For Using multi Protocol Radiomaster radios that have E129 and sub protocol C186. Not supported by Atmega328p modules.
you can use the following channel assignment
CH1 CH2 CH3 CH4 CH5 CH6 CH7 CH8 CH9
A E T R Take off/Land Emergency Trim A Trim E Trim R
Trims can be done to some extent on the AETR channels directly but if you push them too far you won't be able to arm like explained below. In this case use the associated trim Trim A/E/R instead.
Take off with a none spring throttle is easier by putting both sticks down outwards (like on the original radio) in Mode 1/2, not sure about other modes.
Calibration is the same as the original radio with both sticks down and to the left in Mode 1/2, not sure about other modes.
Please tell us if you do bind it to a Radiomaster TX. Will be interesting to know if it can be adjusted to fly with increased bank angle or the altitude hold turned off.
Would this also work with RadioLink AT10? the supplied radio is very very basic
@alishanmao was looking at getting a TX16s to fly this. Which one should I get to bind directly to this helicopter? Want to make sure I get the one that will have the correct protocol to bind to this. Appreciate any help you can give👍🏼

This is a very nice looking and detailed scale model of the MD500! For sure it might bring some new pilots into our hobby. And who knows, one day they might do the next step to fly 6 channel collective pitch helis and build their bigger HD 500 scale heli with a nice 400 or 450 mechanic inside! Very complete review!

This heli can be used with the Radiomaster TX16 using EdgedTX and the C186 sub protocol. Your videos on the TX16 are very good and even more valuable since you're using it with many helicopters. Please consider making a video about how to program the TX16 to use with the C189, and also the C186 if you could.

Favorite all time copter finally they get it, make affordable rc copters with accurate scale looks, can't fail, sell a pnp version too, even better. Let's hope the trend continues. BTW, if never heard of it check out an old movie from the 70's or 80's call Bird of Prey or Birds Of Prey. It has lots of great flying scenes with Hughes 500 and Lama helicopters, another favorite.
It's about time they realized the demand for affordable RC copters with accurate scale looks. Now we can all feel like expert pilots without breaking the bank. Who knows, maybe we'll even see a James Bond-inspired version soon!

Nice looking heli. Does it come with any spare parts? Are spares available where you buy it? Does it have 2 or 3 servos on th cyclic? Could you possibly swap out the Rx for a Futaba or Spektrum and bund it to a better radio? Thanks
seems like people say C186 E129 protocol will bind to it using radiomasters. will give it a try. comes with spare blades only

Additionally, I'm wondering I can use my Futaba T14SG transmitter for this.
i do not think you can use other radios, except that someone said maybe boxer and tx16s multiprotocol radios that have E129 Sub C186 protocols maybe able to bind
do you need to use the auto take off ?I seen a video were the auto take off went out of contorl.they lost it by hitting the stop button. they could of waited the 17mins for the battery to go down . then it would of soft landed.
you can use manual take off using sticks

I have a boxer transmitter and it only came with e129 protocol. I got the local drone shop to download sub protocol c186 from open companion

Would you be able to bind it to your boxer transmitter to see if it works and do a tutorial on setup on the boxer?

So I finally made mine a "6ch" heli but I changed the esc to with the blade apache esc. Which I have a spare of. (You don't have to do this if you can find the signal pin for tail and main on the original esc, i just don't have enough time) and for the flight controller I used my spare Trex 150. Now you cannot get usable negative pitch because there's just no room for the swash to go down, but fine by me, it's a scale heli. But what I'm left with is an md500 that can easily do realistic maneuvers, because it doesn't have self leveling. Now the easiest way to do this is literally put the omp m2 flight controller and esc. And one last important thing is make sure you don't have negative pitch curve, because the swash plate doesn't have enough space to go down. As for battery, I went with the original for now all because of simplicity and I have 3 already. Once the battery is done I'll change the plug to xt30
One of the reasons why i changed the flight controller, is that this heli actually is bad flying backwards. You could try it. If you fly backwards, the heli will try to pitch forward again. And it's annoying because when you are trying to even just hover, if you correct the heli to pitch back, it will pitch forward. It likes forward flight. But for some reason, the flight controller gets confused when I fly backwards.

