One of the greatest things about these films. Came out in 2006 probably filmed and edited in 2005 and the CGI is still better than most films out today.
@@sh4pp31 plenty of money & technological development today. The thing is CGI artists are understaffed, underpayed and have very tight schedules. Hence, the end product is dumpster fire.
So the background for Jack Sparrow, Cutler Beckett, and Davey Jones; Jack was an honest sailor, a merchant, who captained a ship called the “Wicked Wench” under the employ of the Dutch East India Company and Cutler Beckett. Beckett hired him to transport 100 slaves, which Jack disagreed with but he took the load and then once away from the company’s oversight he freed the slaves (It is thought that the villagers who stand in the river with candles at the end when the crew visits Tia Dalma are the slaves he freed). Subsequently Beckett captured Jack and had the Wicked Wench burned as he watched in retaliation. Jack escaped and attempted to save his ship, but he was unsuccessful and subsequently went down with it as it sank. Davey Jones came across Jack because he died at sea. Because he died as a result of an act of selflessness Davey Jones offered him a deal; He would raise the Wicked Wench from the depths along with Jack, and allow Jack to remain as captain for 13 years. After the 13 years however, Jack would give his soul to Jones. Jack agreed, so the Wicked Wench was raised along with Jack. Because it was burned the Wench had turned black and charred, hence why Jack rechristened it the Black Pearl. Jack was disenfranchised with being an honest sailor after his experience, which is why he turned to piracy in his second life. There are a number of scenes across the second and third movies which describe all this (dialogue between Jack and Beckett, and Jack and Davey, but they were deleted from the final cut. They are included in the deleted scenes of the DVD/Blue Ray discs though. It’s a storyline which I really wish hadn’t been cut from the final cut because it adds so much depth to Jack’s motives.
There is an after credits scene in all the films. The scene in 1 shows Jack the monkey stealing one of the cursed coins, which is why he is immortal again. "Bootstrap" Bill Turner is played by Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård, while Davy Jones is played by Bill Nighy who had a small role as Rufus Scrimgeour, the minister of magic in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. All of the crew are CGI with the exception of "Bootstrap" Bill. Stellan Skarsgård's makeup took four hours to apply. The texture of Davy Jones's skin was made by scanning a dirty coffee cup and applying it to the screen using Photoshop-type software. To portray the character, Bill Nighy wore a motion capture tracksuit and tracking dots on his face so they did not have to reshoot the scene in the studio without him. His tentacles are mostly a simulation, though at times they were hand-animated when they act as limbs for the character. Also, he only wore a prosthetic once, with blue-colored tentacles when Will steals the key while he's sleeping. The scene where the Kraken spits at Jack is not computer-generated, it was real slime thrown at Johnny Depp. Filming in Grand Bahama Island to shoot ship exteriors was difficult because of weather and then came Hurricane Wilma where the cast and crew had to be evacuated, though no one was hurt nor were any of the ships destroyed. Fun facts: Jack's "I got a jar of dirt" and "fish face" were improvised by Johnny Depp and most of the reactions are real too. Similarly, Will's "I can do this all day" was improvised by Orlando Bloom. Keira Knightley is the one who suggested the scene between Jack and Elizabeth where she kisses him and then handcuffs him to the ship. That was actually left out of Orlando Bloom's script to get a better reaction from him. When the crew are in Tia Dalma's hut there are hints to Captain Barbossa being there: The black hat Jack is holding has a large black feather in it, just like Barbossa's hat. And after Tia lets the monkey out of the cage, he runs off and starts playing with a pair of boots that are attached to a leg, which belongs to Barbossa. Also, to get a genuine and an authentic reaction, the actors were not told prior to filming that Geoffrey Rush would be appearing in the film. They were told that the person coming down the stairs would be Anamaria (played by Zoe Saldana) from the first film. Lastly, Johnny Depp's dentist is credited at the end of the film.
46:14 - that fall was real, Johnny Depp just didn't look where he's going :) And "I've got jar of dirt!" scene was improvised by Johnny, if you look at Orlando Bloom - you'll notice his confused glance at the film crew.
