Anyone else notice Ryu is bad with counting the timer sometimes? When he was down to 140 seconds he said "We have a minute and 40 left".

There was no reason for the clear condition, since Bowser having a required key was enough that you had to kill him to beat the level. They definitely should have had checkpoints. The first one could be after the autoscroll, and the second one could be in the light area before the red coin challenge. Also, the hidden key in the autoscroll area was bogus.
Guy probably wanted others to suffer since he has to beat it without a checkpoint before he can upload it
If he put checkspoints, you have had link power ups so you could damage through some parts and the timer wouldn't have been tight.

This was on par with the horrible car level, Terrible Life Decisions, the spinies raining from the sky level, the 500 second speedrun, and the counting coins level where we first got introduced to what The Joker version of Ryukahr sounds and looks like when he died because of the disappearing cloud at the very end of the level
Car level was definitely worse, really the only thing that made this bad was no checkpoints. Actually a good level if there was at least one

2 checkpoints would have made that one level perfect. Even the dark parts weren't crazy bad.

I knew Ryu was gonna scramble for time the moment he started to take his time. With an 8 minute cleartime you can assume that it's gonna be relatively close.

I would have no energy whatsoever to continue playing any game after that. I actually would never have the energy and determination to finish that super long ass level in the first place.
Even when just watching the level, that bowser fire at 31:00 jump-scared me too. It would have been gut-wrenching to have been hit by that after all that effort.
The amount of pain and suffering this man puts himself through for our viewing pleasure is truly incredible.

I don't understand why most clear conditions are used when they can be replaced by keys and keys don't stop you from adding checkpoints.
Timing out at the end would have just been satisfying and relatable because I've been in similar situations and choose to replay the level again to clear it. Hope you're doing well enjoy your day.
What ever happened to the good old days of koopa cars on dashpads and red launchers firing horizontal springs? I find these to be treasured relics of a long forgotten past; the shiniest turds ever shat.

Difficulty metrics are something that Nintendo needed to add to user inputs in MM2. I have a bunch of levels that can't seem to find an audience because they're meant to be hard but fair, but because only people who want easy levels seem to play them. Troll levels like this need users to be able to label them as such. "Kaizo" ratings should be possible for them.

I think I prefer playing the random levels over the endless mode, just something about having endless attempts and just freely playing through levels of your choice is more fun than a mode where you’re guaranteed to lose

If I had to guess, I would imagine the level probably started off relatively normal, then the creator kept adding things, then they played their level and realized how long and tedious it was to complete. Now from here, they could have toned it down and maybe gotten rid of the auto-scrolling or shortened it down. Instead, they went with the nuclear option, making a tight-timer 500 second dark level with hidden thwomps, Boom Booms, and an inability to take damage. Essentially, it started off innocently, but the creator listened to the little devil on their shoulder at every turn.
The Ryue reverse blessing curse really comes trough in this one.

It makes sense that the timer is tight because the clear check time is about 8 and a half minutes and 500 seconds is about 8 mins 40 seconds

Accessing the secret nintendo dev menu and checking the box marked "im making a hot stinky garbo level" that removes the entity limit and doubles the max distance from start to goal
