    They are off to an incredible start. Love the floorplan and the quality of the trailer👍I have only one suggestion to pass along to Ember, please don’t list a starting MSRP of $33,000 and then list over $15,000 of “mandatory” options😳😳😳I know the vast majority of manufacturers have mandatory option packages, but it ticks me off every time I see it. We all know that a mandatory option isn’t an option at all, it’s just a deceiving way of lowballing the starting MSRP. If they just throw out the real starting price, people will appreciate their honesty and respect the Company for doing so👍

    Love the innovation! Two issues for my family, one the east-west bed even though I like the full-size queen, two the 1000lb cargo capacity, with 1/2 of that in water weight, and I could easily use up the other 1/2 of the cargo capacity by upgrading batteries and clothing lol. Would love to see Ember go a few feet longer, add a second axel to increase cargo capacity, add a pantry area, and allow for a "walk-around" north-south bed, and this would jump to the top of my list!

    Hey Josh... Viewing this video a little later, but a couple of things I've notice with Embers:
    1. The front LP/Battery box needs to be a little taller to allow larger LP tanks. If you are off grid, that would help.
    2. In lieu of the outside kitchen space, make that a space & wired for a Generator. Again, a plus when off grid.

    Swap the 2nd couch for a flip-down countertop and some folding chairs or stools. Make the upper bunk fold or slide out of the aisle, delete the outdoor kitchen, and add a small pantry/closet with room for a dog kennel, desk, or double closet. These Embers are really fantastic, I can't wait to see what they're producing in a couple years!

      I'm thinking instead of the couch a small table. 2 box seats with storage, the front seat could have a flip backrest like a boardwalk bench so you face 2 people on the Murfy.

    Nailed it! Love the perfect combination of compact, yet spacious; tough and rugged, yet stylish and refined; minimal, yet well equipped.
    I have no opinion on the swoopy slanted paint accents around the windows one way or the other.
    I like a nice, big, functional outside kitchen because that's where I do most of the cooking- unless the weather's bad- but I can understand why people who don't would prefer to make that optional.
    I love the addition of the shower miser and the other changes they've made based on feedback. I still love the "EmberGlow" amber night lights/ accent lights. Love that idea of locking the chocks. Love the wood-less, double Azdel construction and just the top notch quality. Would be perfect for us... if it didn't cost almost as much as our house and we had a vehicle that could tow it... But I'll keep on dreaming.

    I totally love Ember we finally have an US RV manufacturer to compare to the Australians. I finally found the RV for me Thanks Josh!!! My only concern which is not a deal breaker is the shower 🤔 Simple terms it look cheap!! I would like to see a one piece fiberglass shower with metal fixtures. The roll away shower curtain is fine. Don't take my comments about the shower to heart Ember your doing a great job and are the Elon of the US RV industry. Your lucky to have Josh and his team selling your coach. Happy New Years and best of luck!!

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I actually asked about the shower when I saw them. What you see used here was a conscious decision actually due to weight. They knew they were a little heavy and didn’t want to go adding to it if they could help it

    • @ecotrials
      @ecotrials 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Speaking of Elon, I am looking for something to tow behind the Cybertruck. Obviously the lighter the trailer the less impact on range. Even with the biggest battery with over 500 miles of range, towing this trailer is likely to halve that to around 250 miles. Actually I think the sloping roof may contribute to a more aerodynamic shape. But perhaps a version that maintains most of the quality but focuses on weight reduction and aerodynamics. If done right this could be really well received by some/many of the over 1 million Cybertruck reservation holders. The current shape might go well with the angular Cybertruck design but attention should be paid to maximizing the aerodynamics of the CT and hooked up Ember, again to focus on maximizing range. Also, have a 30 Amp shore power connector available near the front of the trailer so it can plug into the 220 plug in the rear bed of the CT. Woohoo! Should be an awesome pairing.

    • @ecotrials
      @ecotrials 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      One last point, Ember probably has a year or so to figure it all out. If Ember is ready when the CT hopefully begins production in 2023, they might have a huge new market to get their fair share of. Good luck! Come up with something we can love, even more than your current offerings, which look like the will improve over time.

