No words. They are both out of this world. I saw Bireli several time in concert. I do not understand how this guy is playing guitar like that. He is not playing, he is just painting music. Joscho is just walking on the water, incredible style. They made my day.
Their playing is extraordinary. They both feed off each other's playing. You tubers....how lucky we are to be able to see performances like this in our homes amid a pandemic. It enriches our souls and heals our body!
I first heard Bireli back in the late eighties when he played with Stochelo Rosenberg and Fappy Lafertine. He was great then and still is. Joscho amazes me with his precision, speed, clarity and musicianship. Together and individually they have entertained me before and during Covid.
My favorite jazz tune by my all time favorite best musicians! It's pretty enjoyable to see how Bireli has stepped into "Less is More" stage and Joscho challenging the technical limits. Just amazing!
yes, it seems he think more to enjoy the magic of music and sound rather then techincal virtuosism. but he is also older and maybe he had enough of steril virtuosism. anyway i love Joscho as well. he is a super genius too, i'm sure he will get more calm and more able to put virtuosism ego away in the years. love them both
@@marcobattistini6540 I know it seems that way, but the smartest way to play in a duo is to find different roles. I think they complement each other perfectly, because they’re playing different styles, and are doing it on purpose. I’ve seen a lot of players who value virtuosity over beauty - the late Joey DeFrancesco comes to mind, sadly - and I find great lyricism and beauty in both players.
love Bireli's nylon string guitar - paired with Joscho's Volkert, it's a really great sound...the level of playing and artistry here is unparalleled....incredible...
I could listen to this for hours. Not only are they each amazing musicians in their own right, but they complement each other so well. Joschko loves technical experimentation and funky rythms while Bireli is a seasoned and melodic player whose rythm guitar is out of this world.
Truly a one of a kind performance. I have heard this melody many times but never ever as explored by these two incredible musicians. Joscho and Bireli outdid themselves on this which is nothing short of sublime and pure guitar chemistry. Swapping solos and showing us viewers so many different sides to it. Thanks again for this track.
Was just listening to Ella sing this song on my phone. What an odd coincidence I log onto the computer and this is recommended. Big Brother is listening.
I don't know what it is about this song.. It just takes me to another time and place of blue skies..and possibilities. Thank you so much. You made my morning. I hope you guys can perform here in San Diego, California one day.
No one is better than Bireli... Joscho plays a lot like Bireli did 20 years ago. Bireli may be showing his age a bit, but he is also laying back a bit here in order to make great, noncompetitive music.
I thought hearing the entry portion of this version which was so spectacular; there would be something outstanding that would follow. They took things in a variety of directions which was fine but knowing the caliber of these players I found the phrasing in later parts sounded more like talking continuously without ever taking a momentary pause to breathe. Phrasing and silence can say as much as the playing.
Listening to this while working... awesome! I heard Joscho Stephan years ago in a concert and was somehow unimpressed, as he was great in technique but lacking the "soul" at that time (in my opinion) but now ... he's just as fantastic as Bireli! Congrats!

you nailed it, i couldn't agree more...
Most of the Rosenbergs are just as if not more impressive. The gypsy jazz scene is full of studs ❤

what plan-demic?
Birelli's 'head' (melody) entrance is one of the incredibly beautiful I ever heard' so deep jazz understanding he has
My God, I've played for 60 years and have never witnessed anything quite like this. You are from another world.
My favorite jazz tune by my all time favorite best musicians!

Just amazing!
Two master guitar players going at it. Sublime the level of skills and knowledge of an instrument. A gift to anyones ears.
Bireli is at a whole other level and his use of space is the mark of pure artistry.

@@marcobattistini6540 yes Joscho is too technical, this leaves me cold
@@DanNicholsWatercolour Cold ... you funny tho

Joscho is fascinating, he combines like a thousand styles, and most importantly, he knows what jazz is.
Freedom.
Otherworldly. I cannot put into words the joy, inspiration, and admiration of this. Both of you make the world a better place. Thank you!😎
Wow, I'm awestruck. They took that song in so many directions, corridors of the imagination, it completely blew my mind.
WOW! I'm pretty sure that was the greatest duet ever! Wish I was there.
Wow....as a brazilian i must to say that i'm very touched and honored by these masters playng ower song!
Thanks a lot
👏👏👏
Cheers from Brazil
Bireli playing the traditional standard WAVE and Joscho bringing the improv... so amazing and cool!

