I needed to hear this today. I feel so defeated with My English pronunciation😢 I’m 48 y/o and I have to repeat myself twice so people can understand. It’s taking away my personality and affecting my self esteem. I don’t know if I will improve at least some so I can sound slightly better to native speakers. Thanks for being so real and for opening up to your subscribers Haddar ❤

I am really glad that I found you. I have been facing the same challenges since I started this journey 5 years ago. I am now 53 and I come from being a professional speaker in Spanish, so allowing myself to be bad and make mistakes has been the hardest part. Procrastination and finding ways to avoid talking almost made me quit. However, something amazing happened. Looking for a typical job that requires little to no English, I somehow ended up in a call center answering 100 calls a day, 90% in English. This is God’s way of removing that barrier. Some calls have been a disaster, but most have gone well. I still struggle with understanding and the ability to express myself correctly and fluently. My goal is to reach the same level that I have in my own language and to be able to speak my truth freely and develop authentic relationships. Listening to this video makes me feel like this is possible. Thank you!!

I love your videos, they are so interesting. I'm a native English speaker and listening to you speak English I wouldn't think it was your second language. That's amazing. I've been learning Chinese for years and it's difficult to see progress. I can't tell if what I'm doing is helping at all. (It doesn't help to not live in a Chinese speaking community, I used to, but not anymore.) Like you said, I feel like I'm wasting my time, but at the same time, I don't want to quit. I want to be fluent and sound native like you do in English. Sometimes it feels impossible, but I think that's because I don't know what I'm doing, and I don't have a proper strategy as you mentioned language learners should have. The hard part is figuring out what that strategy is. I hope to be as good in Chinese as you are in English one day. Thank you for this video 💕

Ever since I started majoring in English language, with the perspective of getting a teaching degree, the impostor syndrome has been, as you said, a huge part of my journey and I've already considering giving up on my degree. But I've still been pushing myself really hard to not give in to that little voice in my head that tries to convince me that I'm a fraud.

    • @hadar.shemesh
      @hadar.shemesh  ปีที่แล้ว +7

Hey Michel! I just want to say that when you keep pushing despite that voice, you’re not only creating a better future for yourself, but you’re also creating a window for making a bigger difference in the world and making an impact. I have a feeling that you have a lot to say and do in this world. So next time when the impostor syndrome kicks in and you hear that critical voice in your head, find the part in you that will defend you and speak back to that voice and in favor of your mission. Just like you did when you defended me in the comments of another video 😉🙏🏽
So you can do the same for yourself ❤️

Mrs Hadar is such a great source of inspiration to any non native English language learner. I myself always thought, before coming across hadars channel, that it would be impossible for me to speak with clarity, confidence and have an American accent. Thanks to her, I did really improve a lot especially when it comes to my pronunciation. Even though there are some "content creators" seeking for Hadars pitifuls to correct them, to me she's still one of the Best teachers I follow.
May God bless you Hadar for everything you're providing to the community of non native English language learners

I learned English through reading but when it came to speak, oh my goodness. I was speaking from a Spanish's frame, no wonder I was lost. Then you came and told me: "forget Spanish because now we in a different planet",
Pay attention to the knew sounds because you can not produce what you don't know exist. Also talked about the existence of the schwa, the contractions, the stress on words and sentences, the etc, etc, Oh my God I feel like the eagle who lived all his life with his wins tied.
Now you came and cutted the ties that were holding me down, has given me a foundation and tells me: Fly, Francisco, fly, fly as high as you want.
I know I need practice but that is not problem...

Dear Hadar, thank you for this video! I believe the impostor syndrome is an attitude we choose unconsciously when facing old fears and challenging ourselves by stepping outside our comfort zone. Getting rid of it is possible once you realize you have it. The thing is that being alone makes it so much harder to overcome impostor syndrome, so it is imperative to seek help. This is exactly what I did when I joined NEW SOUND in 2021. Through this programme, I learnt more about myself as a woman, and as a human being, than as an English student. I am now officially a NEW SOUNDER (yeah!)... It is not only that I am able to speak English, but I feel free, authentic, and happy. It's all thanks to you Hadar and your amazing team. Your mission is transforming the lives of people all over the world, and you should be super proud of yourselves! I wish with all my heart that someday I will get the chance to meet you. Y:-)

