Brundle's the man. An gentleman who's brushed elbows with Senna, Prost, Schumacher, and always there or thereabouts with them. Doesn't need to roast others to get attention. He speaks, you shut up.
What a lovely, understated superstar Martin Brundle is... That's really humbling to see how someone as good as Chris got on, albeit in awful conditions.
Chris did exceptionally well there was probably his best video i've seen, and Martin Brundle is so much more cool when he's not commentating. Love both of their crack on this video, 10/10.
I knew that Martin Brundle was a good chap but I had not realised what and absolutely charming bloke he is. Modest and self deprecating! An ace in more ways than one.
On a sunny day at Potimoa Chris will be within a second of Brundle. Icey Silverstone is just something else. It takes extraordinary talent or experience.
Kudo's to you Chris for being able to commentate whilst driving that beast. Well done👍🏼 As for Martin Brundle... A true legend of the sport. Really explains various points in a really easy way to understand.
That really was awesome. Confirms that F1 cars are just otherworldly. Forgot the supercars, the Veyron, the 918, the P1 etc. These cars are seat of the pants through the looking glass stuff. And Martin Brundle is awesome and such a nice bloke that way he complimented Chris.
+Rob Cousins F1 cars blow my mind. The Richard Hammond piece on Top Gear when he drove Alonso's v10 F1 car was extremely eye opening as well. That guy gets paid to drive the fastest road cars in the world and couldn't even string together 2 clean laps. Watching this and seeing Chris struggle the way he did, who is an ACTUAL racing car driver, really crazy to see. I love Chris, he brings alot to the new Top Gear team.
Just like what Matin said "He did a good job "There is no doubt about it. Now common drivers should realize one thing, those professional F1 drivers are all Talented. Very nice Videos..Thank You Chris.
It's amazing now to hear about Force India and Sutil being at the back of the field when they're regularly in the top ten at this stage of the 2013 season. Anyone who has ever spent any time in a single-seater on a race-track will completely get what Chris is experiencing, even if you didn't have 700+ HP to play with. These 3 videos were superb.
If Martin Brundle said you did really well, that's high praise. Martin raced with Senna in the 70's and 80's. Chris did a lot better than Richard Hammond did in a F1 car. Thanks.
i was privileged to have driven a 98 tyrrell f1 car once, at the time i thought i was a driving god, how wrong I was, Chris was 10 times better than me, after 8 laps i was so exhausted that i had to be helped by 3 guys out of the thing, very embarrassing on a + I didn't spin it but god it was hard to drive right.
Awesome video "all 3 parts"! Watching you (Chris) driving around the track, it's funny how I'm thinking »go faster, go FASTER« - only to realize that a single seater is SO much different from any road car, the performance is simply unreal. It's not a car, it's truly a speed machine! GJ mate!
Just did the math and if my one-and-a-half ton car was to have a similar power to weight ratio as the car Harris and Brundle drove, it would need 2,225 HP.
Hats off to chris harris at least hes been there and done it. The man is a capable driver just watch him chuck the focus wrc car around, F1 is a whole different level, hats off to all ex and current drivers!
***** Oh e, i saw that one mate. beast of a car. Harris is fantastic. I think BBC missed a beat by not approaching him for the TopGear position. But i get the feeling Harris might have said no anyway.
dalmaximus It's a strange situation mate. Because he did an interview a few months back where he said that no body can replace Clarkson May and Hammond and that he would not be interested because he would feel constrained. That the way he does his stuff now he has total freedom, to say what ever he wants and his style would not suit top gear. And now, we have not seen a video from him in a long time on youtube... but he's gonna be on top gear.. With Chris Evens and Joey from friends... TO be honest.. I don't have high hopes... on the up side, Clarkson May and Hammond will be coming with their new show soon so that's gonna be awesome im sure.
1000 people will tell it's that difficult, it's amazing how I just don't get it. I wish I will drive an F1 one day and prove myself I was completely wrong. thanx, great work!
Suttcliffe (I think I just spelt his name wrong) was pretty good in the Honda RA 107. That's the 2007 Honda. He was within a second of the official test drivers time!
You gotta remember all the people from other racing categories who have test-drove and spun F1 cars. For Mr.Harris to get in the cockpit with no (to my knowledge) single seat experience or even race background on an icy track and only spin twice is truly remarkable. And the people who own the car are just silly for letting him.
MARTIN BRUNDLE IS BRILLIANT! Now, can any slightly above-average daily driver get into an F1 car and take it around a track without crashing? Probably. Can that same person find some speed after having a few hours of practice? Possibly. Can that person now enter a race and out-qualify Sakon Yamamoto? Not a chance. Driving an F1 car is something that most people could physically do. Driving an F1 car fast though, that's reserved for the truly great drivers.
Take a bow Mr Harris. That, even for a driver of your pedigree, was a bloody impressive performance. Anyone unimpressed watch Richard Hammond make a total 'see you next tuesday' of himself trying to drive an F1 Renault around a comparatively baby track to see how hard it really is. Respect to you squire, that was a classy performance:
Wow. You can tell Harris is a good road car driver because he's very smooth with the throttle and steering. The second time he spins out I think is because he's just a little less smooth with the throttle I think. Brundle is a legend. Really good video on roadies driving F1 cars, better than Hammonds one in Top Gear I think. The thing that shocked me the most is when Brundle said if you start 10th by the time you pass pole you'll be doing over 100mph.
brundle is right about the rain. i did a silverstone single seater day in the pissing rain, and i shit you not only at 150 mph behind another car i could not see a SINGLE thing. i had to drive completely off the racing line just to see where the track was going. how on earth f1 drives do it is beyond me
The purer the racing machine the more difficult it is to move around slow, it ain't built to do that. He would have a very different experience on a rubbered in track, on a warm day, simply because he would have a bit more confidence and go a little faster. He'll never know that cause he's not a racer but it doesn't matter, he had his fun and as watching as well.
You will never be the same Chris. The La Ferrari is an incredible car, but pales in comparison. I enjoy watching your videos, because you know how to drive, and I enjoy your commentary. Good for you that you got to drive an F1 car. Something that is on my bucket list for sure.
couldnt agree more with what chris said about brundle. his level of intelligence of f1 surpasses many people at the top of the sport, and does indeed make f1 100 times more enjoyable to watch, especially the grid walk, which usually outdoes the race in terms of entertainment value :)
Does this Chris guy actually race himself? He shows quite an ingnorance by deprecating the 'guys at the back of the grid'. Most of them could win in most other championships on the planet and all are probably in the top 100 drivers worldwide.
If your good at go-karting then you probably know how to drive quite well, racing lines, braking points etc but go-karting will give you NO idea of the experience of driving an f1 car. Iv read how optimal acceleration and braking in an f1 feels like its crushing your chest cavity, its things like that and such high G-forces through corners that will mean you need so much time track time to acclimatise yourself to the forces before you can even start to think about driving tracks properly
Pah! I could have beaten him in my Reliant Robin. On one cylinder. With only two wheels. Blindfold......... Nah, just joking ;D Hats off to the guy for giving it a bit of welly in very dodgy conditions. I saw Hammond go all buggy eyed at the wheel of an F1 car too recently. I think they found his eyeballs at the back of his skull eventually......... As the guy says during his drive, you'll never slag F1 drivers off again........
I could listen to martin brundel talk all day..hes such an engaging man and a legend to boot..this man knows what hes talking about
Brundle's the man. An gentleman who's brushed elbows with Senna, Prost, Schumacher, and always there or thereabouts with them. Doesn't need to roast others to get attention. He speaks, you shut up.

