I think he's making too much of a fuss over this. The distance wasn't that much further. Also he could have called/messaged the customer BEFORE he took the food. It doesn't hurt to go out of your way a little for a customer.
Edit *For uber drivers who are maybe new:* Take the delivery to the address given on the customer's profile, nowhere else. If nobody shows up, a timer starts. wait the allocated 7 minutes, then Uber will end the delivery. Your job is done correctly and you get paid. And you get the pizzas 🙂

You should start a new service: "Drunkeroo - deliveries for the good times!" You can be the main driver and guy in the ad, because you have way more patience to deal with this drunken nonsense. You can include a call to 999 for the customer as part of the service if needed. 😂

Yep, I believe there is protocol in place to report this behaviour, and it would probably result in the customer account being banned as it would be classed as fraud by providing false address I'm assuming

I don't get take out much, but when I do i tip 18-20% knowing those drivers might not get many orders. And that hammered pizza dude owes you 10 pounds minimum.

what i find amazing a driver who obeys the street laws, I work on a one way street and deliveroo/uber riders are on the pavement at speed going wrong way down street. had many collision with people. Keep up the good work.

bro ive had the opposite effect, i was working for dominos, and these ppl ordered right, they tipped on the app, and then when i got there, the guy was hollering 'omg who ordered all this food?' he tipped me again, and then his wife came out like 'omg let me tip you he's drunk'. so i got tipped THREE times on the same order
Yeah a kickoff for a couple of quid is not worth it someone will lose. Either tell him to come get it or wait until the timer ends and take the food or take it to him. You picked the nice option many wouldn't
20:11 I haven’t been working late because there are a lot of gated communities. My bike doesn’t open the gates, and I’d need to wait for someone driving in or out to leave. I found out I could put rare earth magnets on the bottom to trip the gates. I bought them but haven’t put them on my bike yet. We’ll see how it works.

I work delivering groceries directly for Sainsbury’s supermarket and for some reason we have a policy that there has to be an 18+ year old in to take delivery regardless of what’s in the order. I don’t know if Sainsbury’s can request the ask for ID from the app, maybe?

Dont need a chainsaw unfortunately. At least in Amsterdam you got guys driving around in vans with bolt cutters. That will go through any lock no matter how expensive it is. They dont even bother with the small lock. Its just jump out, cut it loose, grab the biks, dump it in the van and off they go. In Amsterdam everyone who doesnt have a secure indoor space for their bikes, use ones that look as cheap and old as possible. You can buy them everywhere for just 200-300 euro. And these are fine really, for your daily routine like going to school or work and picking up shopping afterwards you dont need a fancy bike. You can even rent them at most larger railway stations for only 4-5 euro per 24 hours. Extremely basic bikes but they get you where you need to go and you can even lock and unlock them with your public transportaton card. Very convenient.

If the customer gives me the wrong address, I bring up the subject of compensation when they ask if I can deliver to their new address while I'm still on the phone. More often than not, the customer brings it up themselves when they realise their mistake. However, if they don't, I'll explain that I'm only getting paid for the mileage/time to deliver to the location they selected, and I say something like "I'm happy to do that, as long as you cover my expenses and pay me for my time". I'm sure I'll eventually get someone who says "I'll tip you" then changes their mind once I get there, or they say they'll tip me in the app but they don't - but that's a risk I'm happy to take, as long as the majority of people are genuine. As long as I'm getting paid enough to make it worth my time when this happens, I'd rather not ruin someone's day by keeping their order because of an honest mistake. If the customer started being a Karen about it, or if I find I'm regularly being lied to about payment, that's when I would keep orders.
Most people are genuine, only a few take the piss and in those cases I tell support im not willing to travel the extra distance and get to keep the food. Most people have given me cash or a tip in app if they get the delivery address wrong. Had a guy the other day order to his home, but he was in another city. Obviously a mistake. he couldn't be bothered dealing with uber support (understandable they are shite) so told me to go "deliver it", keep the meal and he'll reorder. lol
I dont get how this works and what justification they used for it, who pays when there are no orders? Understand if you have a contracted job but not gig work.

So it is sort of an hourly "equivalent". BC (Canada) just passed a new law guaranteeing a minimum wage for delivery drivers ($20.88/hour CAD, approx. £11.71).
