@@TylerHarney Is this one the Y400 or Y1200? I've been watching and re-watching his 9 part series and I'm thinking I will probably go ahead and do it ... He just hasn't posted recently and it is concerning. I came across your video and your machines look awesome! Loving the exhaust off to the left under the laser as well!
@@rouncewell7038 Dang I didn't see your reply. Its the Y1200, Yeah I haven't heard anything from him. It's crazy to just stop posting after gaining so much interest.
@@TylerHarney Yeah I agree, some parts take much longer than others. IRONICALLY...the ONLY parts that "got lost IN SHIPPING" are the motors THAT I SOURCED HERE IN THE USA!
Hey John! So my 50/60w can cut up to 1/4" (Baltic birch plywood and MDF) My 80/100w (shown here) has the ability to cut up to 3/4" Baltic birch (real slow),you get quite scorched edges, but it IS possible. You will need a 2" (50.8mm) lens. I use the 2" lens for everything I do.
The airflow is on full blast, I forget what wattage my air assist is, 117 watts maybe? I'll check the next time I'm at my shop. The only time I turn it down, is cutting acrylic to give that polished edge.
@@TylerHarney At 60%! Will definitely check these guys out. When I replace mine. Bought a pro-model Full Spectrum. It gets the job done but I'm less than impressed.
I have an 80W Reci Tube but 40mm/sec at 60% powe is fast and the edges aren't as burnt... I envy your machine... 🙂... Great job Need to re look my settings... Maybe its the wood?... I've been trying to cut MDF and it takes two passes at 18 mm/s at 80% power... 😕... Is it.. the Mo mirrors?... Or lens?... Alignment is perfect...
hey mate, was wondering if you could help with basic settings with my laser cutter to get a cleaner cut always leaving a brunt mark around the edges
Crap, I just saw your comment :/
Still having that problem?
@@TylerHarney always
So satisfying. Which thikness and plywood type do you use ?
This was 1/8" thick Baltic Birch wood. Thank you!
I'm thinking of building this same machine from Rob (Further Fabrication). How was the building process ?
Awesome! The documentation was great and really easy to follow. I've built two of his machines.

@@TylerHarney No worries, we all get busy! I ordered the parts for the Y400 and am excited to build it! Hope we hear from Rob soon
@@TylerHarney i bought his 3d printed parts very recently and I also had a few questions, and he's responded very promptly
Very nice cut, are you using the aquarium pump for air assist, or do you have something more powerful?
Yeah its this air aquarium pump, amzn.to/3bhabMe
another nice demo. there aren't many good demos on TH-cam.
I know Trotec makes some and there is a shop in my city.
Do you make them for sale?
I'll keep posting. I kind of wanted to make them for sale but ordering parts from China take so long. I really did enjoy building it though.

I'm somewhat new to the concept of laser cutting, mind if I ask whether there is a maximum thickness that a laser cutter can handle??

Where can I buy this lens?
@@TylerHarney Will increasing the focal length from 1" to 2" improve the cutting ability for the laser?
Do you mind adding speed/power? Thanks!
Just updated the description :) Thanks for the comment Ramon.
I wonder how much pressure/flow air assist do You use? What is the sweet spot?

How much is that ?
Wow! One pass. And it's moving pretty fast.
Yep! 40mm/s at 60% power on an 80w RECI tube

wow.. your beam alignment and focus must be very perfect so it can cut at speed 40mm/s. I have 100w RECI and I dont think I can cut that fast.
Hi Tyler!, Do you the specs to build this baby?, Thanks!
Check out Further Fabrication on TH-cam. It's his design. Highly recommend.