    Great job Ember!
    This is my favourite floor plan so far as I’m not interested in a trailer with a slide and I agree with Josh this seems to offer a better kitchen layout and more storage.
    We are a family of 4 and therefore storage is important so here are the few changes I would like to see to address that.
    Give me a permanent queen bed at the front with more interior and exterior storage as well as allowing for overhead enclosed cabinets across the front for Mom and Dad.
    A small traditional dinette that again adds storage and would allow the table to be set up and still access the kitchen which the current set up appears to limit opening the drawers and movement throughout the coach.
    Delete the outside kitchen and fridge entirely. We already own camp stoves and a bbq and portable solutions allow us to take these on day trips away from the trailer.
    I am excited to see what Ember comes up with in a 21 foot dual axle bunkhouse. We are looking for a retirement trailer to tow behind a Jeep Gladiator Rubicon so we are limited to a 765lb tongue weight and a max weight under 7000lbs.
    If the next size up pushes our limits this would be a great set up with the changes mentioned.

    This is my favorite type of layout, a small no slide bunkhouse with a huge camp side window. Bonus points for it being a cargo bunkhouse with double double bunks! It's a combination of my two favorite budget campers, the Wolf Pup 16BHS and the Salem/Wildwood FSX 179DBK, but with *huge* upgrades to the materials and construction!
    I'm trying to find something to dislike about it, and I can't do anything but nitpick on the fact that maybe the wheels are a little ugly? Understand that I really struggled to come up with that! 🤣
    The tongue weight is a bit more than I'd feel comfortable hitching up to my midsize truck, but maybe without that tongue box it would work? I just wish it was closer to my entry level budget, but I can (and will) continue to admire these trailers! 😁

    • @JoshtheRVNerd

      I've actually wondered about ordering these without that tongue mounted gear box. I feel like it really completes the look of these but man.. every bit of weight is really counting on these right now between their beefier overall weight and their hitch weights

      @@JoshtheRVNerd I completely agree. It's like a spoiler on something like a Mustang, most dealerships order them with it, but then you see one where the customer didn't want it and it just looks weird!
      But yeah, these campers are a situation where looks are deceiving. They look midsize/SUV towable, but with so much tongue weight they're probably better suited to a half ton.

    • @JoshuaParks
      @JoshuaParks 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve been doing a deep dive into the entire set of Ember RVs that are currently available. It appears that they ALL have surprisingly high tongue weights, particularly so for the 17x’s - they also are meticulously in the recommended tongue to overall weight when fully loaded. Thus, I wonder if these would tow as well as they do with less weight on the front. Put another way, although they made them attractive (to folks like me), I wonder if the gear box, and placement of the batteries, inverter, etc. forward is an offset to the placement of the wheels further back. Given how well these are reported to tow, I don’t think removing the gear box or trying to decrease the tongue weight on this is a particularly good idea. But I’m not an engineer and didn’t do particularly well on my high school physics. (I have seen the awesome video of what the fake trailer looks like with a bunch of weight in the back versus the front tho!).

Otherwise I loved the unit and it felt solid and very livable. It is actually the only unit I’ve ever felt 100% towards and didn’t feel like I would be settling for something I really didn’t want.

    excellent trailer, love 2 sofas, probably would leave bed down most of the time, bunks i normally dont like but, not much else for storage, that bottom one flipping up for bikes and such is the main feature that makes the bunks a plus rather than a negative. would be nice to make top bunk flip up, or take it out mostly, leaving just a shelf up there even with bottom bunk folded up, netting or cabinets there instead, still leaves one bunk available if need it, more storage above it, and taller toy area... could stand skis up in the corner instead of lay them down etc. half folding bunk on bottom, half cabinets up top instead of window and bunk above. only cuts total sleeping space by 1/4 to 1/3, but doubles storage space, cabinet and open space both. unless you have 6 people in there, 6 people in there it will not matter, still room for 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 kids, which is more than enough people in something this size anyway. if you have 4 kids or 6 people going often, you probably need something bigger anyway...... now i think of it, if left that top window there.... if did it right, they could make that top bunk / cabinet change over could even be swappable at the dealership as easy as adding another a/c. rather than have to do it at factory manufacture level, just use a back wall of the storage insert to block top window, no need for your supplies to look outside, nor anyone in at them... could be swapped out in 30 minutes if have the storage section premade just sitting there like other options are.

    I love this. Been looking for a double bunk with a proper bathroom that’s not cheaply made, has no slide and is smaller than 23’. And it looks great, too! This is a unicorn! I’m more than happy to give up kitchen space for bunks. I like the sofa with tables. Maybe two Lagun tables like you see in the AIrstream Basecamp that can come together and move apart would better in the tight space. Would also prefer double axle. Is the bathroom sink plastic? I could live with that, but with the price tag it would be nice to have an aluminum sink. For the windows, can you make them like airstream where you don’t have to open the screen in order to open/close the windows. Makes it easier to keep the bugs out at night. IMO, I’d rather have this than an AS Basecamp or Caravel or a Lance. One last wish list request? Can you figure out how to make a slide that can be manually cranked? Husband is against slides bc they break down. This really is a dream rv. Great job!!!

