    wow that's a lot of power for such a small motor! I think the reason eBikes feel safer at higher speeds around 35 - 40 mph is because we're able to maintain the flow of traffic and travel at the same speed as cars.

    • @gursisingh1940
      @gursisingh1940 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      No 35-40 mph is not safe on a bicycle, I'd say max 30 mph is actually still good enough for traffic, if you fall at 30+ you getting hurt, a lot

      @warlockboyburns 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@gursisingh1940 you could say the same for a motorbike. I think as long as you have sensibly sized tires like 2.4" width then there isn't any difference.

      I just went 33 mph on my fat ebike today--over 30 is too fast--- and I have no clue--and I am an ex mountainbiker if these tires are made for anything over 35 mph.I got mine to cruise and do trails--I just like the torque part--extended hi speeds is not what i got it for.I know years ago when a freind worked at a bike sore--the high speed bike tires for like the tour de france types were very expensive and meant for hi speed.

    I actually have one on order, it was shipped out last night. I ordered mine with the Bac2000 controller. It will be arriving in 1 to 2 weeks, and I ordered it about a month ago. The company is really nice and helpful. I will be mounting it on a home built two seater recumbent tadpole trike. I would like to know what voltage you were running? I'll be starting off with my 48v batteries, but I'm in the process of ordering and building a 72v battery out of 21700 cells. My plan is to add a full fairing / turn it into a velomobile, in order to take even further advantage of the motors power. Oh, I believe that the motor you're running is the X1 Pro Gen2, the X1 Pro Gen1 (has no wait between ordering and shipping, I believe). Anyone looking at doing this should look into high-speed motorcycle wheels.

    I have the gen 3. I put it on an old Santa Cruz Blur XL. It's great, lots of power. I have set up 3 powersettings in the controller. I find that anything over 2500 watts is really too much for my bike frame and suspension. So mine is set P1 to 750 watts for the bike trails, P2 1500 for street and P3 2500 for fun. I rarely need to use 2500. If you get this make absolutely sure your rear derailler stays tuned to perfection and DO NOT shift under load.

I definitely feel safer when I keep up with traffic then it passing me by all the time cutting me off as long as I have juice disc brakes good tires. I am a Harley Rider so I know the rules of the road believe it or not I'm planning on a Texas or bus from New England I have people there where I was born I'm going to take good old route 1 to route 66 West young man go west. I've done the trip before but never on such a leisurely plan as I have this time I don't care how long it takes me to get there as long as I just get there and get there safely. I'll be pulling up sleep camper behind me it's a bicycle lightweight trailer 4 ft wide and 7 ft long. So if I do two or three hundred miles a day I'll be happy. Keep a KOA Kamping on America map in my back pocket. That, truck stops, and motel 6 with inclement weather. I've already done it a couple times on my Harley so let's get back to that motor. Did you build that battery pack with the other cells. I surely would like to talk to you about that a little more as I was planning on a 72 volt but they're made with 18650s also. I hope you catch this comment and can get back to me. I'm going to go back and take notes on the type of cells you used on your battery build. If you wanted a '50 mph' street version, where would you get the frame? I'd want something close to a very light motorcycle. The specs are impressive. It looks like a beautiful design, like the weight. The Inja made a 20 kw e-motorcycle on a Chinese frame, huge battery. His controller is gargantuan. His hub motor would not work so well for trails. This might scale up for a 10 kw street motorcycle, maybe dual, not highway speeds. Was wondering if it was US but site says Hong Kong.

      For higher speeds you don't want your steering to be too twitchy, so you need larger than anerage rake and trail, and you'll want full suspension to keep your tires glued to the road. The only way to adjust rake and trail on a bike as far as I know is to have differently sized wheels in front and back, a 29er with a rear 26in wheel for example.

      This motor has a torque sensor. I didn't focus too much on it during the review, but here's my take on it:
      The torque sensor on the bike is a welcome addition, since cadence sensors (I feel) are just a throttle controlled by your feet. At low speeds and off road the CYC torque sensor does very well, but the gearing of my bike couldn't keep up after around 20mph. At high output, the motor outpaced the gearing almost instantly, and I couldn't keep tension to engage the motor. Perhaps I should have gone with the larger front chainring from CYC (I got the middle one). The motor would still power after I lost tension, but at that point I was in "foot throttle" mode. The motor can shine off-road using that torque sensor, but that's only using a fraction of the motor's potential.

      I have mine on order. Just received my 21ah/52v battery from Electrify Bike Co. to pair with it. I'm converting a 2012 Brodie Bandit hard tail. Will do 3 videos. The first on the stock bike and drive train. The second after upgrading the drive train to a Box components 1x9 Box 2 Prime 9 Ebike drivetrain which I also received a couple of weeks ago. And for the third video I am going to open up the gearbox, clean out the stock grease and regrease it with Planetsafe AIM grease to see how much cooler and quieter it runs. The only bummer is I got taken out on my bike 10 days ago by an SUV and suffered a busted humerus proximal and ribs. Doc says I will be healed by the time the motor arrives in early April. So the timing is good. Cannot wait to get that motor on my Brodie.

    You are right - bicycles weren't designed to go > 30 MPH. Sure, there are road bikes that go down hills at 50+ not a good idea on a regular basis. I built a 1K watt BBS-HD and at 35 MPH top speed, it didn't feel safe. That said, the swift off the line acceleration at lights and when getting into a left-hand turn lane did give added confidence. The full-face helmet is a great idea. Gloves would be too as the hands will hit the ground first.

    is it worth going from BBSHD to this? not sure if the noise of this kit will become too much in long distances. So far I've been very happy with my BBSHD, reliable and durable... I guess what's not broken you don't fix. Don't really need my bike going 40+ mph, as you said, around 30 mph the bike doesn't feel happy.

    • @TimpBizkit
      @TimpBizkit 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're topping out at 30 even the BBS02B will easily do that. If you want to go that fast up steep hills then the Bafang will start to slow down and you will need to furiously pedal (I've had 15 mph up a 20% pedaling furiously and mashing the throttle). Haven't used the CYC X1 but could probably do steep hills at 30 based on power figures. Going fast eats your battery life so I tend to cruise in the lower 20s in assist level 2 on mine if I need to do a 40 mile ride, and even slower if longer. I might even set the speed limiter now I know it works.

    The ASI BAC controllers look nice but they are too expensive and hard to buy. They only sell an "eval kit" which you have to exchange a bunch of emails with them before they'll even sell it to you (and sometimes don't answer you at all if they don't think you're worthy). If they sold the BAC on Amazon for $199 and gave you the software, maybe a few general guidelines for programming it, seems like they would make a killing.
