus the events of the game and whether you choose to take Joy or its given to brad forcefully makes this worse. Yes Marty abused Brad, AND Lisa, Lisa definitely got the worse part of it, and its implied that Brad either partook at times or just stood by. Lisa ends up hanging herself, Brad blames himself. Though i do still agree with your "WAAAH DIDNT GET THE ENDING I WANTED WAAAAH" comment lol

Does everyone upset at Buddy's irrational and out of nowhere character development not realize its entirely because of how Brad raised her and the Joy drug doing what its designed to do? Its all very much explained and expected of her situation.
People can change, especially with the help of others. Sure, Brad taught her that the world isnt fair and how to be numb, however, Dusty tried to teach her that violence isnt always the answer, going through similar training and sympathizing with her. Hell, she sympathized with him as well but she chose to Ignore her brothers call out to her and continue for her own benefit, telling him to shut up multiple times. She literally threw away her chances to have a better life, succumbing to be the monster that Brad made her into.
On the other side though I see what you mean. Children drastically affected by there parents and surroundings and the pills definitely didnt help.

@@thesaltgod4155 She couldn't change even if she wanted to. The Joy took that option away from her. Even if she tried going down that path, she was far too gone at that point and would always end up back on her path of mindless destruction in pursuit of her "freedom"

Probably a big part of the reason why buddy is hated so bad, i feel, is because of how badly she treated probably the last lawful good person in olathe.
@@killertrip10 they kinda forget why this super weapon failed. It causes loss of control which forces whoever took joy to chase his deepest wish no matter how little he really cares about it.

@@killertrip10 yeah, she can't accept that she isn't an adult and it's natural for adults to want to try and protect children. But to her, protection is the same thing as oppression. She's just totally delusional, I can't even sympathize with her because she didn't go through nearly as much torment as other characters who dealt with their trauma in far less destructive and cruel ways.
I dont remember that part of buddy kicking Rando. Holy shit !
Depends on the choices you made! My first playthrough, I dropped him, so when I was hearing everyone say they hate Buddy, I didn't really understand why. Haha.

You want to change the story because you don't understand it. Of course Buddy was acting irrationally, she was on Joy. It amplifies your deepest desire and drowns everything else out.

bro, she is not irrational, she was born in that crazy othlate, all the men want her not because she can save humans, but to satisfize their own sexual desires, they treat her like a thing, like a sexual toy, if she wasnt like that she would ended raped and dead. the only way for her to be free is killing everyone.
The tragedy of this story is that even if buddy succeeded and then had a kid they would never be able to be a mother because they are too cruel

Dude Buddy fucking sucks. She’s so pissed at Brad for protecting her, like, she literally hit the Jack pot with Brad. If it was literally anyone else, she would have lived a life strictly meant for breeding. Wouldn’t be able to protect her self, wouldn’t be able to wander free, she’d be living a fate worse than death. Rando just wanted the same thing (although he could have went about it a LOT better). Idc I hate buddy.

Big Lincoln has 3 forms. You can assume sidney did too and his former gang already beat the first 2 phases.
Cindy Gallows is a boy as stated by dingaling that Buddy was the last girl on Earth
Well actually, Buzzo hints at there being more women in the Painful. He say something along the lines of that Buddy "would have been an asset with the women". It's never really explained but it's hinted that Yado has a secret location somewhere where more women COULD be being held.
It's pretty unclear, though. "Last Girl on Earth" is more like a title, considering Buzzo/Yado are the only people in the world who do know that there are more women, if indeed that's true.
In any case though, that pedantic tangent aside, Sindy Gallows is absolutely male.

It was kinda funny cuz i beat big lincoln before gallows on accident, no joy or anything. Its not really that hard if you use sleep and debuffs well.

I was planning on playing this series for a long time, but after seeing this video, I MIGHT not do it. Don't get me wrong, I love me sum violent, disturbingly-gory indie games (like HM), but playing what seems to be the "genocide route" as the normal way to do things feels... odd.

Yeah, the game is quite "Painful" to play. I think that dissonance is part of the experience. You could get meta about it (like in Hotline) and say you can stop the genocide by not playing the game, but it just doesn't fit like Hotline Miami does.

The mechanics and all the little jokes he's not showing really make the games shine a bit more. The pointless or hopefull are both fan games inspired by lisa that are more optimistic tales about comradery. Rather than a twisted path of repeat abuse and neglect.
And they free yo. And you still got time to play them before squatch spoils them.

She does. If you play through joyful and don't take any joy pills, you can still get the bad ending.
I take this as she started taking the drug sometime after she got away from brad in the painful. Before she met marty.
Buzzo doesn't have any special feelings for buddy - save maybe a tool to torture brad - until the end of joyful.
She takes them in Painful and in Joyful

Another question which of the warlords were your favorite mine is Sindy Gallows
For Warlords: Sindy Gallows is just so badass, it's hard not to choose him. Outside of that would be Mr. Beautiful. Like Rando said, for him to create the community he did in the world they live is amazing, and he deserves the respect he's given.
For DLC: (This has spoilers, so don't read this until after beating the game if you don't want to get spoiled)
I had this idea of a continuation of the series that follows the child birthed by Buddy. In this scenario, it would follow the "Join them" ending meaning Buddy can't reproduce anymore (that we know of) due to her mutation, and the Baby would have been born a boy, unable to brith children themselves, making everything everyone did in the previous games worthless, as humanity is still marching towards extinction. The story would center on the Boy as he learns of the circumstances surrounding his birth, and struggles with how he would be looked at as a failure just by merely existing.
The name of it? Well since everything that came before it was pretty much pointless, I was thinking "Lisa: the Pointless", but...

The ending isn't determined whether you, the player, choose to take Joy, but Buddy has taken it, just not on screen (which does make it hard to explain). Buddy eventually has to make a choice to give in to her hallucinations, or take vaccine so she doesn't mutate.

Buddy taking joy is not presented on screen in the Joyful. However, in the Painful game, as Brad enters the cave where Marty and Buddy hide, Buddy explains to Marty that these blue pills "don't taste good. But they make you feel good." It's not a proper proof (Buzzo or someone else could have provide her with a description), but if Buddy knows how joy tastes, then she likely had taste it by herself.
By the way, I really enjoy your work on the LISA series. You're doing a great job, and as a fan of these games I find it delightful to listen to the story again and again (it's just perfect to keep me company at work).
That's very true! She was also seen sleeping with Joy Pills close by after Brad died/mutated. I'm pretty sure the intention of Dingaling was to make the game so difficult, it compelled you to use Joy and that was supposed to be the on-screen representation of her taking Joy.

Yes, she did. On LISA The Painful, she took Joy when she was with Marty, saying: "They taste to nothing." So the drug was already on her system before LISA The Joyful.
