I loved watching Sam's reaction to Akufu's meltdown. The entire time Sam was looking at him with a sort-of mild amusement, like, "Yep. Made the right choice."

The sign from the universe wasn't just that that kid was wearing Sam's kit. It was that they were wearing the teams old ones and they had put tape over the Dubai Air logo. He was making a difference where he was.

I don’t think Nate was trying to sabotage the team intentionally. He just wanted all of the credit when things went right and none of the blame when things went wrong. That’s also the first time I’ve ever seen someone slam a door OPEN 😂

So the greying of Nate's hair is them deliberately making him look more like the famous football manager José Mourinho who dubbed himself "The Special One" there are several more references to him as well with obviously "The Wonder Kid" and Nate's initial big turn after Ted has the panic attack and tells his players to park the bench.
I even remember this puppet skit thing when I was a kid called "Special One TV" which parried him and Football talk shows

Yes, Jason Sudekis has said that season 2 is the "Empire Strikes Back" for the series - you get that from his speech about 'The Dark Forest' during the rom-com episode (Rainbow), too.

Jason Sudeikis said he planned 3 seasons. And it seems he's sticking to it. And all the actors are doing other things. Beginning. Middle. End is perfect.

On Nate's hair: From what the actor has said, it's primarily meant to be illustrative. The actor originally had a little bit of gray that the show dyed, then as Nate progressed further downward, they stopped dyeing it then by the end Nate's hair is actually a wig.
On Keeley and Roy: While Keeley is her own boss, she JUST started a company, and it's her first real foray into the business world, plus the first real job she got on her own merits given she was given the Richmond PR job by Rebecca. For Roy to then spring a six-week vacation on her, with a single day's notice no less, was very inconsiderate or, at best, short-sighted. And for him to jump straight to "Are we breaking up?" just because she said she can't go for a very valid reason really shows off his insecurities.
On Jamie: I definitely would've liked some follow-up as well (and it'd be nice to get a little on the rest of the team as well). I'm biased since Jamie is my favorite character on the show, but it feels like this season dropped the ball at several points for him. I'm wary and interested to see what happens with the love triangle thing next season. If Jamie's confession was only a manifestation of his growth and was evidently resolved in a single scene (on Roy's side anyway; we don't get Keeley's thoughts on the matter) I feel like there were better ways to show that that didn't cause drama. If it's more than that ... I wouldn't complain, I think the new and improved versions of Jamie and Keeley are well-suited to one another, but the writing would have to be top-notch to sell it I think.
Lastly, on the amount of seasons: They originally set out to only do three, then the show completely blew up. They've said they're writing it to be three seasons, but given there's been no announcement that season 3 is the last, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a season 4 or a movie or something.
I had a lot of fun watching these reactions! Looking forward to your other content and season 3 reactions, whenever that comes out.

You know as twisted as it is, I do understand Nate. He has a very bad self image. His father had reinforced this idea that he’s not worthy. So the moment Ted gave him attention and positive reinforcement he hung on to that. But as what happened in the second season- Ted was not stable enough to pay attention to anything as complicated as Nate’s psychology. And that felt like a betrayal for Nate. Ted really did not pay attention to Nate. Everytime Nate was an asshole, Ted didn’t address it. I think Nate was doing it on purpose in front of Ted too, just to see how he will react. And Ted just brushed them off. That felt worse for Nate, like he’s become invisible to Ted. So there… hate it happened but there’s going to be catharsis by the end of this I just know it.

Three are relegated from Premier League and Two are promoted automatically from the Championship - there are playoffs from 3rd to 6th in league with a final at Wembley for the third promotion spot .
I guess they didn't want to muddy the story telling waters with a second chance and another trip to wembley 🤷🏻‍♂️

I love the moment during the celebration at the end of the match when Roy headbutts Jamie before hugging him. Way to keep up the _Major League_ references! 😁
(If you're not familiar, _Major League_ is a classic baseball film, and a favorite among players. The plot revolves around the new owner of a baseball club, formerly the wife of the previous owner, who's bent on tanking the club; the players find out about her scheme, and resolve to "win the whole fuckin' thing" - which should sound awfully familiar to _Ted Lasso_ fans.)

