- Just another quick video showing how I replaced the front struts on a 2007 Ford Mustang. The camera died at the moment I was replacing the lower bolts, but hopefully there's enough here to help you get the idea.
Tools Needed:
13mm wrench and/or socket
10mm wrench and/or socket
18mm wrench and/or socket
8 mm wrench and/or socket
13/16" wrench and/or socket, or the maybe this was supposed to be Metric?

amzn.to/48TOvCe - Milwaukee 2967-20 M18 FUEL 18V 1/2 in High Torque Impact Wrench
A good impact wrench would have made this job easier.
Please be really careful with the strut compressor tool. It can be very dangerous.

After watching your video a few times I was very comfortable doing this on my 05 GT with 128k.
Your presentation, clear visuals and attention to detail made this job a breeze! Thank you so much!
Thank you, glad to hear my video helped!
Take care,
Dan
You’re an EXCELLENT TEACHER!!! Your way of explaining along with description and video motives me to WANT to work on my vehicle. I know the maintenance is necessity and isn’t overly difficult, but it’s making the time, having the tools, and/or knowledge/experience. Most mechanics don’t seem to be the ‘sharpest tool in the shed’ so I know I can do these things. But it’s always easier to just drop it off at a shop. Plus I don’t have a space to work. But you shed light on what needs to be done.
P.S. I subscribed after this video
Great video! I just changed the struts on my 05 Mustang GT. Made a huge difference in ride quality (my car had 130K miles on original struts), and got rid of all sorts of clunks and creaks.
Important note that you missed the arrow on top of the strut needs to be facing to the outside of the car
Most informative and well done video on this topic. Thanks man
The best tutorial video and also a lot tips. I learned a lot from this tutorial. now im able to repair my own car and also to share my videos with all you.
Perfect walk through!
Great video Dan I have replace my struts already but I'm about to put new strut mounts on and I just wanted a refresher very clear and concise

Great job make it look so easy
Good clear video. You helped me a lot. Thanks
Explained so well thank you . You are a lifesaver!
Awesome video, really appreciate the torque specs, going to make things so much easier.
This is a great video!
Do you need an alignment after doing this? Some say you do and others say you don’t as there is no camber adjustment, only toe.
Thanx a bunch really appreciate it
honestly the best home video .,looks easy . mine have 94000 miles do you recommend change the springs ?
Do you mind me asking what kinda struts they were?
Do you need reealigment after this?
Zalo Alvarez recommended but not necessary
Yes
Great informative video, I'm so not attempting this, not a gearhead no shame here I'm a Gym guy lol💪
Was the strut bad or did it have a clunky shock top? Maybe you mentioned that but I missed that part if so.
Nice clear video.
Strut was bad, you could easily push the shaft in once it was removed. The owner said that there was a clunky noise when driving before it was changed. The owner just brought me the parts and said he wanted them changed. And he was happy because he said the noise went away after I changed them.
Thanks for watching!

I have an O8 GT that i am going to put complete struts on the front. Do you have to get a front wheel alignment after you change the struts.
Hi Shane,
You would probably be fine without doing an alignment, but it is recommended because changing the struts can change the ride height, which can alter the alignment.
Best of luck to you.

OK. thanks for the quick response. My car had the ever popular clunking in the front when you hit a bump. I've had other Mustang owners say, its just the strut bushing at the top. But I've decided just to put a whole new complete strut assembly on. I was going to take it to a shop to have it done. But after watching your video, I know i can do it in my garage and save on labor cost. thanks again. Great video.
No problem,
Thanks for watching!

@@shanejoyce1666 I replaced my front struts and got rid of that damn clunk. Previous owner had replaced lower control arms, tie rod ends, and strut mounts - still had the clunk. I changed the struts/springs - clunk gone! yahoo
The ones I bought said they come already completely assembled “and ready for installation “ does that mean I can just put them in or do I have to do all of this?
What that usually means is that the strut mounts and spring are already on the strut. So all you need to do is remove the existing bolts on the old strut, remove it, then install the new unit and fasten the bolts. Definitely quicker since you don't have to remove the coil spring and strut mount as shown in this video.
Is it cheaper to re use the spring. It seems easier to just buy a complete set.
Ik it's late but yes it is but buying the strut preloaded is normally a little more expensive especially if you're doing performance struts.
didnt torque the mid bolt to 46 lbs 9:37
Well Done on the Vid :)
how much are they to buy
You know you missed the ice cream truck right😂😂😂
