11 HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE MANAGERS
MANAGEMENT HABIT #1 - Successful managers TAKE OWNERSHIP of all situations within their remit. There are NO EXCUSES! 01:32
MANAGEMENT HABIT #2 - They always SET HIGH STANDARDS from the get-go. This gives them a reputation as someone who will not settle for anything but the BEST. 02:14
MANAGEMENT HABIT #3 - They always LOOK TO IMPROVE, and they never think they have reached the pinnacle of their career. 03:16
    JOCKO WILLING EXTREME OWNERSHIP BOOK:
    www.amazon.co.uk/Extreme-Owne...
MANAGEMENT HABIT #4 - They LISTEN more than they speak. 04:10
    - Listening gives you time.
    - Listening gives you options.
    - Listening gives you knowledge!
MANAGEMENT HABIT #5 -They realize the importance of BUILDING A SUPPORT NETWORK around them. 04:53
    - Great managers treat people with respect, and they command respect, too!
    - Great managers will BUILD RELATIONSHIPS with team members, contractors, suppliers, and other managers so they have a solid support network when it’s needed!
MANAGEMENT HABIT #6 - Sometimes, they do NOTHING! 05:57
As managers, we think we must make decisions all the time! This is not true…
There is power in the words…
“Let’s wait and see what happens!”
Whenever something happens, ask yourself the question:
“Do I have to make a decision right now?”
MANAGEMENT HABIT #7 - They master the art of FILTERING. 07:06
Step 1: Draw up a list of things you need to do.
Step 2: Prioritize the most urgent and most important tasks.
    The rest can wait.
MANAGEMENT HABIT #8 - They GET TO KNOW THEIR EMPLOYEES. 08:11
    - They speak to their team members.
    - They find out what their strengths and weaknesses are.
    - They find out their career aspirations.
    - They praise them.
    - They provide honest feedback.
MANAGEMENT HABIT #9 - They seek FEEDBACK. 10:11
Highly effective managers are not afraid to ask for feedback.
Once they receive feedback, they decide which parts are useful!
    Use feedback to your ADVANTAGE!
MANAGEMENT HABIT #10 - They make decisions BASED ON FACTS, not emotion. 11:03
    - Many a poor decision is based on emotion, or ‘in the situation’ thinking!
    - Take note of the FACTS, and then make your decision.
MANAGEMENT HABIT #11 - Great managers have someone to help them (a mentor!) 12:46
If you have someone more experienced than you to guide and help you, you will learn much faster!

I’m 19 and have been a lead for about 6 months now (entry management position) and soon will be promoted to an Operations Manager. Throughout my experience (especially at the beginning) I was soft spoken, hesitant and would let things slide due to my inexperience. Not too long after, I would quickly learn how all those traits would negatively affect not only the performance of my store, but how employees perceived me. I learned quickly that in the end of the day, you shouldn’t care if someone doesn’t like you or not. My 2 main priorities are ensuring the safety of my employees/customers, but also ensuring that our store stays consistent in positive performance. I quickly learned the importance of being a leader and I don’t think twice now about reprimanding an employee if they jeopardize the safety of others and the performance of our store. Being a leader takes sacrifice, and truly I could care less if some people don’t like me for being strict, but if that’s what it takes to ensure success, I won’t think twice about it.

Hey, how are you holding up? I'd love to know how the dynamics are at your work place since you got promoted as the newest employee, if you'd like to share. Did you manage to earn your team members' trust and respect? And do people have prejudices since you're younger and newer?

    • @zanyjosh4047
      @zanyjosh4047 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kimnganngo3808 I'm doing fine.
The workers really do what they want, because my authority is torn down by upper management. At this point I'm having to do my job and all of theirs because he tells them they can leave whenever or just no call no show.
I'm really just doing it for my resume now. If I left, even for bad upper management problems, it would tear down my chances of applying for a manager position anywhere else.

    Habit #6 is helpful
I had 2 employees argue over a little disagreement. I had talked to the team before to never blame others for work that can be resolved quickly so I didn’t know how to make them get along. I just let them continue working silently eventually one stepped up and both started to get along. I felt if I had intervened I might have made it worse.

I've been a manager for the last 8 years. From solo projects up to 17 employee facilities, I've recently accepted a general mangers position at a multi billion dollar international company and find myself watching and taking notes from everywhere possible to improve my capabilities and understanding. While most of this is pretty standard information I still find it helpful to write out in my own words and review the process. It's always good to remind yourself on the steps you're taking to improve and advance your skills.

@@waylonmercy8125 This is a false equivalency that falls apart under basic scrutiny. A few things: A notice is a courtesy given to an employer/business so that your teammates don't suffer in your absence. When you leave without notice, you're fucking your peers over as much as, if not more than your managers. Remember, your peers will very likely be the ones to pick up the majority of your slack.
Now if your work environment is truly awful, and you feel you're being disrespected, then fine, do what's best for you- If this issue seems to follow you wherever you go, then I hate to tell you, but you're the common denominator. Beyond this, if a manager is terminating properly, there should be ample notice given in the form of verbal, and written warnings. If you, the employee, chooses not to heed these warnings, then that once again places you at the center of the issue. In extreme cases, a termination might happen immediately (such as in the case of violence, sexual harassment, etc.), and it should. Would you prefer your managers to turn a blind eye and leave the team in potential harms way? With all this in mind, I'm very curious as to how you managed to form your original thought, and how you feel firings would occur in your ideal world.

Listening also builds empathy, so it is a great great advice to modern leaders and managers. I myself advocate this in my channel and I feel good to hear that in your channel as well. I have just stumbled upon this video and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I am in a position of Company Director and Shareholder of my fathers company. Currently trying to navigate the next step as my old man is a bit old school and I have to work very hard to get to the next step (I totally understand this.) However, you are the 4th video I have watched this evening that has said you need a mentor....I am going to bring this up with him tomorrow. A bit of coaching also helps along side the extra hours and self improvement!
Thanks for the video....I have made notes and will be sure to check out your others!

Thanks so much for this video 👍 They're on about making me a team lead overall on projects in work and I'm a bit scared. I feel like I could do a leadership position... But obviously not used to this... Altering my eyeline to viewing my work from a "subordinate" position to a oversight position not on the same level (even though I have been overseeing, without being told to, but having it made official) is going to take a little while to set in. I love the way you speak, authoritive but not condescending 👍 aspiring to have the same confidence. I want to bring the best out of people and myself... Let's see where this goes...

Improvement is a forever progress. As an illustrator, I am aware about how easily satisfied I was because I got new job. However, as the time passed and I grow my skill, I always set this as my habit to keep myself engaging in many new things. Also the crucial thing is managing time. It is an important skill to handle the artblock and the tight deadline.
