It worked! I just bought a nyunga nyunga mbira on Amazon and many keys were out of tune. Generally, instruments are so delicate you do not dare to tune them with a hammer. But I was determined to do it, and your video encouraged me to do it.Finding the right place where bending the key was the most difficult part, but after several tries it worked. By the way, I used a guitar tuned clipped to my mbira. That made it much easier. Thank you, Erica, I love your recordings!
Good instructional video Erica. I would like to suggest another good tool for tuning mbira, that is the japanese nail set which you can get at Lee Valley Tools for about $8.50. and probably at The Japanese Woodworker. It has just enough weight to do the job, has a pointed end and is compact enough to put in your mbira bag ,,pants pocket etc.. Erica i look forward to more mbira video's from you.
OK, 5 months later: this mbira is tune in FA MAJ... Let us see how does it goes: (uper line) RE DO SIb LA FA SOL DO - MI DO RE MI FA SOL LA SIb DO RE (lower line) RE SIb LA SOL FA MI DO

Thanks for this nice simple demo ... I've always wondered if I'm bending the key in the right place
Thanks Erica, been debating how best to tune mine!
Will get right on it.
Hie the way yu are tuning the Nhare is it the same as tuning the Nyunga Nyunga mbira ??
This is an mbira made by Fradreck Mujuru in "MBIRA workshop pitch" nyamaropa tuning. You can get one at mbira.org
Que bien toca😁😁
A helpful tutorial! Though you make it look absurdly easy 😅
Where can a person purchase a Mbira similar to that one? They seem to be difficult to find.
If you're alive. You can buy true Mbira from the origins in Zimbabwe
does anyone know which tuning this is in?
2 hours later. I give up! Walk away