Davy jones required 100 souls because according to tales, Jack was supposed to transport over a 100 slaves on the Pearl, but he changed his mind and freed the slaves. Davy Jones knows what Jack did and therefore, wants Jack to pay a 100 souls for his freedom (for raising the Pearl from the depths for jack).
Yeah there's a deleted scene from the third movie that talks about this (I really don't know why they deleted that scene it's so important for his character)
And in an added story it shows that Beckett sunk Jacks ship because Jack crossed him and freed the slaves. The ship was raised from the ocean by Dave’s Jones and then became the Black Pearl
Jack knows the Kraken is after him, so he wants to stay on land and be safe. Elizabeth is ignorant about the Kraken and therefore wants to find the chest and only the chest. I love the fact that the Kraken attacks much more ferociously the 2nd time round and destroys the gun deck that blasted its tentacles. Very cool and characterful. Bootstrap left his family to go pirating, they looted the chest of Aztec gold. He sent the medallion to his son in England. Will's mother died, so he went looking for his father. Barbossa attacked the ship he was on trying to find the medallion, which is how Will ended up in the water.
As someone who has seen this franchise time and time again, I don't think Elizabeth loves Jack at any moment (at least not in the same capacity as she loved Will). When the compass pointed to jack, in Elizabeth's hands, was when Norrington asked, "have you never asked yourself how Will ended up prisioner of Davy Jones, in the first place?", I figured in that moment Elizabeth wanted to know who the culprit of that situation was and that's when the compass pointed to Jack.
@@oq1106 wasn't so much of a romantic arc as it was just a way to push the plot forward. in the end elizabeth's deception is what killed jack after all
@@Dr.HooWho it was /definitely/ intended. (Since they've obviously seen the third one by now there is also no spoiler if I point out that) Will and Elizabeth literally have a conversation about how he thought she was in love with Jack.
In regards to jacks run,/walking style.. I heard that it is because he has spent so much time at sea that he has acclimated to it. So he moves like he is still in a rocking ship
Yeah, Johnny played Jack as having sea legs on land as he would have spent so much time at sea also Jack's movements on a ship is a lot more stable or 'normal' his wacky movements gets more pronounced on land
53:51 - I read somewhere once before that the cast had no idea who was coming down those steps and their reactions were real (not fully shown in this video however).
Here is the explanation for compass pointing to Jack, which I believe is really correct - ""The compass pointed to Jack because Jack told her that he was the one who could get Will back. Elizabeth did want Will most of all, but she really just wanted a way to save him, which she believed Jack could do."" She was not in love with Jack, Jack was only the best possible way to get to Will.
Norrington had also just said "Have you ever wondered how your latest fiance ended up captured by davy jones?" Elizabeth wants to know who was responsible. It pointed at Jack. Honestly it could be any of these theories, or even all of them. they all fit
Liar's Dice is a fun game to play with friends. My friends and I play this on occasions before, or after D&D. Here's how it works: Each player starts with 5 six sided die, then rolls them and keeps them hidden under cups. Each player may bid for a certain number of die for a certain face value. For example: Davy Jones bid 4 fours. Meaning he bid that there were at least 4 dice with the face value of 4 facing up. When the next player is ready to bid, they can go up on either face value, or number of die. You cannot go down on the amount of die called. You also cannot go down on the face value unless you call a higher die value. Then a player can call "Liar" if they think someone's bid was incorrect. In our games, a player that is caught "lying," or is wrong in calling another a liar, they lose a die. We go until there is one player remaining. At least that's how my friends and I play it. There are some game variants, but this way is closest to the movie version, I believe.
This is a very special movie for me. I saw it in theatres with my Mom. At the scene where Jack Sparrow faced the Kraken in the end and dove into its mouth, I turned to look at my Mom next to me. She was staring shocked with her mouth in a giant O. I fell in love with watching people react from then on. Its what ultimately lead me to love reaction channels like yours.