Hi I was wondering if you could help me with my one i did everything the manual said and I did the ato take off and it just flies away so I did the ato stop and I did it all over and it still flies away so can you please tell what is wrong with it please.

Would that extra port be able to power a tiny 5.8ghz FPV cam?
Should be but all you will get jello filled videos because the main rotors make lots of vibrations

I got the answer from a TH-camr.
I finally found how to switch the transmitter to mode 1! You must push the mode 2 throttle trim up and hold it in this position while turning on the transmitter. then we release the trim button and push the right stick to the high position then to the low position. and the transmitter is in mode 1 and it will remain so each time it is switched on. To return to mode 2, it's the same operation except that you activate mode 2 by pushing the left stick to the high position, then to the low position.

Many guys have a "fly away" is there any fix solution? Mine fly 5 times fantastic but at 6 of auto start its fly away impossibel too hold with sticks down or up !Luckily it hits a big tree!

As for finding protocol for Tx16s. I know it is a lot of work, you could just try to bind to each one until you find the one that works. A lot of work I know, but possible
Try the protocol e129 sub protocol c 186 on your ts16.

@@aureliusprimus I just received it but as we are leaving China and moving to another country, today I shipped the AS350 to Shipper and it will be on the ship to our new destination. probably i can post a video from a new place where we will move after I receive it after a month or more. so you gotta wait. no choice. right now i can't do anymore videos. I just have videos scheduled till 3rd November. 2nd november we will fly out. all our luggage is gone, rest is packed and we are just waiting.

The original design of this helicopter aka "Little Bird" was made for the CIA and special forces by Hughes Aircraft of Howard Hughes fame. Bell helicopter merged with Hughes in the 1980s but the original design of the little bird has not changed beyond improved turboshaft motors

The OH-6 was initially made as a light observation helicopter to scout for troop carrying Huey’s and attack aircraft. The CIA did use a Modified OH-6 with a muffler type design on the exhaust nozzle to suppress the noise and added a 4 bladed tail rotor and a 5 bladed main rotor and named it “the quiet one”. Hughes Aircraft Merged with McDonald Douglas not Bell in the 1980s. HUGHES aircraft designed and produced the OH-6 loach and then the HUGHES 500 - the civil model. Hughes aircraft also designed and built the AH-64 Apache in 1997 MD merged with Boeing which kept the rights to the OH-6 and AH-6 Littlebird and of course the Apache.
MD helicopter became its own thing and kept continued to make new models of the Original Hughes 500. Boeings version of the MD500, the OH-6X is more powerful and more sophisticated than the current MD500 with a 6 bladed main rotor and 4 bladed tail rotor and it’s even capable to fly unmanned and can be controlled by the front seater of the AH-64E Guardian.

That is a good question, if it is advertised as beginner friendly with that as the bid attraction, it should come with it equipped
i believe the samples sent to Reviewers like I got one and i believe captain drone did a review of it before mine. those samples for reviewers do not have optical flow but mass produced ones may have it. anyway i like it without optical flow

Fly Wing take note: Black skids on a scale military heli, not white. 😂 Looks like a better radio than the more expensive Yu Xiang F06. Then again, it couldn't get any worse than that POS. Tail rotor is on the correct side!!! So CCW mains? I will try to bind with my Zorro. I'm going red/white coast guard. It says optical flow is an option. I'll pass.

Do not purchase through makerfire... I bought one and it was defective and contacted the company about a replacement as soon as it came down to replacement they stopped responding to my emails.. sent them videos pictures etc... And no response.. stay away from the company makerfire..
