    Man I found the video and I thought that it will nice to see how to change he clutch from my smart . I have experience from my old peaugeot but really this is disaster. Most of the videos you untied bolts :) . I think that this time I will pay .
    Good luck and you really made good job ( at least with the videos).

      If the clutch disc is gone you risk ruining the flywheel as well. Thanks and good luck with your smart.

    Very usefull video! Thanks. Now I can replaced that mount in my Smart (451). But I'm a little confused: At 4:27 are you tightening the screw or loosening the screw?

    • @UnauThorizedMechanic
      @UnauThorizedMechanic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. The thread is clockwise, so it must be tightened clockwise. At 4:27 I'm Loosening the screw. The final tightening is at 5:10

      @@UnauThorizedMechanic Aah OK no problem . Just wondering would a very noisy rattling sound on iengine idle be the clutch ? I was told that the rivets can break on the pressure plate and rattle on idle .

      If you're working on a Smart, get a whole set from E4-E20 - Amazon for like $15.

      Totally agree with Tech Gorilla, you need a Torx KIT. Anyway I'm sorry but I don't remember the specific number of the key.

    I got a new clutch actuator and I CANNOT get it adjusted properly. No matter how I adjust it, it's like I get a clutch dump and a BANG when I release the brakes. It's almost like the clutch isn't releasing the flywheel. I'm kind of frustrated.

    • @UnauThorizedMechanic
      @UnauThorizedMechanic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hope you marked how it was registered before taking it apart. Turning on the instrument cluster and pressing the brake pedal for a few seconds should initiate the self-adjustment procedure. However, the actuator should self-adjust itself to compensate for the wear of the clutch over time.

    • @TechGorilla1987
      @TechGorilla1987 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@UnauThorizedMechanic I did mark the original location with marker on the frame of the trans. I'm also thinking that the adjustment is VERY fine and I cannot seem to nail it down. I thought the replacement would be pretty easy, but I have been fighting this banging since I changed it. I cannot get the vehicle out of the driveway, or at least I am afraid to in it's current state.

    • @UnauThorizedMechanic
      @UnauThorizedMechanic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try putting the gear selector "N" and keep the brake pedal pressed for at least 5 seconds. An adjustment procedure should be initiated. As a last resource you could try to disconnect the battery to reset the ECU, consider that this option could lead to unknown consequences, I heard about Smart not turning on anymore. Mine does not have this problem, I can disconnect it without problems. If you can't find a solution, you need to have it reset by an official Mercedes diagnostic.

      @@UnauThorizedMechanic I got semi-frustrated and after the last time I adjusted it, I just jammed it out of the driveway and around the block. It DOES shift and seems to understand that it's a car, but it's still not quite right. I have to say that I am VERY thankful and happy that you're taking the time to assist me through comments. I know that can be a frustrating endeavor.
      I think what I have now is a learning adjustment period to go through. Unfortunately, when the old actuator was in the car, I did a series of things that probably made the computers completely lose their learned adjustments. If I am confident enough that it's not going to flip out, I will take it to a dealer for a re-learn and a software update.

      Giving you some advice was a pleasure, indeed thank you for reporting your problem and how you solved it. Your experience could be very useful for those who decide to change the clutch or just the actuator, being calibration the last and more controversial step.
      If there were any news on how it evolved it would be great if you shared it.

    эта болезнь всех смартов ((( но мы нашли решение ))) отдали на маленький частный завод и нам отлили из полеуретана эту подушку ))) то есть востановили старую , теперь работает и не рвётся !!!!! так как полеуритан этастичней и менее подвержен температурам !

      Replacing the rubber of the engine mounts with liquid polyurethane could be a good idea, but you have to guess the right stiffness. If not, you risk not filtering the vibrations.