“I got a jar of dirt, I got a jar of diiiiirrrttt” most epic line in this movie 🤣🤣🤣 I really couldn’t care less for romances in movies, but Will and Elizabeth completely won me over. My favorite movie couple!!!😍😍😍
This movie is just magic to me. The CGI is insane for 2006 and it's crazy how hugely imaginative, expansive, yet tightly written a movie based on a theme park ride is. I'll always remember how intense the scene with Jack and the Kraken at the end felt when I saw it for the first time.
Bill Nighy is Brilliant as Davy Jones. I love him so much. His behind the scenes work is so interesting. I love the music in this one. The next movie is so epic
Davy Jones is one of my all time favorite movie villains. Not just his mannerisms and presence, but how good the CGI looks. It's mind blowing what they were able to accomplish when this movie came out.
1:04:10 A little bit of clarification and time-lining for you (no spoilers of course).... When we find young Will on the wreckage of a ship, the flashback ends with young Elizabeth seeing the Black Pearl through the fog - she later says she recognised the ship. It implies that the wrecked burning ship in the flashback was destroyed by the Black Pearl. Elizabeth later says that the flashback scene was 8 years before the first movie timeline, and in this movie we learn that 13 years ago Jack was made captain of the Pearl again by Jones, and that it lasted 2 years before mutiny. So when young Will was found the Pearl had been under the command of Barbosa for about 3 years by that point. What I've always wondered is where Will came from. I've always assumed he was aboard the Pearl and fell overboard during the fighting. The fact he had the pirate medallion on which he was given by his dad says to me he was aboard the pirate ship, his dad's old ship, the ship which was the only ship to plunder the cursed Aztec gold. That makes most sense to me, but the issue I have is young Will was definitely old enough to realise that he was on a pirate ship if he actually was but he was under the impression his dad was just a merchant. Also I don't know why Bootstrap would collect his son on the ship after the curse has happened which he said he wanted to keep Will out of, and why Jones would keep Will aboard for years after dropping his dad to the bottom of the ocean. So because of that, I think that Will must have been aboard the destroyed ship in that scene. But I think it's such a massive coincidence that the Pearl attacks that ship which happens to have this one random kid on it which the pirates so desperately need. Giving this some thought right now, I'm realising that all this can only make sense to me if the Pearl targeted that ship knowing that there was one of the medallions on it (it calls to them), but failed to find it because Will went overboard. Why was Will on a ship which was crossing the Atlantic anyway? (We know Elizabeth was on a ship making the crossing from England to the Caribbean). Perhaps will was working on a merchant ship following in what he thought were his father's footsteps? Not sure.
It was said in the first movie. After his mother died he left London to look for his father. He needed to cross Atlantic so I guess he got a job on that ship. Pearl was looking for medallion that's why they attacked it
This is my favorite of the series. Davy Jones and Bootstrap Bill are great additions (and great actors). Everything is bigger and crazier, which doesn't always works but does in this case.
In the scene in the first movie when Jack is on the ship with the two red coats and we see Elizabeth fall into the water in the background, we hear Jack say "And then they made me their cheif" which they decided to pay off in this movie 😂
Jack was basically to scared to risk finding the chest his deepest instinct was to run away and stay on land so the compass wouldn’t lead him somewhere he could potentially be killed
When the compass points at Jack, what Elizabeth wants most in the world is to know who is responsible for Will ending up on the Flying Dutchman. That's why it points to Jack. Will is in danger because of Jack. The reason that's what she wants to know is because that's what Norrington puts into her head before she uses the compass
Davy Jones' locker (which is not the same thing as the dead man's chest) is an actual metaphor which was used by sailors historically - it represents the final resting place of souls lost at sea. The movie cleverly adapted this metaphor into an actual character and concept. When Will mentioned Davy Jones' locker in the first movie, I'm not sure they'd decided he would be a character at that point, he was just using a historic nautical metaphor, but it fits in perfectly with the second movie. Similarly, the Flying Dutchman is a ghost story from history about a ghost ship which couldn't make port and would sail the seas forever. (Apparently this tale wasn't linked to Davy Jones historically though).
