I had my children behind the wheel in an empty parking lot at 12. The more comfortable behind the wheel they were, the more comfortable I was when they had their license. I let them feel what it was like to brake and press the gas, make turns, and park. Since McKenzie has a hearing impairment, you may want to let her handle the car as soon as possible, so she can hear car noises and traffic noises. Those little nuances make a difference.
My dad said I could do that in an empty car park but I was just way too anxious that someone would come in or smth so I’m really not sure how I’m going to do when it actually comes 😅
I started on a friend's mower. It'll definitely teach you quick. And a lot less dangerous than this lol i couldn't imagine trying to learn with a blinder like that. Love the content! Hope she has fun learning lol
I was 7😂 legally on the road 16😊 it's 9 & 3 now. There should be someplace you can go teach her how to drive even if she doesn't get to for several more years 😊
My dad had me sitting on his lap steering the truck from the mailboxes to the house at 6 years old 😂 was on the streets with a permit the second I turned 15!! Beyond thankful for starting so early, never been in an accident driving for 11 years now! (Knock on wood, minus 4 people rear ending me)
i drove around a cemetery at 5mph when i was 13 or so. it wasn't much but it was one of the last good memories with my mom. now im 17 and have been driving legally for a while now.
I was 10. My dad drove a fuel truck and taught me how to drive in an emergency but also every car and motorcycle in the family. I am so glad he did. Driving was freedom back then and when we get older we know it all too well. It’s never too early to learn!!
I learned how to shift long before I could reach the pedals 😂 I sat next to my grandpa and would listen and shift the gears. TBF I still have a heard time reaching the pedals.
My oldest niece and I (same age) were driving my dad's truck up and down my neighbors field when we were 10. My dad was in the truck with is. By the time we were 12 we were driving up and down the road, again with my dad with us. But I live in the country out in the middle of nowhere on a dead end road with a big turn around at the end. There hardly any traffic. When I was 14 my dad let me drive home from my sisters house a couple times. But that's only because she lived on the outskirts of a very very some town a few milea away from us and it was all country roads once out of town. Again, my dad was always in the truck with me. Except when he needed me to run up and get something from our neighbors. But I was probably 13 or 14 then and usually drove up the field. 😂😂
My mom would take us onto dirt rds and put us into her lap at 7. By the time i was 12 i was a pro. My bro on the other hand l8ved those ditches. Even now as a 40yr old he still loves those ditches😂😂
I started to learn to drive at 11, My Grandfather took me to the Cemetery to practice, a good reminder he said, cause if you fuck around you end up here, the. Moved to back roads. Then when I turned 12 I used to sneak the Buick out at night and go drive on my own😂 but learning to drive early is super important!
My husband started taking our kids and grandkids out to drive at age 13. Of course it was in the country no cars around. And they drove like 5 miles an hour lol. But he kept it up. Oldest has her license 2 are 16 got permits and other just turned 15.
I taught my granddaughter how to drive. At first she had to sit on my lap but that wasn’t long I put her in the drivers seat and put the car in low. She couldn’t go too fast. She was about 6-7 . While she was sitting on my lap that’s when I taught her how to hold it in the road. Only thing that she does today at 23 that I told her not to do is that she will text while driving and usually won’t wear her seatbelt. I told her you don’t text and drive and to always wear your seatbelt. I guess those things fell on deaf ears as the saying goes.
Yes it is old enough. You should have already taught her how to drive. You don’t wait till their are15 or 16. They will be behind. My granddaughter when she was in high school and taking drivers Ed. The teacher said to get you have been driving for awhile and idea great driver . She told him my man maw taught me.