    Excellent and detailed reviews as always! I've been looking for a TT for years and follow your reviews. I was settled on Jayco but given there is an indirect connection to Ember and similarities. I am now leaning towards Ember. Really like that they have taken cues not only from the Jayco quality, craftmanship, capacity and warranty but also taken cues from other manufacturers. From the true off-road suspension that you typically only see in Aussie manufactured trailers with the Curt suspension. To simple beneficial upgrades with the shower miser and a stargazer window. Also love the fact they realize that the mattress should be completely hidden when folded away. Whereas others allow the mattress to still be seen. Never, understood why they thought that was okay. Much cleaner look with the Ember configuration. Looking forward to your review of the 170BH! Keep up the excellent reviews!

    Definitely, this is my favorite Ember coach too. Top 5 no matter the manufacturer or model.
    Agree with your comment about the window shade extending from the bottom up.
    The removable ladder that can be hung on two sides is great. Any OSHA or safety code will tell you the inclination is similar to what you did at the end of the video, extending it approx 3Ft over the roof.
    Does the hitch is 2"? It seems small and 2in is the most common one.
    The outside storage lid straps will rotten with time. What about a rubber-covered metal wire?
    What about that black dome? Is that a WiFi ranger with SIM card/satellite internet capability?. A TV-CD combo set will be great too. It is for Overlanding but entertainment for the family makes life a lot easier. Especially when the weather doesn't help.
    Can the Max Solar Package be ordered with Lithioninc batteries instead of Battleborns? A Lithionic battery is 305 or 315W vs the Battlebon's 100W.
    What about roof rack? Aong all other hundreds of potential uses, I'll personally use it in two ways:
    1. I have a big roof cargo box. Like 7ft long. I will store things that I want to keep in the RV at all times but don't use often.
    2. The 2nd possibility is that I have a long and heavy fishing kayak. I will use the cargo area for something else and install one of those side load-assist kayak thingies on the roof rack.

One thing I love is those windows, the design of them, the way they open, and being up in the north I can tell you that thicker windows can be huge when you are dealing with cold nights. Two things I don't like is the weight limits but I understand that there isn't much they can do there, just shows that I think they will really benefit from the second axle. If this is what they can do with one set of wheels, I can't wait for them to show what they can do with two. Second thing is kind of minor, I love those orange lights but having them on a dimmer instead of a switch would make it great for night lights and for use in inclement weather. Perfect model for Quest family adventures! Seriously, Great trailer. Full queen Murphy bed, OTG everything and I like seeing more non-dinette floor plans like this, good bathroom space too. The suspension is ‘totally rad dude’🤙🏼. Looks like it can handle some bodacious trails 🎒🗺 But payload-wise it’s somewhat flaccid.

    Josh perfect!!!! One question...does the 2nd couch fold into a bed? And one simple suggestion that will cost Ember $0... please, please, please have them reverse All the shades so privacy shade comes up from bottom and bug screen down from top...that way you still get circulation but anyone could walk around naked and have privacy!!! Lol...same idea you mentioned with the door...they just need to reverse it!!! Easy peasie!!

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I despise the dinette and the bed that takes over the whole bedroom. So I took my dinette out, made that my aviary (I have a couple parrots), and I cut my bed down in my draped bedroom area and made a nice "day bed" so that I also have my computer desk. I mean if I sell my Jayco, I can easily rebuild the bed if they want it, but there is so many things in the "classic" layout that I wish they would update to be more modern. The Ember is a good step forward so far. Though I will never without a slide out again.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd

      I don't know exactly where the line would be. One thing to remember is this does have a mattress that folds. So a traditional 1-pc mattress could be a problem. I'd likely still add at least a nice topper to it I could roll up when putting the bed away
      if you just wanted to leave the bed "down" all the time, then you could put nearly any queen on it you wanted

    We give the inside 👍, would be a two thumber except for that Murphy bed. We give the outside 👍👍. I read the comments about the pricing, you were talking about the ladder, it “Should be” standard. I know this one American made, but the Black Series made in Australia (I think I have it correct), so far has them beat. Yes it’s Pricier. I know that materials are hard to come buy, but Ember (which I know is a new start up) needs to step it UP before they miss a step on the ladder rung. Josh👍👍👍👍👍, thanks for the good, bad & ugly.