Actually jack is the main character but not always the protagonist. I remember an interesting TH-cam video though I can't remember who by atm, that argued each film had a different protagonist. In the first film Will is the protagonist (this is the most obvious). In the second it's Jack. And in the third it's Elizabeth. (I might have mixed 2 and 3 up can't 100% remember) Though some people argue all three share the role.
1:05:06 For what happened to Will's ship when he was a kid: In Elizabeth's flashback when she was a child, on seeing the wreckage the crew commented that it was the work of pirates. At the end of the flashback Elizabeth catches a glimpse of the Black Pearl receding into the mist-- this is why later in the first film she says she recognizes it from her childhood. Heavily implying that Will's ship was attacked and destroyed by the Black Pearl. Timeline-wise this wouldve occurred post-Jack's-mutiny, being captained by Barbossa. I dont think its confirmed whether the Pearl attacked it for general pirating reasons or if it was targeted. My own headcanon is that (before realizing it was cursed) Bootstrap Bill sent his son the Aztec gold necklace to remember him by/to fund his future, and that after his drowning execution, the crew of the Black Pearl was hunting all the pieces down including the one Will had and that's why it attacked Will's ship. As they said, the gold "calls" to them (which I think it only does when the gold is at sea, explaining why they didnt come for Elizabeth all those years until she fell into the water with the necklace on at the commodore's ceremony.) And on not finding the gold or perhaps scared off by the arriving naval ship, the black pearl fled and the rest is history.
A bit of fun lore for this trilogy: Jack became a Pirate and enemy to Beckett due to him being instructed to transport slaves “cargo” and Jack instead freed the slaves and became a pirate. That is why he says the Black Pearl represents freedom
At the start of the first film, you will notice Elizabeth sees the Balck Pearl sailing away as she sees Will stranded in the water... so the Black Pearl caused whatever left Will abandoned.
You guys are my favorite! Always the most sincere and profound reactions. I've been following you since your Got videos, I have a stressful and difficult job and following you weekly has made my life easier, thank you very much!! Also love the pirates series since childhood❤️🎉
This movie is a decent second installment, usually sequels don't hold up but this one did. I enjoyed your reaction, I was laughing all the way through✨
Cool fact, people and even myself actually love more the Sequel POTC 2 ober POTC 3, cuz there’s so much funny sequence. The whole movie was bloody hilarious
I personally never thought Elizabeth had any romantic feelings for Jack at this point. Probably more feelings of liking him and having fondness for him because of him helping her and Will so much in the past, but never romantic. Would be hard to differentiate such feelings from love tho, which explains why she looks to be very troubled about it. But yeah i think she likes Jack, but she's in love with Will.
In case it interests you. 31:38 - The game is called liars die. Each player gets 6 d6 die and a cup. You shake the cup and put it on the table face down to hide the results. Then, starting with whoever goes first, you guess how many copies of each die are on the table with the only knowledge being in what your die are. You are allowed to look at your die, but no one else's. When you make a guess, you have to declare the Dice Value and the Quantity. The only rule is that you can never guess a lower quantity. So if player one days 6 5s, the next player must match or increase the value of 6. But they can choose any die face value. On your turn you have the option to accuse the previous player of being a liar. Now, in the official game, if you are found to be a liar you loose 1 die in your set. If you call someone a liar but they are found to be right, then the person to accused them looses a die. If you loose all your die you are out of the game. In the film, they do not play it in rounds (probably because screen time) the first person who looses has to pay up on whatever the wager was. In this case, years of service. In this case, Davy started with claiming 4 4s. In this case, Davey Jones bluffed. He didn't have the die and being early in the game no one was likely to claim him to be a liar. Will followed up with 4 5s and matched Davy Jones. It is worth taking note that at this point Davy is now aware that he himself has 3 5s and Will claimed 4 5s. So Davy follows up and claims 7 5s on the assumption that Will made his claim with 4 5s under his cup. This is when things get risky because now Will and Davy both know there are 7 5s in play and they have now likely accounted for all the 5s between them. Which leaves Bootstrap as the unknown variable. The problem with this seen is that Bill does not get a turn between Will and Davy claiming 5s so we can only assume whatever he did claim would confirm to both Davy and Will there were no other 5s in play. Which is why Davy gets a little pissed at Bill when Bill claims 12 5s Because Davy is now aware that Bill only got into the game to be a shield for Will. Which irritates him. Needless to say, they conclude the game after this one round.