Martin and Chris in the same video, very entertaining.
I knew that Martin Brundle was a good chap but I had not realised what and absolutely charming bloke he is. Modest and self deprecating! An ace in more ways than one.
I think chris is always too hard on himself. Those laps were incredible considering experience.
On a sunny day at Potimoa Chris will be within a second of Brundle. Icey Silverstone is just something else. It takes extraordinary talent or experience.

Brundle is great!
Great insights from Martin the pro driver made this debriefing really awesome.
This was one of the best explanations of F1 I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot over the years. Thanks! This was just amazing!
I can admit I had not seen any other driver who is such a great speaker and presenter as Martin. God bless him!
Just like what Matin said "He did a good job "There is no doubt about it. Now common drivers should realize one thing, those professional F1 drivers are all Talented. Very nice Videos..Thank You Chris.
The back markers are still amazing drivers ! Even the "worst" F1 car is still an amazing piece of engineering ! I would drive one any day !
Even though the graphics looked like an Atari 2600 game, I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Thank you.
Son of a Zombie commodore 64
Best interview I've ever seen.
I loved that. So happy to see Chris get to do that. He's a good guy and deserved it. Awesome stuff.
It's amazing now to hear about Force India and Sutil being at the back of the field when they're regularly in the top ten at this stage of the 2013 season.

Is this Ricardo Rosset?
TheRealD4VID hahaha genius 😂
Wow, Martin Brundle was fascinating to listen to! Such a 'grand master' wealth of experience.
I'm glad I watched/listened to this part because it makes part 2 even more respectable, near freezing? Brave man! Wonderful set of videos
Awesome video "all 3 parts"! Watching you (Chris) driving around the track, it's funny how I'm thinking »go faster, go FASTER« - only to realize that a single seater is SO much different from any road car, the performance is simply unreal. It's not a car, it's truly a speed machine! GJ mate!
He and Coulthard are my favorite commentators/former drivers. Great set of videos.
He's actually got quite a bit of racing experience. They even did a special of him racing the 24hrs. of Nurburgring
Just did the math and if my one-and-a-half ton car was to have a similar power to weight ratio as the car Harris and Brundle drove, it would need 2,225 HP.
Love Martin. If I ever cover the F1. I will head straight for him.
Hats off to chris harris at least hes been there and done it. The man is a capable driver just watch him chuck the focus wrc car around, F1 is a whole different level, hats off to all ex and current drivers!
Would be good to see chris get back out in another F1 car in better conditions
+Fr. Duffy Fighting 69th where can i find that vid?
Cheers buddy, i found it. Epic stuff. No doubt harris can drive eh.
***** Oh e, i saw that one mate. beast of a car. Harris is fantastic. I think BBC missed a beat by not approaching him for the TopGear position. But i get the feeling Harris might have said no anyway.
+DAGATHire you got your wish 😊 what ethnicity is he, mixed race Asian or black?
dalmaximus It's a strange situation mate. I agree with Chris, he makes watching F1 really interesting !
1000 people will tell it's that difficult, it's amazing how I just don't get it.

