    I’m sorry, but using Tim Wood to explain the 7 wastes is little more than memorization. You should explain the wastes in the proper order with the reasons they are in that order. When people *get it*, there won’t be any need for memorization. They will see waste everywhere they look.

      @@LeanSmarts Certainly! The mother of all waste is Overproduction... making more than the next station can manage. As soon as someone overproduces, they have Inventory. Inventory has to be moved around, that's Transportation. Most likely Transportation also involves a person, which is waste of Motion. Inventory also hides Defects (not to mention - Transportation can cause Defects too). Defects cause unnecessary work, otherwise known as Overprocessing. All of this extra Motion and Overprocessing results in the customer Waiting, and your employees being busy chasing problems all day is the waste of human potential, or the 8th deadly waste.