This is my favorite one in the franchise. The action, the characters, the settings, and that soundtrack! Davy Jones’s pull-up game is crazy, and Jack Sparrow is the 🐐 real 🤘🏽
At the beginning of Pirates 1, when Jack is talking to the 2 navy guys. Right before he saves Elizabeth from drowning he says "Then they made me their chief". I wonder if this is the same people he was originally talking about. 12:15
It's been a while since I last saw this movie. I'd forgotten how good it was and your reactions make it even better. Thanks so much. Love your comments how the movies tie together.
The franchise was never supposed to be about Jack. Depp improvised most of the things that made the character what he is. After the success of the first movie, the next ones were written around his character in a way the first one wasn't because they wanted to capitalize on the success of Depp's performance. During the filming of the first one, some of the executives thought Depp would ruin the whole movie with his choices.
32:08 There's a deleted scene where the first round with Davy Jones Will actually wins his father's freedom. So when his father joined the second game, he was wagering his newly won freedom :'(
The deleted scene from the third movie is the worst one :(, not worst as in bad scene but worst as in bad decision to take it out. Iam talking about when the new commodore talks about how jack became a known pirate.
1- Sailing in a coffin 2- cannibals + fruits 3- Tia dalma in a swamp 4- An alive beard It can't be just coincidence. This is Monkey island. Davy Jones and cursed barbosa are two versions of Le Chuck
Something to know my friends. Captain Jack was against Barbosa in the first film of taking Cortez treasure and so was BootStrap Bill. So when they put Bootstrap at the bottom of the ocean he was literally alive down there but not cursed with the taking of Cortez is treasure. This was before those events. Bootstrap was unable to escape death because of Davy Jones is deal
To answer your question about Will on the wreckage at the start of the first movie. Will was on a ship heading to wherever & the Black pearl attacked the ship looking for the medallion that will had on that Elizabeth took off of him. The Medallion was a gift from Wills father. It didn't have anything to do with Davy jones. They were looking for the medallion that Bootstrap Bill sent to Will. That is why Elizabeth sees the Black Pearl leaving the wreckage when she was a child.
Funny filming thing I always think of during this movie...not long after it came out, I had read an interview with Kiera Knightly talking about shooting the ship scenes with the Kraken...since the actors couldn't react well or cohesively during the bigger scenes because they were all trying to react to things that weren't there, production would have some crew members just running around the set yelling, "I'M A TENTACLE!!!" 😂😂😂🐙
The thing with Jack's place in this movie versus the first one is in the first one he's the central character and the other characters are supporting at best, their story and personality is fleshed out by the end so we get in the second movie a more ensemble cast where Jack is a big part of things but he's just a part and not all of it. The 3rd movie really takes everything up to the max and you'll be exhausted by the end of it and you'll have a new perspective on Jack's place in things.
These movies are so intertwined, it’s really genius. As kids these are the silly pirate movies but they are a work of art. No wonder they stand the test of time
This is the first series I’ve watched from you guys and I LOVE this. I remember watching the movie around the time it came out and the Barbossa scene is still one of the best reveals of all time, in my opinion. Can’t wait to see you guys watch the third movie!
Checking in to see if you guys learned any historical facts about the events surrounding piracy since the first film. Knowing you've seen GoT, did you notice the 'trying to read bible' pirate was also the 'warging wildling' sent with Jon to climb the wall?
