    It would be so cool if you were a traveler guide . I’d love to learn more about Iceland with a guide like you! I’m on a solo travel kick this year and have traveled to a few places outside the country this year, and would love to see Iceland someday!

    Looked into a campervan and it just wasn't enough of a savings. Our hotels and car came to $2173USD for 8 days and 7 nights. The gas would have been more expensive for a van. We did a thousand miles on our trip. We were in Iceland from 10/9 - 10/16 this year. Being from NY I didn't find Iceland any more expensive, except for the gas, than prices here. In fact the hotels and cabins were far less expensive. Here in the Hudson Valley a hotel room in Kingston can be $300 a night. All of our hotels and cabins which had private bathrooms were under that price.

    I will come to visit Iceland one day, but I think due to the need for bathroom in the night, I think an RV with a toilet, would probably be my preference😊

    • @AllThingsIceland
      @AllThingsIceland  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally understand that. At the moment, the only barrier for some Americans wanting to rent an RV here is that most of them are manual vehicles. I hope that changes in the future.

    Just got back from Iceland two weeks ago. We rented a campervan from a company that was not Go Campers and had an absolutely miserable experience. To preference, I OWN a campervan and am a very experienced campervan traveler. We rented one of this company’s EX vans (for experienced) and it was so uncomfortable that we ended up renting hotel rooms/hostels every night. We were three people and I was the designated person to sleep up top. First, there was no way to climb up into the berth - none. Fortunately (or not) I was able to hoist myself up by stepping on the refrigerator (probably why the fridge lid was broken). However, there was barely enough room for me to turn on my side. I am not claustrophobic in the slightest but I could not sleep in the upper berth and ended up sleeping across the front seats. My two travel companions were miserable in the bed which was a thin 1 inch piece of foam over fold down seats that literally had springs poking out. It was more comfortable sleeping across the three front seats. Generally, I think renting a campervan to tour Iceland is a great way to see the country but really check out which company you use so you don’t end up with a “Crappy Camper” like we did.

      @AllThingsIceland  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing your experience with a different camper van company in Iceland and I’m sorry it was so miserable. I’m pretty sure I know exactly the company you’re referring to.

    It's decided. When we visit Iceland, my husband and I will do the campervan to see the country. It seems so very practical and allows for flexibility and spontaneity. 💡 Thank you for highlighting this awesome idea! Looking forward to your camper series, Jewells. Wonderful vlog‼️💯

    Absolutely love this idea, Jewells! I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I really enjoy car camping in my Prius because I’m cheap! Van camping will seems posh 🤣 Can’t wait for my Iceland trip. Thank you. This is my type of video! ❤

    This is my opinion and others may disagree but I really enjoy these types of vlogs better if there is more scenery of the place you're vlogging about. I would actually like to see Iceland. I understand it's very informational but I think it could be cool if you were still giving the information but had footage that you cut to as you're talking of Iceland's the scenery and terrain. Again this is just my preference, and I'm just throwing it out there, but maybe something to consider? Maybe others will agree? ☺

    Has travelling in a van hindered your ability to drive on some of the roads in Iceland? My worry about renting a camper is not being able to visit everything because the van can’t get there. Thanks!

      @@AllThingsIceland Then you should buy one. Because there have been really bad accident with this type of rental cars in the past (because of the gas). Why this is not mandated by laws I do not know. But it should be a requirement.
