Surah Al-Humazah, also known as "The Slanderer" or "The Traducer," is the 104th chapter of the Quran. It was revealed in Makkah and consists of 9 verses. The chapter condemns the behavior of those who engage in backbiting, slander, and mockery.
Here is a brief overview of Surah Al-Humazah:
Verses 1-3: The chapter begins by condemning the slanderers and backbiters, referring to them as those who gather wealth and count it, thinking that their wealth will make them immortal. It warns them of the ultimate consequences of their actions.
Verses 4-7: The verses describe how these individuals, while accumulating wealth, harm themselves by harboring malice and ill intentions towards others. They engage in backbiting and mocking others' shortcomings, thinking that they will never be held accountable for their behavior.
Verses 8-9: The chapter concludes by stating that on the Day of Judgment, these individuals will be thrown into a blazing fire as a result of their actions. Their wealth and possessions will be of no benefit to them, and they will face a severe punishment.
Surah Al-Humazah serves as a strong warning against the destructive behavior of slander, backbiting, and mockery. It highlights the negative consequences that such actions have on individuals' spiritual well-being and their ultimate fate in the Hereafter. The chapter reminds believers of the importance of guarding their tongues, speaking positively about others, and refraining from engaging in harmful speech. It serves as a reminder of the accountability that awaits individuals who engage in harmful behavior towards others.

Narrated Salama bin Al-Akwa: Once, while we were sitting in the company of Prophet(peace be upon him), a dead man was brought. The Prophet(peace be upon him)was requested to lead the funeral prayer for the deceased. He said, Is he in debt? The people replied in the negative. He said, Has he left any wealth? They said, No. So, he led his funeral prayer. Another dead man was brought and the people said, O Allah's Apostle! Lead his funeral prayer. The Prophet(peace be upon him) said, Is he in debt? They said, Yes. He said, Has he left any wealth? They said, ''Three Dinars. So, he led the prayer. Then a third dead man was brought and the people said (to the Prophet ), Please lead his funeral prayer. He said, Has he left any wealth? They said, No. He asked, Is he in debt? They said, ( Yes! He has to pay) three Diners.', He (refused to pray and) said, Then pray for your (dead) companion. Abu Qatada said, O Allah's Apostle! Lead his funeral prayer, and I will pay his debt. So, he led the prayer.