Just put my guitar away for life, it asked what have you been doing to me all these years....this is where the magic begins
Phenomenal.
I absolutly love when bireli amd joscho play together
Comment est ce possible? Pur génie pour Birelli et Joscho !
Josho plays the way every guitar player would like to play and Bireli makes you dream of music, blessed to be able to listen to them

A Jobim master piece song played by incredible masters, for many years Birelli has impressed us, and with Joscho wow what a duo
I’ve never seen a better jazz guitar duet
Grande relax Bireli
Bravo Bireli, you are my hero!
Brillant! This is what happens when you have musicians that compliment each other and don't try to outdo each other.

Sincerely i am honoured to watch and listen to them.
Speechless...
Fantastic playing by fantastic players of this fantastic Jobim tune.
Grandiose !! Nothing else to say ....Those guys are on another level...High....very high level..Thanks a lot for posting.
Superb melody played in all its possible nuances by these two masters of the guitar!! 🎸🎸🎵🎶🎶👏👏
Yeahhhhhh! Thank you, Joscho!

abração do brasil. isso esta sensacional
Tom Jobim é bom demais, ainda por esses caras tocando ficou incrível, sou aprendiz de Bossa Nova e ficou muito lindo, parabéns

I hear you. It has that airy feel to it like you were on somebody's Beach patio drinking a wine cooler!
Two masters, ty!!!!!!!!! Awesome!
Bireli is a good guitarist but Joscho is incredibly great. He never skipps a beat always on point.

Wow! I guess you don't know Bireli''s playing very well. My guess is that Joscho wouldn't agree with your comment at all.
@@alberthaust4542 Please make sense...
Birelli is on a completely other level. Josho's phrasing doesn't fit this song too well in fact.
@@johnnylance I pretty much agreed with you.
Incredible. One of the coolest things I've ever heard
This is a beautiful rendition of a sublime song by Jobim. It should be played to anyone and everyone who wants to be a musician or music lover.
For sure, this brazilian music is one of the few things to be proud of my country! Great jam session!
Very natural music for me !
ThankyouVeryMuch!
Such beautiful performances I think. I am really enjoying these concert videos, thanks!
Sogar zwei Meister im Gypsi-Style.... !
Natürlich Oberklasse! Danke.
Que du bonheur ! Merci à vous deux
sigh...something to aspire to. Brilliant playing, lovely music.
This is outstanding piece of guitar performance! I believe such class is suitable for conservatory graduation exam...😸

Classy guitar work guys - tasteful - just beautiful.
Fantastic.
Joscho so Amazing!!!
Su much fun and what a virtuoso show.....this is amazing!!!!!
Excellent!!!
Joscho is ultra rhythmic in his solos, his solos are too clean to be played by a human
Deux styles assez différents mais au final complémentaires. Deux maîtres. Merci Bireli et Joscho pour cette prestation.
Happy Birthday (yesterday) Bireli! 🎈🎈
Just too good-So mellow, tasteful and romantic..
Wave! 💗💗💗 Ficou muito lindo vocês tocando.
Josco amaging melodies👍
A real classic!
Magnifique
Maravilloso
Did you notice how neatly they transfer from fingerstyle to his pick and back again (e.g., Joscho from 0:43 asnd Bireli at 1:00)
Thank you, gentleman.😎
No words necessary! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🎼🎵🎶🎸🎸🎶🎵🎼🎼
Amazing!!!
so beautiful!!
Damn I need that Gypsy guitar course!!
josho has the best right hand of them all....
Immensi!
Incredible!!!!!
beyond words
Just great!!!
Goddamn, I love Bireli's playing so much.
Bravíssimo!
Real nice playing guys
Mr Stephan can do what ever he want with his guitar...
Love the 2 contrasting approaches. Very tasty
