Amazing video! I know I’m 1 year late to this but your channel is one of my comfort TH-cam channels. The hairy triton was interesting! Your videos helped me identified shells I’ve collected!

G'day Anne 👋🏻🏖️ I don't think you could ever be late 😉 I actually find it quite interesting to see which old videos get a bit of attention 😁 I ended up liking that Giant Hairy Triton waaay more after I cleaned it; it sits in my shell cabinet with two other Giant Hair Tritons that I cleaned via TH-cam Shorts 🐚🐚 but this one is the largest! Oh my goodness, thank you so much for your kind words ❤️ I'm so glad that you're enjoying the videos, and that they're helping you to ID your shells 🤩 just remember that I'm not always right...some of the shell species are very close in appearance. Thank you so much for watching 🥰

Oh wait, they’re called top shells?? 😮for years I have been calling them triangles😭-thank you for teaching me the names of these beautiful shells!!🐚✨ your videos have really encouraged me learning more about ocean life, I found myself being drawn in about studying these shell names 🥹truly fascinating!! have a great day,see ya🥰👋

G'day Selena 👋🏻🐚 Oh yes, they are called top shells, though some turban shells look like top shells too! I can't actually remember which one I found in this episode 😂 but, you don't need to know the names of shells to enjoy them! I'm glad that you do enjoy the shell names though; most shell collectors don't use the common English names; they might prefer to use the scientific names (which are Latin words). It's a huge field of study, and the names are always changing, if you can believe it! I am once again late in replying to you; I hope your exams are going well. I know you'll do great!!! Thanks again for watching 🥰

@@SandCoffeeRocks No problem at all! I love archaeology, so seeing what's basically present-day fossils is pretty cool! It makes you think if the fossils we find were once just as vibrant!
Also, I think you'd be more than just tolerable. I personally think finding shells with you would be so much fun since you know most of them by name! I love learning, and finding all these once-inhabited, and maybe even still-inhabited shells would be a treasure trove of potential education! Of course, that's the way I feel when I find any rocks, fauna and flora!

G'day Keith 👋🏻🐚 I'm glad you liked them! It was a great day for finding shells - looking back, I'm particularly pleased with the huge Giant Hairy Triton because it cleaned up very nicely and currently sits in my cabinet 😁 Also looking back, I think that calcified Lynx Cowrie was tossed aside by some other sheller...again, this one is a great one after I was able to sand paper away the white one top! I'm gushing, but gosh, it was a day that I remember fondly. Thank you so much for sharing the adventure with me 🥰

@@SandCoffeeRocksYou certainly live in a great location with such an amazing beach to explore. I am in the UK and even though we have nice beaches, we don't get them like you do down under or the shells. I have a nice shell collection that I gathered from the Philippines which is where my wife is from. Hoping to viist Oz end of the year. Brisbane is certainly one of the places we have in mind. Keep up the good work and keep your positive energy and passion flowing.

Good morning Maddie the 1st bonnet is awsome. The top cones the hairy triton is awsome as well. It is always hard to pick a favorite one when they are all beautiful. Sorry about miss spelling your name the other day but I did not go back and check. Or it spelled check the wrong word. Love seeing the live ones as well and that you make sure them into the water. Thank you for another wonderful shelling day. Such a great day. Hope you have a great day.

Good morning Toni 👋🏻🥰 I agree, that bonnet is so lovely, I’ve been admiring it constantly over the weekend ❤️ it really is hard to find a favourite with all of the amazing shells that turned up! I have my fingers crossed that I’ll find some nice ones for the next video too 🤗 I must go shelling… I haven’t been out for nearly a week because my car has some problem which is getting fixed today (phew!). That live Deer Cowrie was amazing, but it felt bone dry on his top and it was a hot day… I just had to make sure it was okay… picking it up, the snail didn’t retract into the shell, so I think it was also dried out; I hope I moved it to the water in time 🐌😮‍💨 Oh Toni, I don’t mind how people spell my name, “Maddie” seems to have a notoriously large array of different variations 🤣 As always, thank you so, so much for coming along today. I hope you’re doing well today, I know you’ve still got several long weeks ahead of you. Stay safe and keep up those spirits! Oh, I know how much you like the ocean sounds… I was watching a brand new sheller on TH-cam yesterday… no commentary, just ocean sounds and seashells from somewhere in Florida. Went by the channel name “SeasolSeashells” he seems like a good one to watch to see if the vibe suits you 🤔 (personally, I do prefer some commentary, but his videos are more relaxing than mine).

So many Fantastic shells today, Maddie!!!🐚🥰😍🤗 It was really hard to pick just one favorite!!!🤔🤔... so I didn't, I have 4. 😂🤣 My favorite is the violet moonshell, then the pink
Penshell ( both my favorite colors plus I have never seen those shells before) then I ❤ how pretty the lynx shell cleaned up!!! & I lied I have another favorite the very green erosia. I am a transplant from Jonah's channel Shellcade shelling down under. I was so sad he decided to stop shelling & taping but when I went looking for any of his videos that I might have missed viewing your channel popped up & I have been SO HAPPY with your videos. You have shown me new shells I never seen before & taught me more of the names for shells I thought I knew ( like I knew about the checkered bonnet & that some bonnets were not checkered but I didn't know the name for the banded bonnett & there is also a bonnett called a scotch bonnett.) I also ❤💖💜 your enthusiasm for these lovely shells!!! If you don't mind, could you tell me what beach you were at in this video. I know you have gone to Port Cartwright before but I know that you go to other beaches too. Thanks for all the fun times we get going with you shelling!!! 🤗🐌
P.S. the sand snail shell ( also a new favorite is my 5th favorite!!)

