This is said that music is food for the soul whereas it is actually food for nafs e ammara. Quran describes three stages of nafs i.e. nafs e ammara, nafs e lawama and nafs e mutmainna. In order to progress to nafs e mutmaina one has to stop feeding nafs e ammara with music.

I am not in favour of music but there is no conclusive instructions in islam forbidding music. It is unlikable and goes against the theme of islam but still cannot be declared totally haram. If the lyrics are ok, what hadith or quranic verse prohibit it in a clear cut way?
What about watching movie, even documentaries from educational point of view? Also, without background music current youth are nor ready to watch Islamic documentaries. A Spiderman teaser of just 2 minutes is able to make Spiderman the alpha of todays earliest childhood i.e. 5 to 10 years old and i am sure that background music is playing vital role.

I searched whether music is haram or not but i didn't get that much information about the thing that makes me accept that it is haram .The line (It works like a drug) so that make me clear that it is haram i watched so many board cast before that music is haram or not but i didn't get the information that make me accept that it is haram the example you give that there so many meats cow meats etc this example is very very helpful to accept that music is harmful for us and the hadees you mentioned it make so so much clear that it is haram . I am not in favour of music but there is no conclusive instructions in islam forbidding music. It is unlikable and goes against the theme of islam but still cannot be declared totally haram. If the lyrics are ok, what hadith or quranic verse prohibit it in a clear cut way?
