Love the vids! Your original DVT video gave me the courage to take on the job with my Multi. You saved me a lot of clams. Love the info. Love the waffles. You do brilliant work.
I don't have this particular model of Ducati I have the Scrambler Sixty2 but watch your vlogs regardless of what you're working on, never too late to learn and as they say every day is a school day, always good to keep in the loop just in case I should ever have any issue/s and I know where you are. Thanks.
I had a 748 once, looked at changing the belts and sold the bike 😂 Only joking, I didn't change the belts but did sell it before doing them. Lucky gamble on my behalf. Just joined the mob Jim. Keep these vids coming Cheers.
had a 821 monster for some year and happily rode it around for about 60k km, loved the thing, wasnt perfect for sure but definitely added smiles in my kms.. never even thought to do the desmo service myself or change belts you make it look so easy. i would have stopped at the "what needs removing" lol - enjoyed the video thank you.
Very informative and interesting video Jim, your knowledge and expertise is limitless, you seem to know so much about every manufacturer and models, I'm assuming it's taken many years to get to your level of knowledge and expertise, very interesting video Jim as usual. 👍
Thanks for your kind words, mate. Virtually every day for the last 35 years! No wonder I feel worn out 😂 I've got a head full of motorbike stuff, but not much else! There is always something new to learn, though, that's what keeps it interesting. Sharing what I've learnt with other people and positive comments like yours does a lot to keep me motivated, so thank you 😁👍
Awesome! It seems Heath Robinsonish measuring the decibels, one wonders why it would not be possible to measure the torque induced apon the eccentric tensioner while setting. 👍👌👏
I'm also interested in the cam jams. In my previous belt service a few years back I was motivated to try to fashions a couple of jams using pieces of the old belt. I did a work around, but I might try this approach again in a couple months when it is belt service time once again. I also advocate not removing the airbox. The juice ain't worth the squeeze! OMG
Thank You Sir !! That's a Genuine learning clip of the finest 👌 I've got the dvt testastretta 11 and have adjusted v and replaced belts . Your vid had great knowledge pointers in it . Tnx again V Much . Definitely subscribed!!!
I own a 2022 Diavel 1260S with DVT. I'll need to do my belts within the next year. This is a great primer and shows it is a very straight forward job. Thank you. Any links for the wedges or tools? I want to support your efforts. Great video.
Have you ever removed the DVT pulleys from the camshafts so that the oil seals can be replaced when the camshafts are removed? What is the best way to loosen the bolt that holds it on?
I just want to make sure I didnt misunderstand as i printed some instructions from a tool rental website in the states. as well as watched your video from a few years ago. Crank locked at horizontal TDC both belts are changed.. i mean technically if the crank doesnt move and the cam gears are locked it could be changed where ever but for the sake of info for myself and others i just wanted to clarify
Yes, technically, it wouldn't make any difference where the engine was so long as the crank and cams are locked in position. The crank locking tool only has the ability to lock the crank at TDC, so that's what you do. Theoretically, you could lock the crank at TDC EX, but then the timing marks on the cams wouldn't line up, so why would you. Hope this helps.
Thanks! I'm familiar with this type of stuff my question was based off the way you worded the belt change section of this video. just wanted to clarify. I very much appreciate the reply, i have commented on a handful of YT vids in the past and have never got a reply haha. @@SuperbikeSurgeryTV
@SmokedBlack16v It's really difficult to keep up with the comments, I try and reply whenever I can. It's difficult and could easily turn into a full time job! @@SmokedBlack16v
I believe that, and I meant YT vids as any of them not your specifically just to put that out there. Thanks again for the help and awesome videos. saving guys/gals money with each one. @@SuperbikeSurgeryTV
I'd love a multi Strada personally and while this belt change is most likely within my skill set the desmo valve clearances is not and that puts me off. Maybe it's because I've never done it...
Dam ... Just put my coat on Supposed to meet my brother now ... . ... Then this dropped .😊.. Looks like im going to be late now .. . . Errrr yer yer I'll blame it on the traffic ..😅

Maybe after a few more of these dvt videos you will finally convince me to buy a multistrada :)
Thanks again Jim top content!

Top man as always!! Very good info :)
Top Tip - The center bolt from the TDC lockup tool can be removed and used as a crankshaft turning tool (with a wrench).
Awesome video, well done !! Appreciate your time to make the video

unless you have done more than 18k miles or 5 years (2027) why are you changing them
Another great video!
Excellent, thanks!
Interesting channel 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧

Superb. Thank you.
Would you replace the pulleys at 20,000 miles even if they appear sound?
Only 4000 miles and you have to change the belt already? Amazing
It'd spent a few years not being used. The customer just wanted the peace of mind.
It also goes by age of the belt

May I purchase a set of your Cam Jam pieces?
Sorry mate, they're not really for prime time just yet. The design needs another tweek, but I don't have a bikevto take measurements from.
Was going to ask the same!

The tensioner bearing went in there so logically they should come out somehow!