If I was writing Season 3, I’d start out showing Ted flying back to Kansas during the break to talk his ex-wife into a shared parenting arrangement. He flies back to England with his son. It would be fun to see if his son and Phoebe are in the same primary school!

I'd be careful about going too hard on Nate. He wouldn't be the first character on the show that they made you hate only to show you more about them so you understand. The entire ethos of the show is about being nice and giving people more than they deserve and how that can change people. And even if Nate never comes around, being kind to people is still the right thing to do.

    • @AdamfromFWCI
      @AdamfromFWCI  ปีที่แล้ว +7

I'm just here for the story, I hope they pull a big plot twist and i'm left shocked. But I am loving hating Nate right now.
In my opinion, what he did to Ted was cowardly, it was malicious, it was unnecessary, unprofessional, shocking, and completely ungrateful.
I dont think I'm being unfair, this is the character that has been created. He's a villain that betrayed the "hero".
But BTW, leaking Ted's mental health to the press is such a despicable thing to do. I dont know how anyone can defend Nate.
But I have a video allll about him coming soon, and I look forward to getting into the weeds.
But there will be characters I don't like, and I hope people commenting understand that I have the added pressure of being authentic and spontaneous on here, I don't have the benefit of watching something and then marinating on it for days or weeks before saying anything. I have immediate emotional responses, and unlike most people these days I'm genuinely not trying to predict the story (and then get disappointed when it doesnt go where I expected).
Right now, Nate is a scumbag and there is no other way to put it (we can assume there is some redeeming back story, same as we can assume there is an even darker history for that character)
Love your reply, please don't take this in an angry tone or anything. I really enjoy this interaction and any excuse to talk about Nate the Great is always welcome :)

@@AdamfromFWCII agree. I just watched the finale (finally getting around to watching season 3) and I freaking hate Nate. I can sympathize with his struggles, but in no way, shape, or form does outing Ted about his mental health issues nor insult Ted in such a personal way redeem him in my mind. He could’ve chosen a more peaceful, less mean-spirited option earlier on when he started feeling under appreciated, but nope. He instead became cruel and dropped a terrible bomb on Ted Lasso and the Richmond team. Actions speak louder than words, and all I can hope for is that Nate somehow becomes a better person. But at this point…I fucking hate him

The picture from Nate is at Ted's apartment, instead of asking he stewed over it and tried to imagine himself to be more important in Ted's life than Ted's own family. Dude is just a wrong'un.
His tactical knowledge is excellent though, he "parked the bus" earlier in the season for a big win. Nobody has ever doubted his football knowledge, but he's like the old manager that got sacked in the first episode who he will have seen coach for years before ted. No people skills. Zero.

I know a lot of people like the Akufu tantrum scene, but I think it was a bit of a missed opportunity for an interesting Sam storyline next season. It would've been cool if Akufu was respectful about it, then we could see Sam struggling over the choice he made, especially when he experiences the inevitable downs of life. While the way it was done was funny, I don't really like how they removed any semblance of doubt that Sam was right to choose to stay.

Everything Nate said was out of order and really realy wrong.... thsoe who have been defending him because of "he hates himself" and "his dad is a meanie" missed the point and neglected to consider how everyone else in the show handled their pain, esp. Ted.... hopefully Nate sees how idiotic this was when he's seeing the team on the other side.

I gotta say tho... back when I 1st saw the replies...... err.. well, I guess the objections/arguments got a bit confusing for me to a point I started to wonder if we watched the same show or I'd simply lost my gd mind LOL!
(just glad to see at least one other perspective sort of in the same path as mine, is all...)
For the most part, 'context' was getting mixed up w/ "justification" in discussing Nate's turn to "the darkside." here... and there's suddenly this big focus on the primal nature of WHY he's becoming such an unpleasant, unlikeable person... but all of that's cool. Everyone's opinion = ✅
What I didnt expect was > my refusal to grant Nate a wide room for justification (a.k.a. "sad, painful backstory) somehow invalidates my opinion of his recent behavior for those replying to my comment, even in the prev. vid :p... with some addressing my comment as being ignorant, dismissive, harsh or all 3.... uhm...
