Hello bhaiya wanted to ask something, does University ranking or status of University from where we have done our master's matter for PhD abroad , do they check the student is from top universities?
Hello @dhruba jyoti bhandari. Well if you are from IIT then sure it matters since IIT has very high reputation all over the world. But generally, they would check that weather the education quality of your Master's university in on equal scale as their university or not. In Germany, they check this by using a website called Anabin and the status of your university must be H+. I have made a video on that on my channel before.
Sir I have completed my MSc. In Botany with Biochemistry Specialization this year and done dissertation work for 1 year during masters and looking for some intership work during the course of application for PhD I have one publication during my Bachelor but it's not related to the topic which I want to pursue for my PhD work. Will it have any impact on this PhD journey? I also work on a research project related to PhD topic which has been communicate but not published yet. Should I mention it in my CV? Lastly what are the attachment we will have to attach in the 1st mail of application Only CV or CV, Motivational latter and recommendation latter? Thank you sir for all the valuable information you are sharing through the TH-cam video, this helps us a lot.
Any publication that you have would help in your PhD applications. It reflects that you are actively doing science and your work is also being published, it's fine even if the paper is not related to the topic of your PhD work area. If a paper is in communication but not published, you should mention this in your CV. You can mentions the title of the paper, journal, authors and there must be a manuscript ID which you can mention. If you already have got some review from the journal reviewers, then mention that as well. Like your your paper is in 2nd or 1st review stage but this information is optional. In your 1st email, you need to send your CV, educational certificates (high school, bsc, msc) and motivation letter (very brief). In your CV mention atleast 2 referees. You do not need to send recommendation letters. I hope this helps. All the best for your applications.
Hii bro I'm second year student of M.tech and I'm pursuing my master's from BITS pilani. I want to PhD but i haven't any publication till now. I will start dissertation from August this year till May 2023 but i want to do PhD without any drop there is possibility to getting admission in European University in 2023
Publications surely help your application. The quality of you Master's University would not matter too much unless it's IIT. The recruiters are just going to check the status of your university from Anabin. The status should be H+
Sure, publications will surely boost your chances of getting a position. You would get preference over candidates without any publication. The whole purpose of publication is that your research skills have hard proof that you can do the work. So that helps. Start your applications in 1-2 months and remember to diversify your applications. Make a very brief and concise Cover letter, motivation letter and CV. If you are able to present yourself in the right way, even without publications, students land the position. All the best.
Yes if you have a publication, it's very beneficial for your application, but it's not a compulsory. You can get a PhD position without any publication as well. In the latter case, your work experience would count.
Sir, a Phd application states that one should following attachments are needed: a motivation letter, your academic CV and a statement that you are willing to look for additional funding. Sir, I wanted to know about "a statement that you are willing to look for additional funding", do I have to write another application in addition to motivation letter??
A very unique and interesting question. Well the document "statement that you are willing to look for additional funding" is not a compulsory one. There are fully funded positions as well as positions where you need to look for your own funding through some scholarship program. If you apply for a fully funded position, then already you have funding from the Professor's lab/University. This is the preferable option. However, if you have your own research proposal, then you can apply for funding in several fellowships available on DAAD. I have made details videos on various scholarships before on my channel. So as you see, its not compulsory that you have to provide a statement like this. It depends what kind of position you are applying for. I hope this helps.
Hi sir, I am looking for phd positions right now in Germany. I am preparing myself and doing the background research about the particular professors in various universities. I am from chemistry background. Completed my masters from central university of karnataka on 2018. Did one year project work at IIT Guwahati. Currently associated with syngene international as a research scientist with a total of 2 years 4 months work experience in organic synthesis field. advancI don't have any publications yet. I have some few questions. 1. How my job experience will help me to give any advantage or chance to get selected for phd position. My job is actually related to research work. As I have to do several reactions and purification on daily basis to get target compound which I might do in a same or related way if I will be selected. Hence my question. 2. If the research group has no potential funding right now but might get a funding in near future or if the professor is rejecting my application only based on their funding opportunity then how to approach him to support my application with any other external funding options like DAAD etc. Thank you in advance
Answer 1. Since in your job you were actually doing research in the related field, therefore, this would be highly beneficial for your PhD applications. The key challenge for you now is to write all your experience starting from your Masters in a scientific and concise way. Although you do not have any publications, but that is understandable since you moved to industry where publications are rare compared to academia, so it's fine. Answer 2. Funding is the whole issue of getting these positions. Of course you can try to bring for your own funding by applying via DAAD, but the process is not very easy. The DAAD research committee is going to examine your research proposal and then there is a chance to get the funding. The funding amount will generally be lower than what you would get from a fully funded position from the university. There are also other external funding options on which I have made 2 dedicated videos: Scholarships and Funding Part 1: th-cam.com/video/zLErwAjFNWc/w-d-xo.html Scholarships and Funding Part 2: th-cam.com/video/N_obX29wTdE/w-d-xo.html Also try to diversify your applications, do not get fixed on a single lab even if the professor is saying that he is willing to take you but he has no funding. You never know what works out. So keep applying in different places. Diversify throughout whole Germany. All the best. :)
It’s difficult to get any kind of permanent position in the university right after PhD. Generally people go for PostDoc positions or jobs in industry after PhD. In these cases, the initial contract is for 2-3 years. In academia it’s very difficult to land a permanent position in Germany. All the best.
Yes you are eligible for PhD even if you have a gap. In Europe, there is no age limit of starting a PHD. You should have research experience in your relevant field and that should work.
I have talked about several different portals where you can find PhD positions in the below mentioned videos. I would strongly recommend to go through them: 4 biggest institutions for PhD students in Germany: th-cam.com/video/3A0Gn1NcH-M/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/j5hE67whn4Q/w-d-xo.html