    • @SandCoffeeRocks
      @SandCoffeeRocks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

G’day Eva 👋🏻❤️ oh my goodness, thank you for your lovely comment ❤️ I want to write so much back, so be sure to keep scrolling down.
I can feel your love and passion for these shells is a rival for my own 🤗 and I agree, how can there only be one favourite on a day like that one? I absolutely love all of your favourite picks without question; that pen shell in particular is quite amazing, I’ve never seen a pink one before and still don’t know it’s exact species for sure... It sits next to me at my desk and I often admire it. Oh, the Lynx cowrie as well; it was totally worth the hour or more of wet sanding that I put into it ❤️🐚🤩 and the chestnut sand snail; no sanding required, I’m shocked at how glossy and lovely this particular one is. The violet sea snail went into its own little container; it’s very delicate.
I’m so pleased that I could bring the seashell names to you, I’m trying to learn them as well to make my videos more informative, and because I enjoy it ☺️ I call it a “scotch bonnet” because it looks a bit like the ones I see on the USA sheller’s channels, but it’s actually called an Angas’ Helmet (I found a lovely one with a crab inside in this morning’s video), so I’ll hopefully use the right name next time too 🤔
I go to a few beaches, but mostly Point Cartwright because it’s so reliable every day with its amazing shells. My second favourite is Coolum Beach (I plan to go there more over Xmas when Pt. C gets too popular to shell at for a while); there are a few “bays” down from to the main beach that have a trove of lovely shells. I also like Mooloolaba/Alex Heads beach, though I’ve only been there once and didn’t give it a fair go; I would like to return someday soon to try again. I also went to Mudjimba beach once, but there was almost only clam and scallop shells there… though I would actually like to try it again because Pincushion Island is quite lovely to see. On Facebook, I have a no-talking episode at a place called Sunshine Beach, though the shells are very few and very uninteresting to me there. Also, I have been trying to upload my video outtakes (deleted scenes, if you will) onto Facebook as well: www.Facebook.com/SandCoffeeRocks
I saw Jono at the beach a few days ago. I don’t want to get your hopes up, but I follow him on Instagram and he mentioned that he might put up a new video today. That’s just what he had written, so no clue what he’ll do, but maybe keep an eye out for it? 🤔🤩
Phew, I ended up writing a lot back to you (I hope you don’t think I’m a crazy rambler!), but your amazing passion and lovely comment really deserved it 🥰 Thank you, so, so much for giving my channel a chance, and for following along with my adventures 🐚 I’m glad that I could bring them to such a wonderful person ❤️

Good day Maddie, what a wonderful day shelling. So many nice Shells. I'll have to go with the lynx's cowrie as my favorite for the day. Thank you for sharing the rock shell. They remind me of the tun shell. As I'm sure you know by now, I'm a huge fan of all the shells. Everyone of them have such beauty. I find those little crown cones are just gorgeous. The markings and color are just brilliant. Again thanks for sharing. I didn't get a chance to comment on your last video. Wanted you to know I enjoyed it! Just love your sense of humor. Good morning Roberta 👋🏻🥰 It was a truely wonderful and lucky day of shelling, I feel like I’ve been saying this too much lately! Awesome pick for the favourite today, I’m so so glad that I could bring out the beauty of that Lynx Cowrie once again, it was worth the hour of sanding it 🐈🤗 Oh yes, the rock shells do look a lot like Partridge Tuns in particular, now that I think about it 🤔 they are so much heavier than Tuns though! I also really love the Crowned Cones, though ahhh, I’m guilty of picking up many off camera at times because there are quite a lot 🤣 Hehe Roberta, you don’t need to comment every time if you’re busy or don’t want to, I’m more than happy if you’re just watching and enjoying it 🥰 the people who actually take the time to comment are absolutely wonderful for sharing that time with me, which is why I love to comment back and say thanks 🙏 so thank you, once again, for joining me and sharing your thoughts 🥰 I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day too 🤗🐚

The condition and colour of this Chestnut-banded Sand Snail is miles about the one I found last week, it’s so glossy and lovely 🥰 Yes, I think the leafy one should be a type of Pen shell… it’s very small for a Pen shell though so I’m not totally sure what type it is, I have been admiring it many times lately; it’s strange but I really like it quite a lot. The tide was super low and just small waves; the areas I shelled at were further out that ever before 🤩 I love my Lynx so much, I was so surprised by its transformation 🥳 You have lovely picks for your favourites too, that hairy Triton was a nice surprise, I do say! I must have been out there for close to 5 hours (and it was low tide practically the entire time), I just wanted to keep looking but got tired 😪! Doesn’t it just make you want to drive for hours to go to Matagorda 🏖 ? Am I spelling that right? Hahaha, you can try to give Ninja a hug, but she’ll 100% hate it 🤣 such a fickle girl, she was such a cat that day 🐈 the Lynx Cowrie did not meet with her “Ninjapproval” 😅 (thank you for watching until the very end, wow!) Let me know if that’s the wrong shell though, and I have another look to get you the right answer. In any case, nice spotting! I’ll have to pick up one next time I see an empty shell, so I can show it a bit better to the folks overseas who don’t find them at their beaches. Thank you so much for watching 🥰
