    Nice jig. I'm a locksmith. The only thing I would suggest is when your first crossbore breaks through take your holesaw out and finish from the other side. Eliminates breakout.

      @Phelebas I have the same jig just put a sacrafical piece of wood on the exit side .

    • @michael.schuler
      @michael.schuler 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Phelebas. I've used this Templaco jig for many years. Tearout on the cross-bore exit side is completely minimal. The casting has identical holes on both sides, sized just big enough to allow the cross-bore bit to pass through them. As the casting acts as a clamp, sqeezed tightly against both sides of the door, it eliminates tearout in the same way that the guide strip does on a tracksaw. No need for any further precautions.

    • @RikoRey92
      @RikoRey92 ปีที่แล้ว

      The jig is made to prevent that, the hole on the other side is the exact diameter of the bit so when it comes out there's no rik of tear out, been using this jig for 3 years now bits are still sharp, only wish the templates were made out of a better material, it's pretty expensive

    • @JonDunnmusician

      This version being all aluminum should last a lifetime or 3. Even though the milwaukee one is one of the better cheap plastic style jigs, you eventually will end up "wearing it" , especially if there are several people using the jig over its life.

      Im wandering if he did that because of larger drywall or multiple layers of drywall. Most stock jambs dont work with ⁵/⁸ drywall, and especially not any wall that may be double layered. Only thing you need to do is install the door as you would with extension side protruding past drywall, scribe, cut off the excess, install jamb trim.
