Welcome to my bold and brilliant new strategy to speedrun Duolingo! Was this educational? Definitely not. But I do know how to say "lanjutkan" now, so I guess I've learned something. 🤷♀️

As someone who’s done the English version of French Duolingo, I got such iconic sentences as
“They haven’t ever touched a hedgehog”
“He has worn the same socks since last Thursday”
“Lucas hasn’t spoken since
t h e a c c i d e n t”
These are literally the first three I could find on my phone
Update: the next three I found were
“I’m sorry, she’s dead”
“He found a bloody knife”
“he disappeared”
I think Duolingo is trying to threaten me lol

Their English course(at least from the languages I’ve gone through trying to squeeze some more vocab mining out of it) are more how I wish their others were where they stop having you translate at a point and just give you pure English

as a kid I once got bored and tried to do duolingo French learning English (my first language is English, and I had a tiny bit of French), but gave up almost immediately when I thought it was basically just gonna be the same as English learning French, but now it seems kinda fun

These are so fun! I tried English from Thai before since there’s no Thai from English (yet?), but I didn’t find it super helpful to learn Thai. Just like learning a different language on Duo doesn’t really help me learn English.

I wonder, if you were to do this again in a different langauge, if the course would look different (maybe because of the differences between Indonesian and, say, French, Duolingo would teach English in a different way?)

actually duo has 2 other voices, yk those male and female voices which are not connected to any characters? like the ones in match practices? well in some very specific lessons with those voices you can press the share button after completing them. then it is revealed that duo is the character with those voices. So duo somehow has 3 voices

I got that long ago go in a swedish lesson (I still can’t speak any swedish)
I did this with French as it is my second language. Spedran English, and do daily review to continue my streak, though it does occasionally ask me to translate the english into french, which can be hard if you speedrun in a language you don't know
Adding onto that, French words aren't too hard in my opinion, it's the grammar rules that mess you up like masculine and feminine, verb conjugations and order of words