You are so amazing! Every time I watch a video of yours I'm amazed how perfect your accent is. Also your spoken English is just unbelievable. I would like to share some thoughts about my journey with this language. I have been trying to apply for an English job here in my country and the thing is that I'm feeling so blue and disappointed with myself these days, I mean my English is so bad and the saddest thing, it is that I've learned it since 2015 but I still can't speak with confidence , fluency and express my thoughts and idea in a clear way. Whenever I have to speak I get so nervous, I can't speak clearly as well as I have so many mistakes and it is so frustrating that I wanna give up 😭 however my ego doesn't allow me ,you know. I mean I wanna overcome this fear and change my mindset , demonstrate to myself that I can do whatever I want, that nothing is impossible for me, that's why I am gonna work harder until I can feel confident with my English!!! and yeah I just wanted to get rid of some thoughts here lol anyways thank you so much Hadar, for all your effort and excellent work that you are doing, you are just marvelous and I wanna do all that you share with us.

Aaaaahhhh that video was really captivating and relevant !!!
Why ? Because to progress someone needs examples, we need to see it is possible.
Of course it is hard and you have to push yourself every days but you can reach it.
My brothers-in-law and my sister take some english lesson in Sainte Hermine, Vendée region France.
My brothers-in-law has his own business named équip'TP and my sister as has her own business named Papo'thé.
With two children. They take some lessons in english and my brothers-in-law told me, you know I do not know if I am going to carry on the lessons because it is time and I would like to use it.
I said no, you have started the lesson and you start to think that is going to be too difficult and too long to get result so you prefer stop.
It is a journey, carry on to go even if you do not want, it takes time to progress.
Do not listen this voice who are saying you should do that instead to be here or others people who say, it is a lot of time, you could do something else instead to go there.
Me I was really bad in school in english.
I moved in Uk and work one year in Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons at Great Milton.
It was really hard, I was commis de rang and the discussion with customers was almost absent in the beginning.
After my year there, I moved in Whatley Manor high level establishment as well, I started as demi-chef de rang and after 4 months, I got a promotion to be chef de rang. The year after I moved and worked for Wilks in Bristol, one michelin star restaurant as manager assistant.
I stayed one year. In total I stayed 3 years and a half in Uk.
It was hard but I progressed a lot in english.
In 2015 because of the Brexit and as well my envy to change my career, I moved back in France.
I had an interview to work for Idle Rocks in the Cornwall, Relais et Chateau, 1 michelin star restaurant.
They offer me the post to be restaurant manager. I refused it because I was at the end of my experience in hospitality after ten years in this business. I was at the end to work hard every days with no free evening and no week-end.
I work today as logistic manager and so work for a little french organic cosmetic brand near Angers, named Allonature.
Life is a journey, if you really want to progress on things it is important to be surrounded by good assets. Work, work, work on the long period and then one day you will flip and you will see the outcome.

in brief:In this video, the speaker shares her personal journey as a non-native English speaker, language entrepreneur, and content creator on TH-cam.
She discusses the obstacles and challenges she faced while learning English and building her business, highlighting three main difficulties: imposter syndrome, lack of strategy, and finding her authentic voice.
    1. Imposter Syndrome: The speaker experienced imposter syndrome at various stages of her journey, such as when she first moved to the US, during acting school, and when starting her TH-cam channel.
She acknowledges that the key to overcoming imposter syndrome is to keep pushing forward despite self-doubt and to celebrate accomplishments.
    2. Lack of Strategy: The speaker struggled with having a clear plan and consistency in her English learning and business building.
She emphasizes the importance of having a clear strategy, as it helps avoid wasting valuable time and prevents feelings of overwhelm and frustration.
    3. Finding Authentic Voice: The speaker had difficulty embracing her unique voice while learning English, as she tried to imitate others instead of developing her own sound. She learned that authenticity is crucial in language learning and personal growth.
They emphasize the importance of sounding like oneself, rather than mimicking others, in order to achieve authenticity and freedom in expression.
They discuss how embracing their unique voice helped their career and allowed them to create a global business, leading to financial freedom and personal accomplishments.
The speaker encourages others not to let challenges stop them from pursuing their goals and shares that they have a masterclass available to help others find the right strategy for mastering English.
The speaker's experiences highlight the importance of perseverance, clear strategy, and authenticity in overcoming challenges in language learning and entrepreneurship.

My most biggest fear is to have to overcome that feeling of not being answered by someone is like:
    - hola!
    -....
    -....
    -....
    -....
    It is still happening nowadays
