I love how almost everyone who reacts to this show is like "oh no, Sassy is going to stir up some shit between Rebecca and Keeley" but the opposite is true, she just comes in and is awesome and everyone loves her. This is definitely one of the turning points of the series where they start to deal with some more emotional and complex issues and they do it SO well. Great reaction!

The writing team does include women (including the actor that plays Jane Payne), but the sheer creative imagination and determination it takes to write these storylines, characters, and dialogue really can't be understated (especially since the three creators of the show, plus Bill Lawrence, are all men).

I never noticed it until watching it this time, but the writing team try to make everyone comfortable with Sassy because Keeley’s first words to her are I love you. Letting us know she’s ok.

Hannah Waddingham is actually a fantastic singer and does her own singing. Did you notice Roy mouthing the words to "Let it go" because he has a 6 yr old niece and has probably seen it a few dozen times! Rebecca did notice Ted having a break down (at least someone did!). And you are correct that Nate actually really knows a lot about football and especially his team. Its very subtle but he comes in clutch a lot while still underplaying his smarts.

I did pick up on Roy knowing the words because of his neice while editing. That's a very sweet moment to include

Yep. Waddingham is a pretty major musical theater star. She's got an incredible voice.

A bit late to the party on this one but yes, as mentioned in the comments, Hannah Waddingham is actually doing the singing - she's a classically trained opera singer and has performed in both London's West End and on Broadway. The one song she never wanted to sing was "Let it go" - but if you follow the lyrics - it is exactly what Ted is going through.

A girl can only wish to have friends like Keeley and Sassy, fr..... imagine Rebecca being surrounded by bitter, rich Karens instead of those two badass cupcakes to help her move on 🤗

Sassy is a confusing character but like Keeley she’s supporting Rebecca

I don’t know how old you are, but as a guy in my 40s, I was also thinking about Roy possibly throwing out his back while trying to rip out the bench.

We don't see Ted put anything in for the curse fire, but he's not the only one, there are a lot of people in that scene that aren't shown. A popular theory that I ascribe to is that Ted put his wedding ring in. He was seen toying with it at the beginning of the episode, and if memory serves it's never shown again in the entire series. It would defeat the purpose I think for Ted to exempt himself from putting something in. It wasn't a curse, fake or otherwise, that led to the loss of Jamie, it was just Rebecca being a shithead lol
If you ever do a rewatch, which I HIGHLY recommend as this series sets up and pays off things really well, this is definitely one of the episodes that hits hard.

I watch the episode when I react but then I watch it again with my partner, and your right, there's a lot of very clever foreshadowing in this show.
      Can't wait to watch more

@@AdamfromFWCI Oh, I meant rewatch as in once you've gotten to the end of the series. While the episodes are great on immediate rewatch, too, there's some stuff in this episode, for example, that comes back into play in the latter half of season 2. I'm sure there'll be even more of that in season 3, whenever that comes out, which I'm looking forward to.

IIRC each of the actors was invited to create a personal item for their characters to throw into the Curse Fire!

Hannah is such a wonderful singer! In my head Rebecca recognises the tells of a panic attack because she either has/had them that how she was able to see that Ted was having one and how to help Ted out.
