@Turquoise Cheetah I think there is more too it than that. but it is kind of hard to argue that in the face of ust the fact that most spiders offspring eat them. But Some spiders also eat their offspring and some eat their mates soo... Spiders in general are just messed up, kind of like how Great Whites eat their brothers and sisters in the womb. I don't think that caring about your offspring is just a factor of making your genetics survive. There are other things to back this up, like the fact that in the 1400's humans basically abandoned their children in mass numbers and made them walk down trails of treats to get rid of them. That's bad parenting, yet we survived. I think there is something more to it like something mixed in translation than just survival. Like how if you try to translate certain phrases from Japanese to English and vice versa they don't make sense. Just minimizing it to The whole point of life is survival just kind of minimizes a lot of things going on in the world.

That's gotta be a stressful thing for the mother to have her eggs taken away just before they are ready to hatch. Around here in delaware, we have these medium sized wolf spiders that are usually found hiding in mulch beds. The females produce these perfectly round, bright, pure white egg sacs, that they seem to carry with them everywhere they go. Normally I'll find them when working in flower beds, when I disturb the mulch. When I see a spider that looks like a mature female, who isn't carrying an egg sac, I will move her to a spot far enough away from me(3-4 feet) that she will feel comfortable enough to stay still long enough for me to search the spot where she emerged from, to locate a possible egg sac that may have been knocked off of her when she was first disturbed. Often, I'll quickly find the bright white egg sac among the dark dirt, mulch. Then I'll pick it up, and carefully lay it beside her. In those instances, she'll usually pick it up and leave.
This warms my heart, thank you for all the care and love you have for them. I loved that you apologized for taking the sack from the mother. You're the best.

A month ago, this would have given me the shivers and the itches watching this... but since I got into jumping spiders... which is the gateway drug to other spiders... I have lost that creeped-out feeling. Now, I see each of those as precious. I love the care you take in taking the egg sac.

Hey Nicky Pearce Try looking into some alternative arachnids----- Thelyphonida------- vinegarone or whip scorpion Amblypygi----------- tailless whip scorpion Solifugae------------- sun spider or camel spider These are delightfully creepy but they all share one trait; they have no venom. One problem is that the sun spiders and tailless whip scorpion are blazing fast. The vinegarone is slow. It gets its name because it sprays acetic acid from its back end. Regular vinegar is 20%, the vinegarone's is 80%, but is harmless. I caught and kept a sun spider for a couple of months. It was amazing.

I once had to count thousands of tadpoles. I scooped them out of my pool and put them into small kiddy pools and took pictures of each pool. Once I took the pictures, I was able to easily count all of them. I had FIVE thousand. I know it's too late for you to use this technique for counting, or maybe you have your own, but it worked incredibly well for me! Love the video!!
That's not that soft of a brush. Real synthetic watercolour brushes are the softest while still maintaining their shape and they're not expensive either so I suggest you get one. With it you will definitely not be able to stab the little guys with a stiff bristle by accident. c:

My birthday girl loved watching this after her spider themed party. This sweet new 3 yo girl loves spiders and calls them her "best fwiend", though she's a little reserved seeing them in person.
I'm an arachnophobe mama myself, but I love my little girl. We'll be watching more of your videos as she squeals in delight watching these babies.
