I don't want a video next week. I don't want a blog post. I want to know you are off with your 8 besties having fun.
That is very kind of you! 🥳
a few sewing bloggers have made vest jackets using organza and scraps///the baker that sews made an incredible one
Great tip thanks 👍🏻👍🏻
Loving Kiell’s fashion choices as well. Jacket was great this week too.
EIGHT of your best friends??? I feel inadequate...😂
Agree, I don't have one best friend besides myself 😅
@@olive5890I’m the same Olive! Thank you for saying this out loud (figuratively 😅) 🫶🏻
I’m very lucky, we’ve all known each other since we were 12 and have gone through life together ❤️
@@olive5890 LOL, I don't even think I could claim my cat as my only best friend!!
Haha me to maybe we should start our new friends circle haha xx🎉
On youtube ‘ the baker that sews’ made a vest from sheer fabric with scraps between it. And even a dress. Real fun to she here. Reativitie. She made it last year I think.
Hope you have a great holiday x
Thank you!
The vikisews fabia dress/bodice would also be a good starting point for Suzy's dress! Especially with the mesh middle piece. Great video xx
Great idea!!
Enjoy your girlie holiday to France 🇫🇷 . Sounds like fun 😊
Thank you so much! 😎
Enjoy your holiday.
The bag technique comes from “confetti quilts”.
Kate, enjoy your group of friends' 40th frolic in France (sorry couldn't resist the alliteration 😂😘) 😍💃🎉🍹🍸🍾
I've seen one or two organza quilted sandwich fabric projects, but I don't think it's all that common so... 😅
Tricky week for pattern finding so 👏👏👏👏
Thank you!! 🥳
An american vlogger named 'Thoughtful creativity' had a vlog on working with organza filling with scraps fabric. She is very good in explaining making your own pattern. Her styling isn't mine but the way she explains things is great!
Lauren(sp) made to measure reminded me of 80's party dresses.
I’ve done lots of the trapped fabric in organza with leftover quilt bits but I don’t recall a trend
You are not on your own Kate. I've never heard of it either.
Excellent glad I’m not alone 🤣
Well Happy Birthday. 40. What a great age. Have fun, hope you have great weather and a fab time🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much! 🥳
That quilting trend with the sheer fabric has been around-- Liz from The Baker that Sews did it previously. I think it's from Tik Tok or Instagram.
Happy birthday! It was organza. And I had never seen that either! I'm glad I'm not the only one...
I loved Pascha’s dress - she consistently makes my favourite garment! But I also thought what Marcus did with his wife’s wedding dress was interesting - a really unusual idea to turn it into menswear.
I have seen it about but also feel it wasn't a trend.
I haven't heard about the 1st challenge .
I think the patterns this season are mainly self drafted or seriously altered. Usually you have some that are obvious but this season seems more like a hunt.
Thanks for the video and have a great break away. Thought the organza quilting a fab idea and never heard of it before either x
Be careful if you are recording the show next week, it's been moved to BBC2 due to the football. Our series link recorder hadn't picked it up
Nor mine! I quickly checked when they announced it and my ‘box’ had not set it to record 😮. Thank goodness I checked!
Roger that!
I'd never heard of the quilting bag thing (I think it was scarps within organza?) before either!
Have seen the organza sewing yoke before, The Baker That Sews has made some amazing garments using this method.
The painted fabric looked fab although it was definitely a tough call between that one and the little black skater dress with the blue bow ❤❤❤
Ohh I’ll go check it out thank you
I've seen the organza/scraps technique online but I wouldn't say it's 'all over the place.'
That’s what I was thinking 🤔 too 🤣
It seems the more challenging for the contestants, the more challenging for you! Appreciate it Kate, and have fun with your mates! ❤
You are right 🤣🤣🤣 thank you I’m really looking forward to it
It was organza , I have never heard of it either . Once again time was the problem, they could have really made such nice ones . 😊
It’s always short on time
Thank you Kate, that was not easy this week. I, too, had never heard of that scrap busting method either... but will be giving it a go... sooo many scraps....
Have a lovely break with your besties 🎉🍾🍸
Thank you ☺️- it looks really fun to try out doesn’t it
I have seen the organza scraps bag before never made one, well done on finding the patterns, have a great time xx
I have heard of this with tote bags. Saw a video on it. I thought this may be a difficult pattern finding one for you. Have a great holiday!
Oh thank you!
I had not seen that bag online either! A couple of the dresses were far too short, and I just don't like them - this may be an age thing!!
I’m looking forward to next week. I found some beautiful saris at an art materials giveaway place. I’ve held on to them, hoping to repurpose them.
I watch the show from Canada.
Wonderful!
I love quilting and sheers and ive never heard of it! 😂
I saw Nicole from Cool Stitches did this style of scrap sandwich between organza pieces in 2022 into a wash bag/ pouch it’s really lovely.
Ok so I need to go and have a look 👀 at this - thank you ☺️
Definitely not heard of the organza bag either Kate 🤔. It was quite interesting wasn't it though and a good way to use up bits too 👍. Hope you have a fabulous time away and you so deserve it 🥰😘
Yeah it’s such a great idea I’d like to have a play around
I've never seen it either
There were a few posts out there last year that I saw using quilted fabric scraps behind Tulle. The Baker That Sews (Liz) made something lovely using that technique, I think. I can't remember if it was a skirt or a waistcoat, maybe? I did see some posts on Pinterest though and thought they were kind of fun.
Yes, I've seen scraps quilted under sheer fabric. I'm older than you ;) and it was maybe 2017 when I learned it the first time. But if you Google it, the technique was all over TH-cam in 2023. It's not new, but I wonder if its because its somewhat sustainable- using up scraps to make something useful rather than throwing them in the trash.
Congratulations for you and your eight Besties😁🍰🎉 You deserve a break.
Thank you! 😄 we are soooo ready to cut loose 🤣
Not heard of the scrap organza quilting technique either but I see there are lots here who have. It was a great week, challenge wise. I hope Marcus is able to finish his outfit when he gets it back and do his wife's dress full jutice. Pattern picks seem to be very tricky this year. Contestants are not all using patterns straight out the packet. Lots of hacks and self drafting.
Enjoy the holiday! Happy 40th also!
The confetti quilting thing has been on insta and tiktok for a few years now.
Have a wonderful holiday!!! We'll miss you!
Have an incredible holiday Kate, what a special time you’ll have with your friends. My 40th was during lockdown so I am especially jealous 😂 ENJOY 🎉 xx
Thank you! 😘
That scrap bag had passed me by too! If you have a satellite dish where you are staying in France, you might be able to watch the Bee. Otherwise you can get it via a VPN on your device if you can't wait until you get back. Otherwise have a lovely time in France (where I live). It is a great place although the weather really needs to pick up a bit - it isn't like June at the moment so don't forget your cardi!
Thank for the tips - I’ll bring my jumpers 🤣😭
I follow a lot of bag making content and I have seen ONE reel with the scrappy quilted organza idea! It is super cool though-I definitely got inspired to make a little zip pouch out of a recycled sheer curtain, and I keep my sewing labels in it:) great way to use up little bits
It really is isn’t it 👍🏻
Thank you for doing this.
I would love to make a bag like the pattern challenge. It looked so fun, and probably not hard to do if you have enough time (which the competitors obviously didn't). It would probably take me all day!
It would deffo take me all day… if not two days 🤣
Happy birthday!!🎉🥳🎈
Happy Birthday and I hope you all have a safe and wonderful vacation.
Thank you so much!
😅