So... the liars dice scene. 1. Quick rundown... it IS poker with dice, well done Pudgey. The first person bids like say "three 4s" meaning he bets there are a total of 3 4s amongst all the players' dice. Next person either calls the bid a lie or bids higher...higher numeric or higher quantity or both (i.e., four 4s, or three 5s). This continues until someone calls the lie...if that person is right, the bidder loses, otherwise the lie-caller loses. 2. Will's wager had to be high enough to get Davey Jones to accept the counter-wager of the key. And considering what the key is for, it really didnt matter if Will lost. He played Jones. All Will needed was knowledge of the key's existence and whereabouts. Bill jumping in just muddled it... but it also showed how much he cared for Will not to have to share his fate.
dont know if its an official rule, but when we played we had a rule "spot on" if you call say 3 5's and someone calls spot on on you, and there is exactly 3 5's everyone but the spot on caller loses a die
Since the rest of the movies are already posted I can say this.. I love when pudgey guesses fake deaths but the confidence she had saying “I believe this death!!” About Barbosa, but him later actually being revealed to be alive 😂😂😂😂
The reason the compass never "works" for Captain Jack, when he wants to find Davy Jones' chest, is because his intent was never really to find the chest and gain leverage over Jones. Captain Jack always wanted the same thing that he wanted even in the first movie. To be free, and sail the 7 seas on his precious pearl. So the compass always pointed to the Black Pearl when in his hands.
😂😅🤣 That scene is GOLD!! Lol... I was so happy to hear such a HAPPY LAUGH, from you guys! Lol... And I think you're correct...; I've NEVER heard you laugh that "heartily" before. 😂 Loved it ! Thank you for trying this one.😘
30:00 i've been looking through the comments and can''t see any on it, but there is actually a deleted scene here where Will plays Jones the first times for his father's freedom and wins, so technically, is THIS scene that's in the movie, Will Turner Sr. is NOT crew
Imagine if Bootstrap hadn't joined up with Davey Jones. He'd have been stuck at the bottom of the ocean, unable to die, right up until the curse was broken and he suddenly became mortal again. D:

@@JCrushFitness yea I believe the ship was named the Wicked Wench before?
I think a prequel movie following this story could be great if they did it right
It also explains why Norington called Jack "The worst pirate I ever heard of"... Because of this.
True what he cared about the most was himself

As someone who has seen this franchise time and time again, I don't think Elizabeth loves Jack at any moment (at least not in the same capacity as she loved Will). When the compass pointed to jack, in Elizabeth's hands, was when Norrington asked, "have you never asked yourself how Will ended up prisioner of Davy Jones, in the first place?", I figured in that moment Elizabeth wanted to know who the culprit of that situation was and that's when the compass pointed to Jack.
Captain Jack Sparrow is one of the best characters in film history!

I'm very relieved they didn't actually go down the route of Elizabeth having genuine love for Jack.
I always disliked the movie opening that door. It wasnt fun, this series never need a two part romantic misunderstanding arc.
It was odd but their chemistry was 🔥🔥
It never was intended it just you giys thinking that way
@@oq1106 wasn't so much of a romantic arc as it was just a way to push the plot forward. in the end elizabeth's deception is what killed jack after all

(Since they've obviously seen the third one by now there is also no spoiler if I point out that) Will and Elizabeth literally have a conversation about how he thought she was in love with Jack.
Barbossa's reveal still gives me chills. 💜
Barbossa's entrace is one of my favourite movie moments. Great surprise, great cliffhanger, love it every time
The way the theater went wild at the end when Barbosa appeared. Great memory.
So glad you guys are enjoying this great trilogy.
11:17 that parrot gave you a clue .."dont eat me" :D
The Barbossa reveal is still one of the greatest in cinema history. Totally caught me off guard when I first saw it.
This movie still has my favorite song from any movie ever. The Davy Jones theme is absolutely iconic
I remember when I watched this in the cinema and the moment Barbossa came back everybody got hyped, what an iconic moment :D
Jack was holding the pardons. He had just taken them from her.
AND Will was currently in the water that direction about to join them.
Norrington had also just said "Have you ever wondered how your latest fiance ended up captured by davy jones?" Elizabeth wants to know who was responsible. It pointed at Jack.
Honestly it could be any of these theories, or even all of them. they all fit
Each Pirate movie have an after credit scene, in the last one the monkey stole another coin and became undead.