thanx, great work!
first time seeing this and it wont be my last. great stuff :-)
Suttcliffe (I think I just spelt his name wrong) was pretty good in the Honda RA 107. That's the 2007 Honda. He was within a second of the official test drivers time!
Chris Harris could have made top gear work. He should have been the main guy. A real car show
It's just a matter of time until he becomes the main guy on Top Gear. Joey is a joke and that other guy is out of place on TH-cam, let alone TV.
Great video, Brundle is a legend?
Richard Barker 9 podiums in cars even Mika and Michael could only win once in.
You gotta remember all the people from other racing categories who have test-drove and spun F1 cars. For Mr.Harris to get in the cockpit with no (to my knowledge) single seat experience or even race background on an icy track and only spin twice is truly remarkable. Two brilliant people... great video!
stunning footage
I enjoyed this interview more than any other can related interview ever.
what a beast Chris you are my idol now, and tbh every lap you were gaining more and more confidence and going faster and faster good job mate !
fascinating stuff
Brundle is SUCH a Legend!
MARTIN BRUNDLE IS BRILLIANT!

yeah he did pretty good, if your not used to the acceleration it makes it so much harder to take in
Take a bow Mr Harris.
Hammond did readily acknowledge his incapacity; what was it he said in summary? "I couldn't think fast enough."
lol straightline speed of an f1 car doesn't impress Brundle. F1 drivers are almost psychopathic with all that exposure to that level of performance
Wow. You can tell Harris is a good road car driver because he's very smooth with the throttle and steering. The second time he spins out I think is because he's just a little less smooth with the throttle I think. Brundle is a legend. The thing that shocked me the most is when Brundle said if you start 10th by the time you pass pole you'll be doing over 100mph.
great. notice how litte chris harris says or intervenes in the interview, giving all thr space to brudle going off
he said the fronts got too warm and too grippy compared to the rears, hence the spin.
Brilliant to listen to Martin B
brundle is right about the rain. i did a silverstone single seater day in the pissing rain, and i shit you not only at 150 mph behind another car i could not see a SINGLE thing. i had to drive completely off the racing line just to see where the track was going. how on earth f1 drives do it is beyond me

Now I too agree, Chris Harris should be Top Gear's next presenter!
Lol
This comment aged well
You have been heard
“It’s only ever going to feel incredible.”
You will never be the same Chris. The La Ferrari is an incredible car, but pales in comparison. I enjoy watching your videos, because you know how to drive, and I enjoy your commentary. Good for you that you got to drive an F1 car. Something that is on my bucket list for sure.

chris harris should be on a big show like top gear
Chris did great considering the horrible conditions. Any car would have been tricky with ice on the track.
Chris has the class...
that's not true, there are a lot of qualities a driver of one of those things would need naturally to be able to get anywhere near a competitive time.
How can I drive an F1 car? Its now officially on my bucket list.
Outstanding
What agreat couple of people!
I have to say that i'd rather be driven by an F1 driver in a 2-seat car than drive myself lol. Less chance of a crash, and faster =D
More Chris Harris for the people!
Marlon Brando is a King.
1 Person is confused what the F in F1 stands for...
what the fuck does hamilton have to do with that he said hamilton win in fuji was one of the finest !
He's very, very godd!!!!!!!!!!
New respect for Mr. Brundle. Chris, a drone pilot on FPV would be faster than you.
Leg End
Does this Chris guy actually race himself? He shows quite an ingnorance by deprecating the 'guys at the back of the grid'. Most of them could win in most other championships on the planet and all are probably in the top 100 drivers worldwide.

I was next in line to drive it after him... then i took an arrow to the knee. aw thats not even funny!!!
uh... what?
Kewlios
11 years later he still can't drive one at speed without spinning .. . lol jk Chris .. .
CORNER BE4 U SPUN U FELT FRONT TYRES COLD AND U WARMED THEM BRAKING WITCH WAS GOOD TOO GOOD 4 FRONT TYRES GOT OVERSTEAR
vacaseg9 ???
Eh?
@aaron0288
yea since f1 died in 2006
