I always loved so much how Red completely ignored his hat flying off and blowing towards the ocean. He was just so glad to see his friend again. So wholesome! 🥰
Red is a friend even to a missing man. As Red carves, "So was Red" next to "Brooks was here," Brooks is remembered, he's no longer alone! The whole movie is one helluva BRO-MANCE!
I love that there's no dialogue between Red and Andy when they meet again; instead, the last spoken words are Red's narration, which is taken straight from the original story.
I saw this movie in the theaters and that line hit me and I wrote it down on a desk pad when I got home. 6 years later it was the inspiration for a wonderful daughter Hope.
I’ve heard that the original ending was going to be different but after screen tests they changed it to this. Originally Red was just on the bus and he and Andy don’t see each other
For the movie, them seeing each other at the end was definitely the way to end it. It wouldn't have been the same or had the same impact. Not even close.
What an awesome year for film. Best picture nominees in 1995- Forest Gump, Pulp Fiction , Shawshank Redemption , Quiz Show, and Four Weddings and a Funeral .
Many people don't know but this movie is based on a book written by none other than Stephen King. So was The Green Mile. King is just not horror (mainly, but not only).
Yep. And this is one of the few instances in which the movie is clearly better than the book. Although the book is really good - it just doesn’t compare to the masterpiece that the film is.
My brother and i broke the law too many times that not proud of! But we happened to get our passports and travel to Mexico before the pandemic happened.. the beach scene always makes me tear up because we had the same experience 😊
I never would have remembered the name of the town, let alone how to spell to find it on a map. The movie would have ended with me reading the note and doing my best Homer impersonation..."D'OH!"
I had read the short story and had some misgivings on seeing this in the theater. I think there was only four other people watching it with me. It's one of the few movies where I teared up at the end.
Back in 1995, I was 23 and on a coach/bus of 49 burley middle-aged football supporters on a Wednesday night coming back to London from Birmingham. This film was put on, about a minute in a comment from the back of the bus was “Turn this shit off” but inside of 20 minutes an eerie silence descended over the coach. There was normally taking, snoring and background noise on a midweek game but that night, nothing. I soothed the wild beast until we got to drop off point, The journey was a little over 2 hours and this is a 2h 22m film and so we never got to see the end and there was bedlam. The next night I rented it from Blockbusters and watched on the weekend with my girlfriend, who initially didn’t want to see it but again 20 minutes in she was completely engrossed and we…sorry she, SHE, she was in tears at the end! 🥹
The whole point of the movie summed up in its final two words: “I hope.” The movie would’ve been great even if the last image was Red driving off on that bus. Just not AS great.

Still to this day one of the greatest movies of all time
Definitely
I can't argue with that.
And will remain one of the greatest movies ever made!
I'm reminded of the scene where Red makes the promise. There was no hesitation. He said, "Sure, Andy... Anything." No man is poor who has friends.😊
I would give anything to watch this perfect movie again for the first time. The end brings tears to grown men.
Your only hope is if Alzheimer’s sets in.
I'm so happy the director put this ending in. He was going to end it without the visual of the Red and Andy reuniting.
I feel like the lesson of hope being a good thing is such an important lesson for all of us right now.
I always loved so much how Red completely ignored his hat flying off and blowing towards the ocean. He was just so glad to see his friend again. So wholesome! 🥰
Andy and Red has to be the best movie bromance ever and it happened before "bromance" was a thing
“You remember the name of the town, don’t you?”
“Crap!”
Zihuatanejo
Red is a friend even to a missing man. As Red carves, "So was Red" next to "Brooks was here," Brooks is remembered, he's no longer alone! The whole movie is one helluva BRO-MANCE!
That ending was worth every single penny spent on reshoots.
Thomas Newmans score also make a big impact to this movie, very moving. The original Buxton is a town in Derbyshire, England.
I love that there's no dialogue between Red and Andy when they meet again; instead, the last spoken words are Red's narration, which is taken straight from the original story.

Red and Andy not seeing each other is how the book ends.

I can’t remember who told to change it but the reason was “you can’t drag people through that much heart wrenching and then leave them hanging”
This ending had me sobbing and clapping at the same time.
2:26 - Ooh. What a movie. I need some time to collect myself.
Not sure I’ve ever seen this masterpiece summed up so succinctly and accurately.
HOPE is my favorite word ✨.

2:57 It *is* a love story. A deep and true love that just isn't romantic.
The love of friends, of brothers.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🏳️🌈🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨
0:54 liteweight reacting always makes me so emotional
I only recently found her videos and you are SO right. The Band of Brothers reactions right now are especially emotional.
@ movies I’ve never been emotional for before. Seeing her cry just shattered me. In a good way, if that’s possible
The most amazing scene and score culminating in the discovery of the tree. Superb.
Still gets me. Every time. Hope is a good thing.
Hope is the only thing that motivates mankind that things can and will be better. Without hope we are lost.
This scene made me cry for the tenth time😢😢😢😢😢
I'm not going to lie there's something exhilarating about seeing young people cry watching old ass movies😂😂😂 Yes I'm sick.😂
No I agree! My son is 19 and I love that he's too the point now where he's starting to appreciate dramas I've loved for years.
The beach scene was actually shot in St Croix...
"This is so sad I almost shed a tear" --Me sitting here ugly crying.
Your best compilation to date. Thanks to these reactors, despite Ashleigh Burton not being included.
I believe that this movie is as close to perfection as any movie has ever been.
It's one of the greatest movies ever !!!!
My brother and i broke the law too many times that not proud of! But we happened to get our passports and travel to Mexico before the pandemic happened.. the beach scene always makes me tear up because we had the same experience 😊
My favorite movie of all time
That was what Brooks had been missing. A safety net, set up by Andy without his knowledge, a net of friendship, perspective and hope.
This is a love story, it’s the ultimate Bromance! 😊
Nice Reactions Everyone 😊
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
Written by Stephen King people! He does have some remarkable genius.
Shawshank and Stand By Me are the best films based on Stephen King's stories. Fight me!
What about The Stand, original tv series, granted not a film, but long enough for a few films. Also, I liked Thinner.
The Green Mile too🎉🎉🎉
His short stories always transfer better onto screen.
Misery
"Hope" is a good thing. At the movie ending i just hope that they won't be needing a bigger boat.😮
Best ending ever.

Love does not have to be sexual, it does not have to be a man and a woman.........deep friendship can be love

If someone doesn’t lose it when he’s talking about hoping the Pacific is as blue as his dream, I don’t want to know them.
I would've never found that stone 😔😔
I’ve read a lot of Stephen King, enjoy the happy ending… doesn’t happen very often.
Hope is a Good Thing
A masterpiece
This was Dr Nelson Mandela's favorite movie.
Oh starting the video off with the beautiful talent LiteWeight Gaming
And there are still people who criticize this ending.
NOT EVERYONE HAS SOMEWHERE OR SOMEONE TO GO TO.... REALITY CHECK!!!!
The whole point of the movie summed up in its final two words: “I hope.” The movie would’ve been great even if the last image was Red driving off on that bus. Just not AS great.
A plane ticket? I mean I suppose I can forgive it as a quick guess without thinking… I guess.
Still can't believe this lost to Forrest Gump. One of the reasons I stopped watching the Oscars.
That tree is in ohio i think it died
💯
It looks to me your responses to the responses are not real :((( Blah ! So not in sync therefore ...................... You disappoint !

@@shawnjohnson9763 Agreed
I hate Shawshank redemption
Your taste in movies immediately comes into question.
Well that's just like....your opinion, man.
I'm sure they will be making a new transformers film for you soon .