Liar's Dice is a fun game to play with friends. My friends and I play this on occasions before, or after D&D.
Here's how it works:
Each player starts with 5 six sided die, then rolls them and keeps them hidden under cups.
The compass wasn't pointing at Jack, it was pointing towards where Will was, which coincidentally was in Jack's direction
“I got a jar of dirt, I got a jar of diiiiirrrttt” most epic line in this movie 🤣🤣🤣
I really couldn’t care less for romances in movies, but Will and Elizabeth completely won me over. My favorite movie couple!!!😍😍😍
Dont touch my dirt ! 😂
I love him too
Davy Jones is one of my all time favorite movie villains. Not just his mannerisms and presence, but how good the CGI looks. It's mind blowing what they were able to accomplish when this movie came out.
Pudgey being in denial when characters die, like, every time vs. Pudgey believing Barbosa is dead and gone just for him to come back 😂
1:04:10 A little bit of clarification and time-lining for you (no spoilers of course)....
Ooh, this makes sense! 😮
Davy Jones CGI is one of the best CGI works ever🤩
Fun fact!!
When jack fell down the stairs, it was not planned. But he stayed in character which actually confused Orlando and Keira.
Fun fact🤓, fun fact😲, fun fact😱, fun fact🤯
no true, it is all in the script.
Little Will was on a normal merchant ship that was attacked by Barbosa's crew because he had the Medallion. They were searching for all the coins.
The thing about this franchise...is Jack Sparrow is NOT the main character....he's the foil.
Elizabeth and Will are the main characters.
Does it really matter?
Barbossa has to be my fav character from this series, and At Worlds End is my fav
At 46:12 when Jack fell that was not scripted to happen
I love Cutler Beckett. He's a great character.
A bit of fun lore for this trilogy: Jack became a Pirate and enemy to Beckett due to him being instructed to transport slaves “cargo” and Jack instead freed the slaves and became a pirate. That is why he says the Black Pearl represents freedom
36:21 No. Will's ship was attacked by the Black Pearl in the prologue of the first movie.
At the start of the first film, you will notice Elizabeth sees the Balck Pearl sailing away as she sees Will stranded in the water... so the Black Pearl caused whatever left Will abandoned.

36:29 - Haha, no, Spartan it was the Black Peral at the start of the first film that attacked the ship Will was on. xP It was not the Dutchman.
it's such a delight to hear Pudgey laugh finally :D❤

During the filming of the first one, some of the executives thought Depp would ruin the whole movie with his choices.
badda-bing barda-bosa is chefs kiss Pudge
32:08 There's a deleted scene where the first round with Davy Jones Will actually wins his father's freedom. So when his father joined the second game, he was wagering his newly won freedom :'(
The deleted scene from the third movie is the worst one :(, not worst as in bad scene but worst as in bad decision to take it out. Iam talking about when the new commodore talks about how jack became a known pirate.

The 3rd one is the absolute best one bro.

So... the liars dice scene.
🏋🏻♂️🏋🏻♂️ Pudgey saying "oooohhhhh shit" over and over again was the best part
This movie is so much fun, even better than the first!
I hope you guys are gonna post the third one very soon, that’s my personal favourite!
So the compass always pointed to the Black Pearl when in his hands.
this movie got my friends and I to learn liar's dice back when it came out. Still play it with them on occasion to this day.

That scene is GOLD!!

30:00 i've been looking through the comments and can''t see any on it, but there is actually a deleted scene here where Will plays Jones the first times for his father's freedom and wins, so technically, is THIS scene that's in the movie, Will Turner Sr. is NOT crew
32:23 Calling Davy Jones ugly is certainly an opinion, but I don't really feel the appreciation for the CGI work here...
The first movie makes more sense, and it's overall a better film. However, I find this one much more enjoyable
Imagine if Bootstrap hadn't joined up with Davey Jones. He'd have been stuck at the bottom of the ocean, unable to die, right up until the curse was broken and he suddenly became mortal again. D:
