Julia these are so beautiful! 😍 I love what you said about the shading etc because that’s exactly how I feel, now you’ve encouraged me to just go for it anyway. Thank you! 🙏😊❤️ xx
It's hard not to get intimidated. I really have been trying to let go of that inner critic and just do what gives me joy. Thanks so much for watching, I hope you "go for it" and just have fun!
I really enjoyed watching you make the cover and I think I would enjoy making these, since I have a lot of fabric scrapes, from making quilts...this looks like a lot of fun...thank you❤
Love the journal! It was so fun watching you create it! I’m not good at free motion, because I do not feel in control. But I know the more I sew with it the better I will become - hopefully 😊.
Thanks so much but I really just make stuff up as I go along. My brain doesn't work well with rules or detailed instructions! Thanks so much for watching, Julia
I love this method of making a journal cover. I make Prayer Journal covers for my church friends. I will definitely try this method. Love all your videos.
I’m so glad you didn’t give up doing art because you thought you couldn’t shade right! I think your creations are lovely. I love these whimsical girls. The sunglass case with the girl on it I bought from your store is still going strong all these years later! ❤ Thanks for sharing!
So cute!. I saw an earlier face video you did and I made a darling bookmark. I also used your directions from an earlier video for making a notebook cover and I used that to cover a basic black and white composition book. It was so much easier and nicer looking than previous covers I have used. By the way, I slow stitch and made the whole cover by hand. I'm so glad I discovered your channel. Thanks for the inspiration and tutorials.
Hi, I am so glad you are enjoying my videos and have tried the book cover. I am so intrigued with slow stitching and am trying to incorporate it more in my projects. I love the look!
This is Soooooooooooo Wonderful !!! I am sure you could do very well selling these covers w/o the signatures. As a book maker ... I am going to make these covers .... oppps .... you just said that is what you do !!!! Love all of your videos... Annie Lou
Hi, I was thinking about selling my covers without the inserts. Thanks for letting me know what you think. I hope you give this method a try. I really like the "Ultra Hold" paperback adhesive. The feel is great!
Hi Julia! I went to the same quilt, craft show too! Love this journal cover, the free motion stitching really makes it fabulous! Never would I believe that you are not good enough when it comes to shading and color. Thanks for sharing your unique talent.
Just a little note to say thank you I enjoy watching your videos so much You got me back sewing I just can’t stop now … I still have to practice free motion sewing but I will get there 😂 I wonder how to recycle all the loose threads I have in a jar … I think I saw you do something with threads a while back but unfortunately I can’t remember what video it was in … do you have any ideas how to do an artsy embellishment with threads !? If you ever feel like showing us how to do so, it would be so helpful Please keep up your amazing videos they are awesome 🥰
Hi, Thank you for your kind comment. I am so glad you are finding my videos inspiring. Here is a video where I used threads in a fabric collage. I covered the piece with a fine net or tulle. th-cam.com/video/hs7U1WVr5fA/w-d-xo.html
I love your videos so much! I tried doing the free style sewing, but it was so hard. Could you do a trouble shooting video for that technique? I bought the right foot, but it was still hard. Maybe I had a problem with tension because there were loops underneath the fabric.
Hi, I have it on my list to do a trouble shooting video. Thanks for the idea. I hope I can give you some pointers. Free motion stitching is FUN once you get it!
How fun!!! You make drawing look soooo easy! Beautiful job!!! I love that fabric, too! Thanks again, Julia! Brenda ❄️ P.S. Do you need any sequin tape? I bought a box FULL and I'm not sure how to use it, lol!!! 😂
Hi Brenda, You sound like me with boxes of " what am I going to do with this and what was I thinking"! This journal cover would have looked cool with sequins. I think I would attached using clear thread and a zigzag big enough to span the width of the tape. Hope that makes sense. Have a great day! Julia
Very cute! Just wondering how the sewing through the Heat n Bond ultra was? I’ve heard others say it’s difficult to sew through, that it makes the needle sticky.
Hi, I don't have problems but I know others do. I usually do simple stitching ( straight stitch or zigzag- no decorative) If the needle gets gummy, it can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol.
Hi. I am so glad you are enjoying my videos. When I rip my canvas, I first take my scissors and snip approximately an inch in where I want to rip. I then with my hands , I rip the canvas. It should rip straight if it's woven on grain. It it's too hard to rip, I'll make my snip a bit bigger. Ripping gives the canvas a beautiful fray. I hope this helps. I will try to remember to demonstrate it in a video. Thanks so much for watching, Julia
I love all your art.. especially the “goofyness”. I should keep my trap shut but I prefer your art & some others over great artists…I’m that 94 year old who loves to watch your videos. Margy😄
