Met Mr. Williams at a famous toy store in San Francisco. He was scanning comic books and I was across from him. I said “Hey, has anyone ever said ‘you look like Robin Williams?’.” He replied “Yah, my mom” he continued to shot the shit with me and waited for his kids to finish shopping. When I think of my childhood Robin Williams is one of the first things that comes to mind. Being 5 years old and the only vhs we had was Flubber, he was never not entertaining to watch in any of his films. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but the man had a heart of gold and a beautiful mind, I loved watching the man's performances my whole life; I can't say that about too many comedians/actors that I'm a huge fan of now. Understandable if you don't have that type of attachment to him but allot of people do.

My friend worked on the TV show "The Crazy Ones," which was one of the last projects Robin worked on before he died. I was invited to LA for the post-production wrap party and it was absolutely surreal -- Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prince Jr sat next to me on a sofa and I was petrified to make eye contact, and I also got to hang out with Shooter McGavin from Happy Gilmore and met Chris D'elia's dad (yikes!). Unfortunately Robin could not attend because he was filming Night at the Museum 3, but he recorded a special message for everyone that they played on a projector and I'll never forget watching that and feeling like I was witness to something special, as he basically explained how much the crew meant to him and actually started to cry during his speech. I met a lot of production members and EVERYONE said he was the nicest celebrity they had worked with. Even my friend told me how on the very first day, Robin walked around and personally introduced himself to every single minor crew member (including my buddy), shook their hands and tried to make an effort to remember their names. A true class act and as someone who grew up watching his movies, I truly miss his presence in the world.

Robin Williams could do an interview and completely hijack it, in the most beautiful way ever. He went to Juilliard, mixed the training with his raw talent and became an improvizational god. There's one clip, Inside The Actors Studio (I think). He took a damn scarf and went into character, a lady in the front row nearly died of laughter.
I'm South African and it just shows how great the man was, he reached hearts all over the world. I've seen every single one of films and he's stand-up is legendary too. Oh, and please go watch Dead Poets Society.

I met a man who runs one of the top private security companies, doing security for all kinds of celebrities. He said their black list was full of celebrity assholes who would start fights and expect security to finish them -- and Robin Williams. However, the reason Robin was on their blacklist was because he was so insanely funny that he would make the team laugh so hard it was a liability for them, because the guys couldn't focus. True story.

As a man living with Bipolar myself, I can relate to the racing thoughts of Robbie Williams. As he has said himself. Him in public and him at home were two different persons. The depression that follows this condition is much worse than most people think. I can relate to that too. But for him it was much worse than "just" bipolar. Much worse... a lot of darkness.... In the last few interviews you can see it in his eyes. At least now that we know. I seem to remember that they found out that he had another condition as well after he died? I can't remember what it was. But his demons must have been out of this world, so to speak. His mind was racing all the time, no rest.

I was serving on the Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) back in 2003. It was Christmas and we were all miserable and being the Navy, far from home, especially during the holidays was a bummer for everyone.
We all heard that some VIPs were coming courtesy of the USO and so as the news spread we were all taking bets on who was going to come.
It ended up being Leann Tweeden, John Elway, Blake Clark, and …. Robin Williams!
So Leann was super cool and spoke to us and thanked us for our service, Elway threw footballs around and compared the war on terror to the Broncos fighting Green Bay (🤣), Blake Clark did some awesome bits and spoke like he did on The Waterboy, and then Robin freaking Williams came out like a hurricane and made 5000 Sailors and Marines laugh until we had tears in our eyes. I’ll never forget - the Airedales had painted a giant snake 🐍 on the hangar bay doors (if I can be permitted to be real, they were better at being Airedales than artists). The first thing that comes out of Robin Williams’s mouth was ‘Holy shit! An effeminate snake, Darwin would have a field day!’
He did some of his best bits including the invention of golf. I got to meet him, and being Christmas and all, I have him a fake Breitling I purchased in some dusty soukh, and he laughed and shook my hand and he thanked me. I told him that after I got out, I’d become an actor and one day I would work with him. He told me I was funny and he hoped to see me on set. To this day, it was the best Christmas I’ve ever had. In the middle of the Persian Gulf, on a carrier, when someone sacrificed his own Christmas to make a few of US laugh. Thank you Mr. Williams. I never did get to work with you, but I carry your spirit whenever I do act.

I remember my mom used to subscribe to Reader's Digest and I used to read certain things while I'd take a shit...mostly the humorous anecdotes like "Humor In Uniform", "Laughter is the Best Medicine", etc. Anyway, there was an article in one that I read about Christopher Reeve...it was an interview with him; and he was talking about how right after his accident and subsequent surgeries he was sitting there, depressed AF because life was no longer going to be the same and how it was going to be a long arduous journey to come to grips with that concept...So he was sitting there and he had a visitor come to see him...the gentleman walked in, dressed like a dr. and started speaking with a German accent...then he said something about "turning the patient over for a proctology exam", and that's when Reeve realized it was Robin Williams.
That story always stuck with me, and how great it must have been to have a friend like Williams who was there for you in your darkest hour...and then it makes me a little sad to think about how lonely Williams must've been when he committed suicide. No one to walk in, making proctology jokes. It's not that I blame any of his friends for not being there...I think most of them had no idea he was suffering. It just makes me sad a little bit.

He went into a friend's home in La Jolla and I could see him through the windows (not peeping, I was his driver) and it was as if you could see a million-watt light bulb was turned on in the middle of a small crowd as he responded to the attention. Robin Williams is my favourite Comedian slash Actor of all time. I was born in the mid/late 80's so I was a child during the 1990's and my favourite two childhood movies of ALL-TIME are Mrs. Doubtfire and Hook. Jumanji is a good movie but isn't close to as good as Hook or Mrs Doubtfire. Hook is to me is one of the best childhood movies ever. Heck I'm in my early 30s now and I just watched Hook a couple months ago. Williams was one of the best comedic actors of all time. I never cry in my life but I did the day he died, Williams touched so many lives across the country and was such a great person from what I've heard about him, no one has a bad thing to say about the guy.
