    I remember playing with this. I played it so much I had the whole pattern memorized and after watching the led go back and forth a couple times, I would play with my eyes closed just by listening to the sounds of the gears until the timer stopped. Good times

    If you're from generation X and over 40 and never had blip or or any of the Tomy mechanical games you were neglected as a child lol

    I love the Tomy electro mechanical games as they are a work of art. The innovation in these things was ahead of its time. Definitely paved the way for the new and improved LCD / VFD not long after. I have most in my collection and 3 of them are still new. Pure Nostalgia. Blip will always be a classic. Thank You.

    I'm a huge Tomy fan... Matter of fact, I just refurbished an OnmiBot. The engineers at Tomy were geniuses.

    I had one of these in 1982 when I was 9 years old! I played the heck out of it. Memories flooding back. Now you've got me browsing EBay! Thanks for sharing, Willie!

    Playing this and Digital Derby was fun, even among the fully electronic games at that time :)
    I played this for the first time in ‘78 when the game had been out for a year.
    I have a copy of Blip… and it still works great. :)

    I got this Xmas 1978. It was an awesome game. Tomy also made Digital Derby in 1978 and was a fun game (I got one from eBay in the late 90s). It was a car racing game with gears and a steering wheel.

      I had a Digital Derby as well :), trying to get another one for a video to share my memories of it

    Note the contrasting styles in the showdown. Our boy uses the thumb-only approach on the buttons while his good lady favours the three-finger (or "tri-digital") technique.

    I got this new for Christmas back in the 70s and it was great . Remember it fondly.

    Wow, this was made before I was born, and when I saw videos, yep, before the GameBoys and the Tiger LCDs, handhelds were mechanical.

    Forgot about that game. When we got it we were disappointed as well that it was not ‘digital’. 😅

    12 guitar notes. I got a blip after fighting for a rain check. Zayre sold thousands of them. I played digital derby more. Digital ment fingers as digits are digits.

    I never owned Blip But I definitely played it at friends and cousins houses, and love these mechanical games! I had a missile game that I loved so much. I think I had several of them, because I literally wore them out. Surely those were made by Tomy also. I’m going To see if you’ve made a video on it by any chance. New subscriber! Great stuff.

    you need to set the score to "R" for the first receiver of the serve since every time you press serve it clicks up a number

      @SVT512  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    You should have set her score to "R" at the start, not "0". That way, when you start the game serving, you don't giver her a free point.

  • @CaboWabotv

    Blip was great until we figured out how to cheat by holding down 2 buttons at once

    • @will_it_work
      @will_it_work 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can't hold down more than one of the white 1,2,3 buttons at the same time. You can cheat by holding down the red Serve button, however.

    • @electron_greg
      @electron_greg 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@will_it_work Agreed. Impossible to press more than 1 button. There's a mechanism behind the buttons that prevents cheats this way. You [could] remove the anti-cheat mechanism very easily but I doubt anyone actually did that back in the day. I only know because I repaired mine recently.

    I wish there was an undiscovered world of vintage hand held collector-worthy games but there's really not. Most of these games are terrible. The only standout game is Tomy Hit & Missile which is an awesome game and worth owning.
